It is very similar to Scrutinized which is a game from the developer of Welcome to the Game which you might remember. I absolutely loved Prognostic! I absolutely love this game! The only thing I wish they would have done differently is not use modern pictures when it takes place in the early 1900's.
The whole game kinda has that issue. Hairstyles are way too modern, and the one case about the girl getting drunk at the party while home from college is so completely out of line for 1904. That would have been a scandal, not just a thing that happens. Also the fact that she was going to college. She wouldn't have even been able to cast a vote in an election for another 16 years. The fact that her sister killed her would also have been sensational and unbelievable. People honestly didn't think women could murder.
They should just move the game to the 1950s instead. Still dated, but at least closer to the modern vibe that they seem to want.
@@d_valroth You would be very surprised at how similarly people acted in the past. Alcohol was readily available in the early 1900's, beer and wine and all the different spirits existed. Young people still did dumb stuff. People had parties, even if they didn't have blasting rave music and acid it could still get crazy. Women went to colleges. As early as 1836 there were women-only universities, and in 1837 Oberlin became the first co-ed university, accepting men and women of all races. By the 1880's there were more co-ed schools than gender-specific ones. Sounds like you get a lot of your historical knowledge from movies and TV.
@@catman6089 Of course stuff happened, but they "didn't happen". Things were hushed up, swept under rugs, what was publicly known was sanitized to conform to social mores. What precisely was "right" and "wrong", "acceptable" and "deviant" always changes throughout history and culture. The game's tone is extremely modern day, it takes for granted modern perspectives, unless the protagonist and his brother are just randomly both very open minded and forward thinking... but I find it strange to make a period piece and then largely ignore the period.
@@catman6089 Actually, the more I think about it, I realize there's really only one perspective in the story, the brother, and he's just dealing in clinical facts. I don't know why I thought other characters were presenting any opinions, it's all the brother's words.

Something that I really appreciate about Insym, is that his reactions to scares are actually real. Some RUclipsrs and Streamers are just screaming and squealing non stop acting like they are scared of every little thing that happens. But Insym is pretty chill most of the time, a little freaked when running for the mirror, and jumped straight out of his seat when she came out the mirror. So good! lmao

This game is amazing, and the only thing it's missing, is a non-story mode. Where you can solve random crimes. Cause as it is right now, heavily linear story based, anyone who has watched this video would never need to play the game, they know all the answers. But a mode where the cases, characters, and so on were all randomized, would make the game last much longer, and be more fun.

This is just an early access (beta) so can’t be expect too much about thing like random suspect and object until it’s official release
Btw Insym: The failed case actually makes sense and was a little oversight on your part. if you do the location tracking for all suspects, you will see that there is a woman who was in both locations and therefor only ruled out by the reading that the killer was a man. So if you are unsure which clue is the defining one, you can simply check if you could still definitely solve the case without the clue
That would make sense if the objective didn't simply say "Give tarot card reading of victim". Since there are two victims it should accept either of them, or just have two slots so you can put both of the readings. There is no indication that you need to go super deep into everything to find out which of the two it is, just give one of them. Maybe this was something where translation issues made the objective unclear.
@@Insym I think the actual issue is that according to the flavor text of the case, it is very obvious that the killer was doing it for justice, but since this is the first time they had the player do two tarot readings, they should have specified whose tarot reading they wanted
@@Insym part of the puzzle is that the case makes that everyone had a reason to murder the two, that the killer wanted justice does nothing to solve it given everyone fit that description

I watched part of this, live and now I came back to finish this amazing game. Not to mention that after I saw the Wheel of Thanatos, I bought the game! It's fantastic, the mechanics are awesome and I love Insym's gameplay.
Honorable mention is the " You know what time it is guys... Imma loop grandma" That phrase had me ROFLing xD xD

1:13:00 that sounds like the case of Ken Mcelroy where the town finally got fed up and shot him in the middle of a crowded event and no one would speak up to name the killer so they all just got away with it
I love how people were saying chat is dumb during the runes when actually chat was correct and at some point doing it wrong will probably bite you in the ass. The directions wouldn't read the way they do with 4 runes if chat told him wrong. Regardless you roll the last rune bc it could come back blank on the last roll.
I love how at one point after closing a mirror he mentions how the game usually gives a grace period afterwards, only for the entire house to light up in red flames as eerie music starts playing
1:17:50 "We blocked the attack, so we have a bit of downtime" and then, in a fit of comedic timing, the house freaks the hell out.
Also, a bug, since the lights are supposed to be red during the event but it swapped to blue as Insym changed the incense.
I really, really love horror games like this, where the danger itself is less scary than the anticipation and environment. Having to focus on other tasks for extended periods while a ghost can creep up on you at any time is a brilliant way to scare players.
1:29:50 translation was clear and chat was screaming why. Choosing the tarot "murderer seeked justice" is a lot weaker than "murderer is a man" is because ALL the suspects were wronged by the murdered...that tarot reading essentially ruled out nothing.
Been waiting for you to play this. Didn't like to ask, as i always feel the content that gets uploaded should be something you want to play because you are excited about it and not because people hound you to do so. This will be soooo good. Thankyou. :)

This demo playthrough is absolutely amazing, and had caused my heart to drop into my stomach multiple times with these jump scares! Thanks for all the content Insym!
This was an amazing game, can't wait to see what they do next with this project. The actual game may be more terrifying with Grandma chase and ghost events.
I think the game should be on a more strict timer. The whole point of the events and sounds should be to distract you. In a lot of ritualistic summonings they say the spirits will do anything they can to break your concentration, because normally you're on some kind of time crunch with very bad consequences if you mess up. As it is, if something creepy is happening you can just kinda wait it out. The skill you're developing should be the ability to block out outside stimuli. As the game goes on your vision could get blurry, the screams could be more often, events could happen and some of them actually do mean something bad. Part of the game should be deciphering what is a priority and what isn't. Idk, just ideas.
I think I personally would enjoy your idea for a game more, I noticed a lot of the times the player was in "danger" were not at all, even when the spirits invaded. I think limiting the number of special candles and slowly increasing the ghosts speed over time are two steps in the right direction as well but I love the idea of blurriness fading in and out and the general atmosphere getting more intense over time, because I do think atmosphere is one of the things the game did really well.
All that being said. Maybe we just aren't seeing the vision the developer had, where actual danger was more of a sidenote and they wanted the focus to just be on solving mysteries.
@@tristanhendon7372 I just really like the atmosphere alot and wish it actually meant something. The puzzles weren't really that hard, so I think if the puzzles are gonna be on the easier side, there needs to be something slowing you down or dividing your attention. Just ideas like I said. I think the game is really cool either way. I hope it's expanded upon soon!
Considering there is a technical time limit that can constantly be extended or redone: meaning the ritual can go on for as long as needed; I am not so sure if all of that would be a good idea. Granted, I do think that you should get punished for having the Blue Flame go out and not getting to that Candle in time to keep it going. Of which your ideas could work there due to having to juggle what is going on and what you have to do as well as the fire. But with this ritual of you entering the spirit realm, instead of just contacting a dead spirit(s) or worse; your ideas may not fit with this kind of ritual. As it does lean a bit more towards Divination than anything. But that does have it's own risk does it not? The longer it takes you to figure out the clues and complete the ritual yourself; the longer you remain in that spirit world. The worse things become until you inevitably lose. Rather than just distractions, seeing more lethal spirits roam around that you have to avoid for instance until something worse - and more malevolent - is now HUNTING you down.
@@nightdrivenen7909 I already said I think the game should be on a more strict timer. Depending on what you believe, contacting spirits can be incredibly dangerous. You don't need to go into some kind of real to experience that. You type like English inst your first language however, so I may be misunderstanding something.
@@thefruitstand9648 What you both said made sense. NightDriven seemed to be saying that this divination ritual of entering the spirit world might not fit with your suggestions for consequences. They also offered the idea that the consequence could be more along the lines of attracting the attention of more spirits until certain death.

1:29:25 To be fair, saying that The killer is a man, builds a much better case than, The murderer seeks justice when trying to arrest or convict someone.
Insym got the man one first and used it to eliminate half of the suspects and then forgot that logic. This was clear as ever and he was just not thinking enough.
Yellow eyes are apparently a real thing that can happen, though it's rare. Silver and red eyes also happen, though I think red eyes are mostly do to albinism or prior injury.
Like if you get injured and bleeding happens in the eye, then the blood can permanently stain the iris.
My dad has yellow eyes. It's not like a vivid yellow, more like something in between yellow and green, but the yellowness is very clear when compared to the rest of my family (we all have green eyes, except for my grandma, whose eyes are light brown). His eyes turn very yellow when lit by the sun during sunset or sunrise.
Yellow eyes is actually amber. It's just a very much brighter brown shade that shine thru more and look yellow

The song used in the credits. This is the second time I hear this music in a horror game that you played. The first time was in "The silent channel", and it was only audible for about 3-5 second. And now here, aaaaand you muted it. Fate must hate me that it torments me with these reoccurring pieces of music that I really like but just can't find the name of. In case anyone reading this comment knows the songs name or singer, please let me know.
On a side note, this game is amazing, and so were you when playing it. I'm really looking forward to seeing your playthrough of the full version once its out. Thanks for the amazing content and all the laughs and skipped heartbeats!

Ohhh wow! I haven't seen a game that scares me this much in a long time. The scares are so effective because you're so distracted trying to complete these sometimes complicated tasks to solve a murder. It's brilliant!

For that case where it was either seeking justice or the killer was a man as evidence, the description of the killer never directly said that he had any justified reason to kill them, just that he argued with them for an "Unknown" reason thus ruling out the seeking justice evidence. As a murder mystery fan, this game is interesting, I'm only going to watch insym solve the first case so I can try it out on my own. The devices don't give you straight answers, they are more like a replacement of the investigation process cause you're not at the crime scene directly. For example, the location tracking is a replacement of suspect alibi interview (where were you at the time of murder?), and the culprit description is a replacement for suspect elimination.

I guess one way that "murderer is a man/seeks justice" could be fixed is by redesigning the turn-in UI by making it show a checkmark/cross/question mark over every person everytime you choose a clue
for example if you select "murderer is a man" then every woman would be crossed out and every man gets a check mark to signify that it can be one of them
then after you select another evidence for example their location then every person whose location you checked and it matches would get an additional check mark
every person whose location doesn't match would get crossed out
but every person whose location you don't know yet (because you didn't check) and they aren't crossed out yet because of a previous clue
would get a question mark to signify that you still need to check them before you make a decision
i'm guessing that the reason the "murderer is a man" worked but "murderer seeks justice" didn't is because there was most likely a woman whose location was once again the same and she also seeked justice, because of that you wouldn't necessarily have the correct murderer yet because you would still have 2 people
but if you have murderer is a man then obviously that will point down to only one person left
of course there is no way for you to know that because you didn't check the other people's locations, because it was unlikely that 2 people would be in that specific location at the same time
but if the UI worked in the way that i described then after inputting all of your clues, you would clearly see that you still need to check some people with "the murderer seeks justice" evidence because they would have a question mark for their location

it was clear if you think about it, knowing that the killer did it for justice didn't help you to narrow it down, but knowing the eyes were blue did, after all you are providing proof to your brother of who the killer is
