Appreciate that! 🤝 I have been a fan of Atkins, but the results aren't good enough, so we can't be scared to try something new. We also need to be more aggressive at getting elite HS linemen in here to develop.
You killed this one! Enjoyed nerding out 😅 Seriously, though, you are on to something here. 2024 is a disaster, but this has been something we've struggled with for years now. The comparisons really paint a picture of that. They have to focus on building up the trenches. Great episode! Go Noles!
I like how you break it down. Unlike Warchant, you give data analysis and not opinions. Your analysis is clearly actionable while Warchant is only giving their opinions which we know, like a-holes, everybody’s got one. Keep doing what you’re doing.
Appreciate that!! I love digging into the numbers and data and then letting that form my opinion. We can see things with our eyes, sure, but the numbers never lie. It's just takes a lot of time, so we don't put out as much content. Thanks for watching!! 🤝 Go Noles!!
We definitely have a lot of other issues, but imo, the OL is the root cause and has been for many years. We just aren't good enough at the skill positions to hide it this year. I wish we could see this team behind a competent OL. Not saying we would win a title, but I highly doubt we're 0-3.
Great information, but I totally disagree with this thought that Atkins isn't responsible for the junior college o line. He's been here 5 years and has a top4 NIL budget. He also knew he was wrong when he gave Mims a ride and then lied when he was questioned on it the first time. If he isn't responsible for the o line then who the heck is? These coaches are responsible for everything that happens on the field. This entire team has zero accountability and no one has to answer for their mistakes. That's the problem
I'm not saying that Atkins is not responsible. What I'm saying is that the OL has been a problem for a long time, and he hasn't fixed it either. In a previous episode, I'm on record saying that I think it is time for a change based on his results. I believe I said that at the end of this one, too. In this one, I'm just giving you the numbers and data to paint the picture, so you can form your own opinion. Hope that makes sense. Go Noles!!
Nerd Mode Activated! 🤓💡🧠✅📊 Listening attentively, already liked the episode before watching entirely, Jesse. Love your show, guys. "Lose, win, or tie... NOLES till I die!" P.S. We need a WIN DAMN IT!!! Gambling Gods, please allow us to FINALLY WIN against Cal.
Haha appreciate that!! This one was definitely a little nerdy, but I love digging into numbers and data to tell the story. Haven't done one of these types of shows in a while. We DEFINITELY need a win in the worst freaking way. Just anything positive. Hopefully, if the defense shows up again and Atkins being back helps the offense get on track, we can get one. Really appreciate you tuning is as always!! 🤝 Go Noles!!
This explains very well why Georgia was able to win national championships with a mediocre “game manager”. Kirby focuses on the offensive and defensive lines first, then the skill position secondarily. Everyone, please subscribe to this channel. I have not seen a more detailed analysis of the offensive troubles at FSU.
Really appreciate that!! 🤝 That is spot on. The same could be said with Alabama for a few of the quarterbacks, too. The teams that can sustain being elite are almost always built from the trenches outward. Go Noles!!
That why Dabo hired Matt Luke as the OL coach instead of going into the portal. He knew the importance of developing his current players for long term sustainable success.
Exactly! If you look at Clemson while they were on their run, it's been good trench play and hitting on a few quarterbacks. The defense is the best example of this. Their DL has been LOADED for years and kept them in the conversation when other weaknesses were being exposed. He knew they had an OL problem and brought in Matt Luke to fix it.
Very informative, insightful, and ultimately very sad that the issue had persisted so long and even worsened. I like learning about the "why" so no need for apologies as far as I'm concerned. Now, what do we do to solve the problem and will we?🤔 Do you do financial analyses? I could use you. 😀
Appreciate that!! 🤝 It is a long and disappointing history of underperformance by that group. Imo, at this point, based on results, we need a change at the position. We need to go get a proven guy with P4 or NFL experience who can also recruit. Then, spend whatever it takes (within reason) to fix it. Idk if it'll work, but that is the only path I see to getting where we need to be. Will we do that? That's another story. Maybe Coach Norvell will watch this episode and realize it's time to stop playing around in the trenches 😅 I don't do financial analysis, but maybe I should! 🤔 😅
I honestly wondered all off-season how two O line transfers would make a difference in the run game when we were so bad in 2023.. atkins has never been good coach at o line...lets just say it...mike is going to fire him or bring him in help
The crazy thing is that he has signed a lot of HS linemen, and a good number of them were Blue-Chips. However, NONE of them have panned out. Most of our good linemen have been transfers that came in with experience, or they were HS recruits signed before they got here. We need someone who can develop the HS guys they sign or else signing them means nothing.
This isn't dry at all. This was a HELL of a picture you painted. There were a ton "oh yeahhh" moments throughout this cast because you're not spitting conspiracy or fan-whining- this is meat and potatoes football analysis here
Not trying to be that guy, lord knows, but what exactly has Alex atkins done that’s impressed y’all? Jordan stayed running for his life, the guy hasn’t recruited a single prospect that’s worked out.none, not a couple, none. They get pushed around by everybody and thrown into the quarterback for years. He’s also kind of arrogant in his interviews, which would be totally fine if the product on the field didn’t look like it did. Even last year we struggled like hell to get a push on the line . Those boys are weak/soft/confused/not coached well. He is a group of 5 product coach and it’s just not good enough. Who would I let go of? And I literally mean right now today Thursday September 19th 2024? Walking papers go to Randy shannon(Do I even have to explain this one?) (Odell haggins, time to hang it up, can’t recruit for shit, coaching at this point is also questionable, legend, but time to go) Alex atkins(absolute dumpster fire of an offensive line in every season besides 2022, the guys been here long enough time to move on) . SEASON IS OVER, move on with the young bucks, youth movement, have fun the rest of the games and AIR THAT DAMN BALL OUT DOWNFIELD. Quit worrying about interceptions let that boy sling that thing. On to 2025 gentleman, good less go Noles.
Hurricanes fan here I remember in Mario's first year at Miami & Miami was a mess!!!! & Norvell was in his third year so he obviously had the advantage & he took great pleasure in humiliating Miami & Mario & their players humiliating Miamis players & showed no respect to the U mymymy how the tables have turned & Mario has a memory like an elephant he doesn't forget nothing & he remembers every slight he's going to drop 69 points on fsu & he might go for 100 he's going to totally annihilate fsu with the recruits watching he's not going to have any mercy on Norvell because he doesn't like him or fsu
This is a pretty ridiculous comment... So, FSU is just supposed to take it easy on them like Miami did when they beat us 52-10 in 2020...😅 You must be having some memory loss lol It's one teams job to score, and the other teams job to stop them. Why would you pull up in a rivalry game anyway? If they put up 69 points this year, then so be it. We have to be able to stop it, but that how the game goes. I may hate Miami, but I actually have a lot of respect for Mario. I've interviewed him twice, and he's a super nice guy. I'm sure he doesn't like FSU because he's a Miami guy, but I doubt he thinks twice about Mike Norvell, and I'm sure you've never asked him to know he doesn't like the guy lol
@plantthespear well Norvell said that Miami is no longer a rivalry When Bobby Bowden was at Miami the two teams hated each other & the games were always exciting & hard hitting but there was always respect there where fsu & their fans went wrong was when they started disrespecting the U & not agnoliglng our great history & talking about us like we're temple or somebody Miamis tradition is greater than fsu were the U we have more titles than yall more all Americans than yall, way more football hall of famers than yall & we still lead in the series but yall should have never disrespected us hate yes it's a rivalry but direspect no that's when it turned nasty
Pretty sure you're just making stuff up at this point 😅 Provide your source for when Norvell said it wasn't a rival because I'm 99.9% sure that's not true. You don't have more All-Americans (45 - 36). Tradition is always going to be subjective to the fan, but I would definitely argue that FSU's is better. Miami doesn't play in their original stadium and doesn't even own the one they play in now. What game day tradition is Miami known for on game day besides running through some fire extinguishers. Miami has a good history, but hasn't been relevant in 2 decades. They may win again, but I doubt Miami will ever be what they were in the past ever again. Not trying to be disrespectful, but you are off on a few things and clearly biased on others.
You gotta be kidding me!!!! You're probably too young to know college football history so let me school you it was Miami not fsu who invented the speed defense under Jimmy Johnson in the 80 Miami was the first team to start putting safeties at linebacker & linebackers at defensive ends using the first 4-3 attack style defense it was Miami not fsu who was the first college football team to install the first NFL prostyle offense in college football these advantages allowed Miami to dominate college football for 20 years in fact Miami had cost fsu about 4 national championships in 87,88,91,& 92 which caused Bobby Bowden to say that famous quote that they will put on his tombstone but he played Miami 😂😂 Miami has beaten plenty of great fsu teams but fsu has only been one great Miami team that was in 89 & we still won the national championship that year in fact by the time fso won its first national championship in 93 Miami already 4 national championships we got 5 but we really should have 8 because we got robbed in 88,in 00 we should have played Oklahoma instead of sorry fsu who gagged all over themselves Miami would have wiped the floor with Oklahoma that year & 02 when we got robbed against Ohio State is isn't even close fsu can't compete with the U!!!!!!!! We got 11 pro football hall of famers to yall pathetic 3 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I don't think you know what tradition means 😅 You typed all that out about play style from 30 years ago. According to the NFL HOF website, Miami has 9, and FSU has 5. Again, you are literally just making 💩 up. Congrats on being good before any of your current players were alive. News flash, only older Miami fans care. Literally, no one else does. You guys haven't even won the ACC in 20 years (maybe you finally will get one this year), have mever won a NY6 bowl, and only have 1 bowl win since 2006. Sure, I admit you have 2 additional titles, but we still have 3. Yes, you own the series by a mere 2 games because you racked up wins in the beginning of the series when we were a new program. We own the record in the last 10, 20, and 30 years of the series. We've at least won the conference 16 times, including 5 times since Miami joined, and you played in the much weaker Coastal division. I'm happy for you that you love being a Miami fan and have a great history, but please hear me when I say that I don't care about Miami lol I would never trade being an FSU fan for a Miami fan whether we were 12-0 or 0-12. I wouldn't bother typing out another Miami history lesson because I'm not going to keep going back and forth with someone who can't even get his facts straight. Have a blessed day✌️
Who's to blame? Who signed an extension in Jan. and now get's $10mil/yr to field a competent team? Who put the roster together? Who's currently in his 5th year with still no true serviceable h.s. OT or QB to plug in? The proverbial elephant in the room. 🍢🍢🍢
@@tommygunzz8117 no argument there. The blame clearly lies at the feet of MN. But if there was someone telling the FSU administrators to hold up and look at this data, perhaps there would have been second thoughts about giving Mike the extension and essentially making him too big to fail or more precisely to expensive to fire. Making decisions using emotions versus data most often end up in disaster.
