I feel the same way about Lestat. His actions might be horrible, but he's just too charming, and charismatic, and alluring. How could you not fall for that? One minute you hate him, the next one you love him. He's just that kind of a character.

Sam Reid IS Lestat it takes a special kind of actor to play a dynamic character like that. Anne would have loved him so much!..plus Sam loved the books!
Ben Daniels acted his dick off in this episode. Just absolutely crushed it. Santiago doing the play might be one of the best scenes of the entire show so far.
I look at the fans of the Theatre de Vampire like Rocky Horror Picture Show fans, who come to shows dressed like the characters and sing along with the show. Theatre de Vampire is really rubbing their noses in it. They are holding up a mirror to their human audiences morbid curiosity with death and apathy to the suffering of other humans. They are mocking them and showing contempt for them while feeding on them in front of them.
Love your reaction. This show is incredible; acting, storytelling, cinematography, music… all are close to perfection. Regarding the relationship between Louis, Armand and Lestat, I feel the behavior of Louis and Armand during the interview is not natural, a bit exaggerated to be sincere. The nite before in their room, they were not so close. In comparison, when reminding Lestat and his letter, Louis was truly sad and became aggressive to Daniel. Louis is still with Lestat and not really with Armand. Armand is a tragic character, I think he loved Lestat but Lestat not and then he tried with Louis but again failed.
I don’t know what is the true with Lestat in the show but the two times where we could see potentially the real Lestat: it is the letter he left to Louis (we the actual letter is available), and the time when Armand communicate with him (episode 5). And in these two moments, Lestat is very humble, kind, caring.
The Tale of The Body Thief is the next book after QOTD, and it's a really entertaining romp, while also being a serious meditation on human-vampire morality and mortality. It'll simultaneously make you go, "Oh my poor sweet vampire baby boy!" AND "oh wow, how are you such an incorrigible dumbass?!". 😅
The summary of the Vampire Chronicles: Lestat has an idea. Everyone else says it’s a bad idea and don’t do the thing. Lestat does the thing. Lol!

Makes me even MORE obsessed for the next volume of The Chronicles. The Vampire Lestat (book 2). Out of all of them, that one I reread annually. Lestat’s origin story will explain why he is the way he is and HOW. His story is the most hypnotic. This first iteration is just a taste of what’s to come. CHILLS. Sam Reid is stellar.
Finally a damn good reactor for this surprisingly underappreciated series.

I fell in love with Lestat when I was 13. I’m still in love with him, lol. He’s just my perfect chaotic mess. And he’s so charming and beautiful. And Sam plays him so well. And Jacob as Louis is just as wonderful.
Been in love with all the characters since I was 10 when I first started reading the book, my folks were get a divorce and I felt alone untill I pick up the first book at a used book shop and the rest is history
Is it me or did Armand got sexier this season? I can't explain why he looks different to me this season.
I was also surprised at how attractive he is this season 😊 I didn't see it last season
He was intentionally trying to downplay his presence last season. He was supposed to be a servant. He carries himself different this season. He has longer hair, his eyes are visible without the contacts, and he's wearing something beyond just black servants clothes.
It’s the eyes. I’m not a gay man but I would be lying if I said he wasn’t a beautiful person in general. Louie and Lestat as well haha

Armand has Louis under a glamour ...............when you watch Armand look at Daniel that is the direction you see the real passion ...............................Louis has had alot of his mempry kept from him by the stronger vampire
I think that what's so alluring about Lestat is that yeah, it's a fact he can be dangerous (not only because of his powers but his unapologetically deranged behavior most of the time). But at the same time Sam did an EXCELLENT job portraying Lestat's pain and his response to trauma with such a great range of emotions. So yes, he's a lot of bad things, but he's not plain at all and you want to know what's behind that hurt character who can commit atrocities without blinking.
I read the books, but watching the series feels like a new whole experience so I can't wait to see how they'll shape Lestat from now on, and how much they'll reshape him when Louis as an unreliable narrator is further explored!
Pd: if you jumped from QotD to TVA you'll be missing the background plot. Maybe you want to check Tale of the body thief and Memnoch before(:
I love Lestat. I know he's toxic but I don't care. Watching with my daughter and we both shrieked like school girls when that portrait of lestat was revealed.

The film skipped a lot of important scenes. The relationship between Louis and Lestat in the film was not flushed out. The series is closer to the books. I do like the changes in the series. The changes worked beautifully.
Episode 5 is told from Louis perspective. I think in the Box-scene we get a first glimpse into the "real" Lestat, whatever he was, he loved Louis deeply.
