Hi David Another very professional update I particularly like your weathered 4F and the flower beds under Station Name Boards I'm running analogue myself but love to see the more technical aspects possible with computer control. The camera lighting gizmo seems to give better lighting options than just flooding the area with LED strip lights and the edited stills are a nice touch, adding realism to the shots. Keep up the good work Cheers!
Thanks again. Yes I decided at the outset to go DCC, but only for loco control and autp running. Am old-school with my switch panels and light indicators. The light unit was bought for photography rather that layout lighting (still something I am toying with). Haven't used it yet. Regards, David
Hi David, I like your scratchbuilt coal staithes, the varying sizes of coal really helps to set the scene. I like your idea with the removeable scenic boards, It will give you alot more to work with when doing photography. I would love to get into all that but I wouldn't know where to start with a DSLR so I look forward to your future videos. (might help if I actually finish a layout first anyway) Cheers
+Michael Henfrey Many thanks. I plan to start fairly soon, I am trying to decide where to begin. But it will be broken down in stages and posted bit by bit on a regular basis. My first plan is to use a separate 'photography' scenic board to represent the line on the other side of the bridge. Not going to give too much away at this stage, but its nice to have you on board.
Good idea with regards to model railway photography, I for one would find it very interesting. Please keep the uploads coming, looking fwd to the next instalment.
Great job on weathering your stock and locos, I guess it pays to be a photographic artist in order to get the tones just right, nice video and update look forward to future updates.
another good video david the photography idea will be of great interest as like photography myself, the weathering items will be a big help as new to model railway
Hi Roland. Thanks for your question. I am slightly in two minds about my backscenes, sometime in the future I may get round to changing it for a 'photographic, more rural scene. Anyway my current backscene is partly hand painted - the countryside half of my layout, while the buildings are from the (old) printed sheets mand by TOWNSCENE (Backgrounds of distinction) - still available, google this - www.freestonemodel.co.uk. They are separately printed buildings, you cut them out and stick them on your background board to create your scene. I can't see a 'small house' perhaps you mean the coal office. Anything other than the buildings describes are from card kits or scratchbuilt from card. Hope this helps. ... David
Hi Philip, apologies for my late response, I have been busy, and distracted for the past month or so. Ballast is nothing very imaginative it is Woodland Scenics a brown gravel and the track is standard Peco. If I were starting afresh I would look at the 'new' peco track which is closer to scale in look. Regards ... David
David Hyde Thanks for the reply David. I appreciate your help. I'm hoping to get started on my project once our move back to East Anglia is done and dusted so very grateful for the information.
Thanks Neil. First loco I bought (no surprise there) and old Hornby model I cut my teeth on with my railway and detailing (a little bit). Photoshop to place it in Weybourne yard - still one of my favourite shots - glad you like it - David
Great update David - and some excellent ideas for my own layout - thanks very enjoyable.
