- Chic perform Mystique then subject themselves to the Ross treatment, before finally ending the show with Good Times. This is for my friend Flavio 'Chic' Tucci to say thank you for the music. Bernard was the best bass player ever to walk the planet and his good friend Nile is the best funk rhythm guitarist to this day, not to forget a brilliant producer also. Pure Genius.
Great to see Bernard looking so fit and well here. One of the greatest bass players ever
The greatest bass player ever.
@@Tigerex966 indeed!
@@Tigerex966
Larry Graham also simply the bass

If there's a bass player's hall of fame, Bernard Edwards should hold a prominent place there.
The creativity and groove in his bass lines were amazing!
Looks like Nile and Bernard must have borrowed the guys' in the house band's instruments. I've never seen Nile play a Tele or Bernard play that bass before.
During this period, Edwards played Sadowsky basses. It is even noted on the liner notes of the record/cd. Kind of: Edwards plays Sadowsky basses, Rodgers plays whatever he likes...
On the later gigs, Edwards used his favourite Stingray again.
One of their greatest tracks. This record was released, when the world - except me - wasn’t ready for a “disco-revival”.
Yeah, wasn't that strange? Back then, Nile was playing his clear Stratocaster knockoff! And who's that drumming? Pretty weak compared to Tony Thompson's thunder...
My favourite bass player of that era along with Pops Popplewell, Wayne Braithwaite, Louis Johnson, Freddie Washington, Chuck Webb and Marcus Miller
That is a rare piece of video footage. There's plenty of interviews out there featuring Niall but that's the most I ever heard from Bernard - without question the best bass player to have ever lived. An incredible style - simple and incredibly effective, but difficult to copy - all those off beats. Followed the melody more than the drum beat.
Anyways - here's to Bernard.
Chris, Dublin, Ireland.
Tony Thompson is also sadly missed along with Bernard. Chic is my favourite band but it is just not the same now.
Chris Lynn vocals aren't the same without Alfa Anderson, Luci Martin, with Michelle Cobbs and Fonzi Thornton supporting
Nothing like the original band. Perfection.
I saw Chic, my favorite group of all time, perform at the Cool Jazz festival in our Houston Astrodome. They all were great but the perfectionism and Speed of Tony Thompson on drums was like watching a perfect Robot with no Flaws! I will never forget it.
exceptionally talented musicians, song writers, producers and arrangers.....such a loss that Bernard and Tony are no longer with us all....wonderful that Nile continues to go from strength to strength...even with his health issues....
Classy in every way, Nile and Bernard aren't/weren't just incredibly talented musicians but very humble and true gents as well. So glad Nile is still going and bringing this music to a new generation
Nice to see so much love for Bernard in the comments! One of my favorite bass players of all time.
2 absolutely incredible musicians and songwriters/ producers.
I bow my hat to them.
Nothing but love and admiration for Nile and Bernard!
WOW !! Thanks for uploading this footage.I never thought I'd get to see it again.
This was my first CD/year in CHIC.
I miss Bernard and Lamya dearly! Thanks Lex!!!!
Good memories...
Nice! I love it!! Chic's music was off the hook. Love the bass, vocals, drums, strings, and guitar...awesome
Beautiful .... silver Logan sharp...
Sylver Logan Sharp, one fine singer. :)
Bernard said (elsewhere) that they reformed because after Tony had his accident he "wasn't the same" and that led to the group being broken up..and then reformed. Shame they let Fonzie Thornton, Norma, Lucie and Alfa go, though.
I can't believe so much people call this disco music...
This is funky as hell !!!
Thank you so much for uploading this awesome footage :)
Peace
At this time, with the come back album "Chic-Ism" (1992), their new, latest one since "Believer" (1983/84); it was no longer "disco" of course ! But because they emerged during that horrible disco era; that's where came the (unfair) reputation ... Already, "Tongue In Chic" (1982) and "Believer" ('84) were no longer "disco" as well ... call it electro-funk or whatever you want; but everyone knows it was no longer disco ! (So "Chic-Ism" from 1992 even less ... but it wasn't really a good album; and they didn't happen to regain their past fame with it ... Skyy, Kool & The Gang, and others tried as well in the early 1990s; but funk had made its time by then, it was over, for real !)
Greg F IS ALWAYS WESTERN PEOPLE WHO WISH TO CLASSIFY BLACK MUSIC FOR COMMERCIAL AND MAKE MONEY : IS NOT DISCO MUSIC IS FUNKY OVER FUNKY MUSIC !! Of course in the end of the day is BLACK MUSIC ANYWAY AFRICAN ROOTS ORIGIN !!!!!!! They can call as they want they can’t even know how to dance it with rhythm anyway !!! so it s disco for caucasiens as they wish/// we don’t care !!! We play black music !! Everyone is welcome !! To enjoy it !! AMEN !!!!!
Gran voz de silver Logan Sharp buenísima mancuerna!!!! 🎉❤❤❤
Awesome release of pure music, miss you Bernard
That's what we call FUNK MUSIC!!!
Great to see Bernard playing a Sadowsky bass, Nile on a Telecaster too!
Only video I know of that shows Bernard with his Sadowsky!
Bernard we miss you so badly
Sylver is so BEAUTIFUL!
GOOSEBUMPS!!!! oozing pure class!
Nile, Nard and Tony, great THANKS!!
I like the way NILE PLAYS his gimmick guitar “ good times” make it slightly different than the original one // make it a bit even more melodic / going to try to play it and enhance that !!! Very interesting live set up !!!THANK YOU VERY MUCH TO SHARE THIS VIDEO VERY GOOD !!
Seen just the Nile Rodgers and Chic opened up for Duran Duran ! The did a medley/anthology set of all the songs Niles recorded or produced ! Good stuff ! The new girls singings did a great job !
Thanks for posting this, that's me on backing vocals with the flatop. The waistcoat wasn't mine btw lol.
Without Luci & Alfa that’s not CHIC in my book 🤷🏽♂️ it’s the Chic Organization.
GOOSEBUMPS!!!!
brilliant!!!!!!!!!! musical equivalent to the greatest works of art i can think of. Should have a jukebox of this music in art galleries!!!! That would liven the place up a bit :)
Excelentes músicos y genios. Ellos crearon el estilo Nile Rodgers y Bernard Edwards. Toda la música actual lleva su estilo.
Bernard Edwards pure class
By gosh when club music for Club not this vs nowadays thank you n i l e Rogers 2021 and still bumping!
I am certain that there are other videos of Bernard playing a Sadowsky Jazz-style bass in the Chic-ism era.
THE MIGHTY Chic!
Good times indeed.
brilliant!!!!!!!!!!
J'adore
Thank you kindly for uploading this :)
FEEL THE BASS, MAN !!!!! Cool and Hot in the same time :) THANKX
This is MUUUUUUSIC !
why they had to cut out "Good times" ? ! Savages!
I can't believe nile used a tele for a bit in the 90s.. So glad he went back to the strat.. The tele is so not suited for what he does
This is from my Favorited CHIC album CHICism! :D
Nile on a Tele! He doesn't like his work with a telecaster but I do.
And let's here it for Sylver!! She's one of the best singers ever. I bet she's loaded with dough.
@sylveronutube from Argentina, one question
Is Lamya Al-Mugheiry , behind you, in backing vocals???
kisses for you, I love your work with Chic!
Anyone know who the drummer is?
Sylver is Nile and Nard's equal. They met their match when they signed her up.
Nile Rodgers' talent must be used as long as he lives, I have a crazy idea: let him produce a metal band, that could end up in something quite out of the ordinary...
IF U ALLOW ME TO SAY THAT THEY SOUND MORE INTENSE IN RECORDS THAN LIVE , DONT GET ME WRONG , I ADMIRE - NILE RODGERS AND THE LATE BERNARD EDWARDS- TEAM......BUT THEY DO INDEED..
geezz...this interviewer is trying to start trouble!!
This has got to after Luci Martin, Alfa Anderson the original singers
'nard come across as a super cool guy, damn, shame we lost him.
niles playing a custom tele as well
What year is that ?
1992
Yes; February 1992
don' t forget NARD THANKS
haha I think that's andy gungadin on drums
lol, written and produced by Chic
Bold statement Bernard was a brilliant bassist but not the best ever to walk this planet Jaco pastorius was, you could say Bernard was the king of the disco bass.
I preferred Mick Karn to Jaco, but that's what i meant, the best disco/pop music bassist.
@@jezzyby47 I love Mick Karn also but Jaco was the master , how sad three great bassists are no longer with us.
Bernard definitely the best, Jaco not even in the top 5
No, it is not disco bass, it's R&B & funk.Chic was not a 'disco' band. Bernard could play rock as well & bet many other styles . Of course I agree Jaco is also one of the greatest.
@@troywilliams5756 I imagine your not musician , thats why you haven't got a clue.
Sorry, but without Tony Thompson, Luci, Alpha and / or Norma Jean, this is no Chic whatsoever. I had this album, and it sucked.
I think it's their BEST album, just like Provision is Scritti's BEST album.
I don't like Nile; I didn't like 'Nard ! Especially Nile; he lacks modesty; no kidding !!! (I know it has nothing to do with the fact that he is from - and was raised in - New-York; yes ...). Way too arrogant, and mocking; I wouldn't like him if I were to meet him in real life; I'm positive about it ! (I've read and watched so many interviews of him; he is like that; and it's his true nature ... not a single doubt)
Ridiculous no way is Nile arrogant, always the little name with some of the biggest hit records ever. Hell it took me 40 years to even realize he was the one that was responsible for the Reflex, Lets Dance, Like a Virgin, ect ect ect.
