我們德國人說：最後一滴水會使木桶溢出。This last drop can also be a small one. We say: Clinging to straws as your last hope. It's fascinating that the sayings in the world do so often mean the same.
最后一根稻草 = the last straw (to break the camel's back) 抓住救命稻草 = grasping/clutching at straws (to try to avoid drowning) In English, these expressions are very common. It's interesting that they have equivalents in Chinese.
