Thanks. I’m currently in project management in a very unrelated field (as in no design) and I’m in the infancy stages of learning UX/UI as a potential career change. The goal right now is to learn and eventually be hired as a designer but it’s interesting to hear that the option to go back into management with design is a possible career path. With you having hiring experience, is having project management experience a strong positive (assuming it’s coupled with a good portfolio) or is it something that doesn’t really move the needle in terms of being hired as an entry level designer?

If you have a background in project management and you want to get your foot in the door in the design world, you could look at some "UX Operations" jobs. That sometimes requires a high level of project management experience. When it comes to design, it's all about the portfolio of work, ability to juggle and manage projects at a high level is a skillset that's required a little bit later when you start leading projects.
