I still watch Hart to Hart, have since it first came out. She’s a beautiful lady. I also love watching John Wayne’s movies. A+ for John Wayne & Stefanie Powers.
It's hard to steal the camera when you are in a scene with John Wayne, but Stefanie Powers sure did in McLintock! I barely noticed John Wayne once she appeared.
Miss Powers thank you for the great stories. I first saw you on Girl From UNCLE. Great show I was very sad to see go. You were my first actress crush (I was 9 LOL) and I have not been disappointed since. Thanks for all your great work.
Stefanie Powers Was Groovy as April Dancer in the Girl From U . N . C . L . E . , The Original Title Being The Girl From A . U . N . T . I . E . The Acronym For Associated Unified Nations Taskforce for International Enforcement .
On Hart to Hart we were out in Thousand Oaks on an episode. Some horses got out and took off down the road and Stephanie took off after them on her horse to catch them and I could sense the concern of the director that she was doing something possibly dangerous. She brought the horses back (i think there were 3) and all was fine.
She was William Holden’s girlfriend until his death and was very active in African wildlife conservation with him. Holden has been a big game hunter who became a conversation activist.
Such a wonderful beautiful spunky lady plus loves horses...what more can one say 🤔 I loved the movie McClintock, my favourite ❤ Duke starred in it 🥰💙🙏oxoxox oxoxox oxoxox
Ms. Powers is still beautiful, charming, and smart. I am very glad to see her again. I hope she has many more magical years ahead. Thank you both for the great memories. God Bless you.
Great interview. I just love beautiful Stefanie! Lovely lady, so talented and classy. She’s a horse lover (and animal activist) and equestrian, as I am, so she is the coolest in my book!
In all your interviews with Stefanie Powers, she has a confident, sexy, "what you see is what you get" attitude so it's never difficult to picture her as Maureen O'Hara's daughter in McLintock, they certainly seem cut from the same cloth. Off screen, I've read that she is very much into the outdoors. I recall seeing film of her and William Holden hunting in Africa, and is head of a wildlife conservancy group named in Holden's honor. Quite a woman, quite a lady. .Thanks Rob. You have the best job in the world.
Stephanie Powers and Maureen O'Hara were two of the most beautiful actresses in Hollywood. Ms. Powers is still stunning! Off of topic but - my husband and I stayed at John Wayne's favorite hotel in Bisbee, Arizona when we got married 4 years ago. In our 50s! Well from the second we checked into the John Wayne suite (closest to the bar so he could find his room easily) the wiring was haywire. One tv blew up, second tv blew up, door kept locking itself and unlocking and the lights were flickering. Come to find out one of the biggest fights John Wayne and Pilar had was when she came to visit him on set unexpectedly right after getting married and caught him with another woman. Maybe we triggered something with the wedding?
Said it before, gonna say it again.. you ALWAYS have the best guests to interview! So far, however, none of them beat the one with Billy Mumy, he's just the all-time best interviewee !
McLintock, my favorite movie for sentimental reasons... My grandpa was one of the Indians watching the big fight scene where they slid down into the mud hole.
John Wayne, larger than life for his patriotic life and conservative principles was married twice to Latin women ! His first wife was Josephine Saenz daughter of the then Panamanian Consul General in Washington, mother of Michael and Patrick Wayne ,his second wife was Peruvian born Pilar Pallete and mother of his three children! And John is supposed to have been a prejudist man, Pilar was his wife till he died. John Wayne loved South America and was best friend with Pedro Armendariz, the great Mexican actor and producer who starred with him in the Three Godfathers through out his life.John Wayne was an international individual character. You can Google his wives info.
I have watched this Stephanie Powers video about twenty times Rob ! Just can't get enough ! Her very special John Wayne stories are absolute treasures ! Not to mention that Stephanie is absolutely stunning ! Keep 'em coming Rob !
What a great interview with the always lovely Stephanie Powers. She described a Breeding Ranch quite well. I just love the story about her wild ride and John Wayne's touching response. McLintock is always a great film to watch on a Sunday. Somehow, every weekend is incomplete without a John Wayne film. Thank you again, Rob, for another one of your great interviews.
Glen Randall told me once. "the reason the indians rode appaloosa's was so they'd be plenty pissed off when they caught up with the calvary and the reason the calvary rode in McClennan saddles is so they'd be plenty pissed off when they met up with the indians".
Such an interesting interview and with a nod to Gene Autry and the museum. McClintock is a fun movie and Ms. Powers did a wonderful job. Her work has proven how versatile she is. She seemed to enjoy doing the interview as well. So glad you do these Rob. Great all around.
Mr Ward. I remember Stephanie Powers from McClintock and she then and now. And you have been kind to me in past talking about great actors and actresses I grew up loving in the 60s having no clue most of them were already dead. I'd show a year but I love em much. That being said. My dad not liking horse's. I only got to ride a few times growing up. But if you can imagine a stupid kid on a horse who Loved westerns but nothing about horse's. Challenging my cousin 2 years my younger. In Jr high. To a race. I did exactly what they did on westerns. I slapped the reigns and kicked her flanks. And about shit my pants sitting inside 5 acres Barb wire fenced in. Omg. I have been at a full gallop only the saddle horn didn't pull out when we went into long turn and I was lightweight. The only thing holding me on the saddle at this point is left heal into this galloping left hand turn. I would the Barb wire fence and a whole lot of rocks if God didn't forgive me for my stupidity. And just my ankle hanging over the saddle. Both hands on the horn. Right foot In the stirrup. I'm pretty sure the left stirrup was long gone. If heal had given half an inch more. I would razor wired. And thankfully surviving this I didn't get my ass whipped for being STUPID. Because my aunt come flying out the door screaming at. I told you kids not to do that. Uh no you hadn't. Under my breath. But I did wasn't driving 🤣. She bought that. She never never knew I intentionally kicked the horse and slapped the reigns. Been many years since I rode a horse. That wasn't my last time. It was my only dumb time 😂. But I haven't ridden since I was a kid before I comprehend horses and thier emotions ❣️

I am 61 and for most of my life McLintock was my all time favorite movie! It has slipped to about #3 now, but is still enjoyable! Only thing I would change is having the Chinese cook have a nephew who is a student of Wong Fei Hong show up and kick some major ass! Because even I knew that Chinese actually hated the queue (pigtail) and most cut it off as soon as they came to America and never believed they wouldn't go to heaven if it was cut off. The Manchu's violently forced the queue on the Chinese people murdering tens of thousands at various times. So yeah, that stereotype bugged me, but other than that I loved it then, love it now. People don't realize just how funny John Wayne was. He did a series of more light hearted films, McLintock, Donovan's Reef, Hatari, Circus World, and North to Alaska with my personal opinion of McLintock and North to Alaska being some of his best movies, #3 and #5 in my all time favorite films. Also look at his guest appearances on Lucy's shows! I wish John Wayne and Lucy had done a movie together.
The Chinese were a big part of Western History. They worked Railroads and Mines. There was a large population here in Denver in the 1800's. Rooster Cogburn lived behind a store owned by a Chinese man, actor H.W. Gim. He also plays the cook in McClintock.
Yes I really liked it, I've seen McLintock a hundred times because I didn't have cable and they showed it over and over and then You Tube had it all full movie.
