  • What's up y'all! This is a VERY exciting and VERY informational video! In case you don't know, I am an interior designer with 7 years of experience. I majored in interior design and achieved my BFA. I collaborated with Natalie Perri, who is currently enrolled at UPenn to get her master's in Architecture. We discuss the differences and similarities in what it takes to become an architect and interior designer.

NCIDQ accredited schools are very similar in approach and execution when it comes interior design and architecture. My process for school was the exact same as the architects answer. I graduated almost two years ago!

You don’t need to do your bachelor’s and master’s degree in architecture to be an architect. You can do, a 5 years program approved by NCARB, do your bachelor’s and master’s in architecture and/or do you bachelor’s degree in the field that you like and then do your master’s degree in architecture. Obviously if you do your bachelor’s in some field outside design; I guess that is going to to be more difficult to understand the basic concepts and programs. 🙂

This was great! In Scotland the university course was Interior and Architectural design which meant we learned so much about context as much as interiors. And I don’t miss the sleepless nights lol! ❤️👌🏽

Hi! Need help understanding what educational route to take. I want to be a architectural visualiser, using rendering programs but working with a company before freelancing. These companies prefer their employees to have a arch bachelors. Very few also take employees with interior design degrees. Architecture is great but I feel 3d visualisation doesn't need all those years of school. But any advice on what road to take?
    Thank you!

Well, let me ask you this: do you want to become and architect or interior designer? If you want to be a designer, I say head straight into the design program! Getting an architecture degree isn't necessary if you want to become an interior designer.
