Mr. Gadd exemplifies his rich vocabulary (that some people erroneously find limited by today's standards) and he makes you feel like getting up and dance. He lifts the sound from the drums and cymbals, something special that every musician should aspire to master. Everyone else just hits... And the the tone quality and the tuning of his entire drums set remain unmatched. He is a Master. A sensational musician.
Great drumming, and a fantastic showcase of different styles and approaches to that infinitely malleable (but always soul-satisfying) groove, the shuffle. That's my late friend Jeff Golub on guitar there, I believe - a great player and a real gentleman. He left us long before his time.
I've seen Gregg Bissonette live with a heavy metal band - he was pretty impressive in that genre, too... He does seem to be able to excel at almost any style.
Steve Gadd is so good I did not even realize for a couple of minutes he wasn't playing along to music, I was putting the music there in my head. He is an amazing drummer. He is so mellow to you wonder were the energy burst from when he's playing high energy because brother he can bring it. As someone else says Greg Bissonette can really play a lot of genre's very well.
About to get grilled in the comments, but whatever. Isn't a cowbell a little easier to bring to a gig and sound like a keg? Leave the keg drumming to Slipknot. Lol.

Amazing shuffle, Gregg!
Gregg Bissonette is far too under-rated. His feel is fantastic.
Rosalind Willett it's just all about technic and feel:P
Could not agree more...met him at his clinic, all about feel and meter, he works with Ringo...that says it all.
generic drummer to me. anyone can do what he does, he does not or has never stood out with anything.
@@dorian2112 Except his killer mullet!
Yes, he is! Yes, it is!
Gregg Bissonette 😍 so good. Heard him live with toto. Amazing

I remember studying Steve Gadd videos with Shawn back when he was teaching private lessons -- and it's great to see him up here as a "peer" of Gadd's!

IT WOULD BE BEAUTIFUL IF STEVE GADD MADE A BATTERY BOOK OF ALL HIS RHYTHMS CREATED BY HIM TYPE SHUFFLE BUT ALSO JAZZ WITH BRUSHES AND MORE -
Sounds good these days with the new DIXON drums, especially that purple kit he uses now.
8:42 Shawn choking up on that stick big time. Great player to watch.
Is that Robben Ford on guitar?
what size drum stick is Shawn Pelton using?
Gregg has some mean pocket
Not too many people realize he got his start with Maynard Ferguson.
