the next gait above a walk on a gaited horse is a showily and the next gait is called favorite gait I own four gaited horses you are also not supposed to post on a gaited horse and the more you canter him it is going to mess up his gait
@@10eisai have heard of this before. Is it because if they are gaiting properly you wont need to post? (What if its still too bumpy?) Can you elaborate why cantering too much will inhibit the gait? Im thinking it messes with muscle development and movement patterns...appreciate your thoughts thank you
This is why Shae is one of the most admired horse women. She cares about her horse ,she puts them first and she loves them and they love her back. She is gentle with them and they are gentle back! Respect coming and going!
He was obviously taught correctly from a young age to have respect for people. They are not born that way. He and all her horses r great. She has done a good job with her babies not letting them be Naughty they two are being very good and respectful
Arlo is suuuch a calm little sweetheart - the way he nearly falls asleep with you around because he's so comfortable just shows how amazing and trusting the relationship between you two is ♥
I just came across your channel randomly and I just have to say how much I appreciate how you treat your horses. When I heard you say "bit-less" I was shocked, in the best way possible. This is how all horses should be cared for, you truly are the best horse person ever ❤
Arlo is my dream horse: calm, gentle, and dependable. He can be trusted with an older person, someone with limited experience. His smooth gait is a blessing. That’s how I perceive Arlo. Thank you for sharing your love and understanding of horses.
I'm a nervous rider and I love these kinds of videos, the way you explain everything is so amazing! Arlo is so cute and just has such a adorable baby face 🥺
What a beautiful day for a ride! Arlo is a very beautiful horse and I LOVED the kisses all over his face for Valentine's Day! Even funnier is the fact that the kisses are still faintly visible on him. =) Loved this video. I really, really love the riding tips and horse knowledge you give us during your videos. I've never owned a horse (to my sadness) but I became "horse crazy" around 10 years old after reading Black Beauty, the Black Stallion, the Misty books, etc... And I'm now 63! One of my top five "fun things to do" is still petting horses which unfortunately doesn't happen but maybe once a year. All this to say that's why I love your videos so much...especially the "day in the life of" showing daily life with horses. Thank you for everything you do for your viewers.
Loved the 'advert' on Arlo.... Someone will swoop him up right away, when you are ready. Cantering is even more enjoyable than cruising downhill on a bike. 😊
This video made my heart happy today. I've been a horse lover since age 2 (yes, I remember even though it was 63 years ago!) but my parents never had the means to afford riding lessons. Now I get to live vicariously through your videos - and learn so much along the way. I love that Arlo got his treat at the end...such a good boy! (I also own & love your Piaffe Plum!)
Nice lesson for equestrians about cantering. Unfortunately for this old non equestrian I didn't understand everything; but I still enjoyed the video very much. You were so upbeat and bubbly today Shae 😅😅😅. You must have really needed the sunshine and warmer weather!😊😊😊
Awesome tips on the canter! Especially about taking lessons on a very well trained horse that canters smoothly. Love your training tips, we can always learn something new.
I have a horse just like Arlo , so gentle and kind with lovely manners. They really are a pleasure to own . Your videos are so helpful as l am still a little nervous in canter ,it is more difficult as an older rider and not owning a horse for 40 years. ❤
When I said 'fun ride, it was very much of an understatement. Watching the beauty & poetry of you and Arlo was extremely uplifting and brought me much joy and was a very much needed contrast to the constant bombardment of negativity that our 'world' has become lately. BLESS YOU & YOURS!
He’s a beautiful horse. As a kid in the 70s, the way I learned to canter was being thrown on a horse for trail rides with a guide who was only 14 or 15 themselves. If we were lucky, we’d get to canter. No helmets. No instructions. Pure fun. But then, people didn’t wear seatbelts, dogs ran around the neighbourhood off leash and kids played outside all day without adult supervision.
I was very glad to have a tutorial on cantering with such a lovely horse like Arlo, who moves smooothly! Thx for taking time to give us some confidence and content on cantering. Looks so comfortable on Arlo. You both look great together! ❤️🐴❤️🐎❤️💋❤️💄❤️
I love your videos so much!!! I loved horses sense I was just 6 years old and I hope to one day be like you! your such an amazing rider and owner and your horses are so lucky to have you! ive learned to much from you and your such an inspiration to me!! ❤
Arlo is so chill! I remember learning to canter when I was very young and not being able to steer! Hahaha luckily I don't have that issue now and thankfully I had a great schoolmaster growing up, he was like arlo very laid back and steered for you 😂
Loved the canter video today. Arlo is such a beautiful horse. You are such a great instructor. I can see why all your students love you and your lessons. Have a wonderful day. 😍❤❤❤
Ooo Arlo is so beautiful! Those shot with his canter are great! And at the end of the video when he was facing you and his ears were up he was stunning! He has a wonderful shaved head! Good boy Arlo!❤️😀🐺
Arlo is very photogenic. I love watching him canter as he does seem to be so smooth. I really like the halter you put on him--he looks so good in it. He does appear to be such a good horse that anyone could ride.
@Te-legram.FreeSpiritEquestrian Sorry Shea, I'm not savy on telegram or how to access...us old dinosaurs are just too tired to learn new tech. I ❤️ ur channel & enjoy watching you & ur herd. As I've purchased lip gloss from ur boutique, you have my private data...please use it if you find contact important!😉
Wonderful video. Happy to see you and Arlo got an outside ride.. He has great feet.. Well formed. I love all your horses and the fact that you pay attention to all of them. Beautiful. ❤ 🕊🩷🙏🙋🏼♀️🐈🐕🌷
I took riding lessons as a child and you adult in denmark, ive never heard of posting the canter, we only posted the trot. But it looks like s great exercise. I love watching your video. Thank you for sharing.
You were having such fun with Arlo and your nice weather. Could you do a session showing the Natural Walking Gaits of your Gaited horses? Your older watchers, as I am, might be interested to see the easier gaits of horses that seniors can ride safely. Thanks. ❤ 🐎 🐖 🐕
Arlo is photogenic like the beautiful color of a pearl, his trot & canter flows like the waves in the ocean. He is sweet and lovely ... wonderful video thank you Shae & Kyle 🐎💞 🌊
Now, that took me right back to my youth, riding on a muddy and crusty horse during winter. ;-) I found canter much easier than trot, but then I didn't ride a gaited horse. However, I once rode an Icelandic horse that tølted, and that was terrific. 🙂
I know a lot of people needed that advice on how to canter and tips. It is faster specially on a forward horse. So doing it on a lunge line could help so that you can get your horse to a halt. Also with canter try to do it on a slower horse, then just go faster, faster until you can go on a forward horse. But obviously its not that simple and you need to practise more. So keep trying you will get it and the more you fail the more you learn. So if you fall off get back on :) ❤❤❤❤
Now I could be wrong, I'm preparing myself just in case, are you going to be selling Arlo? This was the best explanation of canter and what it takes from the horse to the rider here on RUclips. Trust me!
Have you ever considered a On Demand Water Heater for the barn? With this system you are not heating water until it is needed. We know how muddy winters and spring can be. Just a suggestion for you and your horses. Keep up the great work. Hugs to all the horses!!
Alro is precious. Shae, I love when you share about saddles. That one video where you walk us through a proper saddle fitting was so interesting! That one was for English - I prefer to ride English but I think it could be fun to see a western version of that process. Thank you for being so diligent in your own personal study. (And I love cantering and could do it all day!)

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍 You have a great sense of humour. 😊🏴
Hahaha 😂
I love Arlo's streaked mane and tail.
I agree
Me too it's so pretty 😊

That’s how I perceive Arlo.
Thank you for sharing your love and understanding of horses.
Arlo was pointing to his dirt coat asking for a bath lol He beautiful soul ❤
"Grey Sabino with a touch of mud...and that is official", cracking me up.
Thank you for the first-person views of grooming and riding :)
When I see Arlo's canter, I think of the word, "lope." I think it describes it best. He's such a sweetie. 😊
Arlos eyes are so dreamy. Lovely horse

You are a genuine equestrienne. Love watching you. I remember all my trainers and you definitely one of the best.
Loved the 'advert' on Arlo.... Someone will swoop him up right away, when you are ready.
Cantering is even more enjoyable than cruising downhill on a bike. 😊
The sunshine on his coat gave him a pearly glow. And he has a such a sweet face, especially in the pink halter.
He's so beautiful, I love his colors! I love his temperament too.
Awe...he lifted his tail for his mom. So very sweet....❤
I love arlo
Posting the canter, what a concept. I can imagine that helping me be more in tune with a canter. Thanks for helping me and others envision riding!
“A grey Sabino with a touch of mud.” 😃 Classic!
I love your horses

Arlo is, "Such a GOOD BOY!" His hooves are very nice. Canter is my favorite gait.
