Oh my, this is a very welcome return to the dizzy heights of the Scissor Sisters at their peak. It has all the ingredients to being a summer number one for him as long as it's promoted properly. Will radio play it? Maybe Radio 2 in the UK will pick it up as an older artist still releasing new material. Clubplay of course will generate a certain ammount of sales. The release dates for the single & album are spot on for summer success too. My advice to Jake would be to make sure he gets on as many UK tv shows as possible in the meantime. Do the Graham Norton show, the Jonathan Ross show, Good morning ITV, Breakfast show BBC1, Loose Women, Jools Holland (if airing at the time) etc...That's where you'll generate most sales from older fans of the Scissor Sisters and new fans who need a new good, solid & stylish gay anthem going on. I was embarrassed & despaired seeing the new Sam Smith dishwashy excuse of a new single & video on Graham Norton recently thinking, really?...is this what we are really expected to appreciate from today's top queer artists? (Apologies to any Sam Smith fans out there). I'm totally in with diversity & the will to shock of course but in my opinion it was a step down from the standards & respect that I like in pop music today. His album went straight to number 1 of course so who am I to dis it, but I don't like it. So like a breath of fresh air Jake has come to our rescue once again with something worthwhile. Influences go heavily back to Nile Rodgers & Chic on guitar & strings, bit of Daft Punk thrown in with a Freemason's vibe going on & echoes of the Scissor Sisters best album 'Nightlife' at the heart of it. I'm sure there will be some exciting remixes to look forward to as well to help us through this year. The great, movie style video must surely be a calling for Jake to maybe explore acting further on in his career. Welcome back Jake & thanks in advance. I can go to bed now & dream of even more music!!! x
Saw Jake singing as Duran Duran support band at the O2 last Apri and it was Impeccably fantastic! I don't understand why he is not getting all the credit he deserves. He is the kind of artist that merges the "old school" way of music with the new "trendy" way of doing things now, he should be up there, he deserve that.
