    Back to a full system again with the Z-guard this time. A beautiful halfguard/kneeshield variation with tons of options to control, sweep or submit your opponent. We will take a look at attacking both sides of the upper body, upgrading to different guards and applying submissions like kimora's and choi bars. Osú

    Wow. As a white belt I find myself in this position a lot. Or at least in a position close enough where I can at least try to get there. Instead of the usual rolling in a circle wasting energy and eventually getting passed I have much more to work with! Thanks a bunch!!!

      I always try to hip in for the finish and have hip to hip contact. Not sure if that's technically right but it's very effective for me. @@EnergiaMartialArts

    Bro thats what i need for my 10 year old son. He is very powerful even 12-13 year old kids have a tough time grapple with him. But he needs technique and your step by step tutorial help alot 💪💪👍

      @@EnergiaMartialArts He started Judo when he was 5 and trained for 1 year. After corona with 7 years he started with Grappling and Thaibox more serious. Now he also trains olympic freestyle wrestling once a week.

      @@EnergiaMartialArts took a notebook full of notes last night and spent all morning working on it in class. Was able to hit a few things. This is definitely my next deep dive. I just spent 3 months on every possible Kimura so this guard plays so well.

    Might be a dumb question, but what's the difference between z guard and half guard? Or is it the same thing essentially?

      No great question! So they are all forms of half guard. Half guard being every time you have one of your opponents legs trapped. Knee shield and z guard are just different variations/niches within halfguard👊🏼

    How do you deal with the leg weave smash when your knee is on the hip? He has the option to use his right arm to weave under your left leg and use his right shoulder or chest to smash both of your knees together.

      Okay so I hope I can explain this way; but either he puts his head within reach when smashing the knee (I'd go for a guillotine, ninja choke or if he's in the gi any lapel choke). Or I'd look for some form of John Wayne sweep. If you want me to show some stuff send me a DM on instagram

    X guard this shit is getting ridiculous
    It’s simply a shallow half guard variation. It’s more of a transitional point not so much of a guard.

      As techniques evolve and jiujitsu becomes more and more detailed, it is important to distinguish certain techniques. At a high level these details and different approaches do make a difference. I understand where you are coming from, but in sport jiujitsu I disagree. To a non striker a kick is a kick. Why make a difference between a body kick or low kick? Or better yet a low kick and a calf kick? Then beteen a thai low kick or Dutch low kick? Do you see my point?
