Ayyyy I'm one of the fellow folks who thinks 8 is better than 7! I think for me it's at least partly because 8 was my very first FF game, so I just remember being absolutely blown away that video games could be more than Dr. Mario (not that Dr. Mario is lacking in the emotional moment department).
Man, I have to fight the urge to write an essay here. lol. I agree with pretty much everything you said. Tidus > Teedus. I remember I only started playing Final Fantasy because the trailer for X-2 looked cool. I realized it was a sequel so I was like I need to play X first. It ended up being one of the greatest stories I've ever experienced. I remember being a teenager and tearing up at the end. The twists hit so hard. I remember everyone complaining about how whiny Tidus was, but idc, it was a great story filled with memorable characters.
I really enjoyed FFX too, though I confess that I don't often pay attention to the stories in JRPGs, I'm here for the worlds that they're set it. And the Final Fantasy series generally does a great job with that! That and the monsters. Monsters are my favourite thing about fantasy in general and why I love RPGs in the first place 😊. And again, the FF series has had some brilliant ones. Though I'm also partial to Square Enix's Dragon Quest series when it comes to cartoony monster designs with a lot of personality. Just depends on my mood.
Eyy a fellow Warrior of Light! XIV was an ode to the FF series and my favorite of all of them. VIII was the first one I finished. Eyes on Me was the exquisite. IX will always have a special place in my heart.
But that laughing scene when they're leaving Luca, though... Anyway, I'll admit to putting more hours into FFX than any other FF game over the years. I keep coming back for the combat system. I feel like it was the best they ever made; FF12 felt like such a downgrade after it, with its 'let me play the combat for you' AI options. Finally being able to use the whole party in battle, with massive customization options is always an amazing experience. I still need to go through and do a game where Yuna takes the lead and becomes my main melee character, lol. But it does have some pretty big flaws. The story of FFX...I feel like it was more Yuna's story than Tidus's story, honestly. It could just as easily started on Besaid with Yuna undergoing her trial, and not much would've changed in the grand scheme of things. Kind of feel like they just weren't ready to commit to a female protagonist at that point (admittedly they gave the focus to Yuna in X-2), though it's not as glaring a flaw as it was in FF12. The reveal of the final boss basically came out of left field; kind of like the final boss of FF8 was a late game reveal, same here, though at least in FF8 you had a good final fight. You don't really get that with Yu Yevon; it's like a gigantic tick just floating between moving rocks that can't really hurt you if you're properly prepared for it. Then there's the whole Seymour character...what were they thinking there? Then to make him a repeating boss, basically removing all menace from him by having him constantly getting beat by the party...just do your death dance, Yuna, and get him out of the story already! The story was rather linear, too. You really couldn't explore like in previous games, and there wasn't even a world map you could move around once you got the airship, just a menu of predefined places to go. I can understand the reasoning, being a pilgrimage with a final destination already predetermined, but still, some freedom to move around and explore the world would have been nice. Even with all those flaws, though, I've been through it so many times, and probably will do so again before long.
Hahaha TO BE FAIR, that awkward laugh was meant to be weird and awkward. He was "forcing" out a laugh, despite being miserable. Sorry, I just get passionate about that one 😂 Thanks for watching mate
Final Fantasy Fan here! Played and own them!! I agree with you on FF7 I like FF8 better, also didn't care for FF7 remake, which is not a remake at all lol. That being said I am getting FF16. I was 16 when FF10 came out (yeah I'm old lol) and played the Japanese version, voice overs were so much better. Anyway really liked it and cried in this one as well as I did with 8. I also enjoyed 15. Great video I'm a big gamer so I loved this! I cover some game stuff on my channel so I can relate 💙💙
Final Fantasy is a game I never really gotten into, which is weird because I used to love the Advent Children movie and especially Vincent Valentine. I must have seen that movie a hundred times even though I didn't understand anything that happened 😂 Back then I always wanted to get into the story and the franchise but the amount of old games that I had to play first to understand what's going on was just way too much and the motivation declined after a while. Rammstein in Final Fantasy - I wouldn't have expected that either. And I've never heard anyone pronounce their name the way you did 😁 Aaand last but not least, I guess you know my favorite fantasy story already. Funny enough, Warcraft isn't a book either, just a game that happens to have tons of books, comics and mangas 😂
I always loved FFXII, no idea why other than its aesthetically pleasing, there were pirates and the story isn't half bad. I also thought Tidus was pronounced the same way as it felt like a play on the name, as he is the changing tide against evil. That and the face he plays a water sport
My main inspiration, especially for the epic fantasy series I want to write someday is the Legend of Zelda. I think it did a wonderful job with world building, types of characters and while the timeline is dubious at best I love the story despite it's faults. There's so much to discover about its lore and creation. Some video games have excellent story telling! Some of my favorites are Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy and I think they are wonderful pieces of inspiration!
Hey there fellow Warrior of Light! DRG/GNB main here to applaud these based takes. FFX is one of the stories that fundamentally shaped my journey through fantasy. It's an experience that I cannot recommend enough to people, as it's one of those stories that can show you what "bittersweet" feels like with its masterful entwining of victory, tragedy, and the fortitude to continue on, and I'm glad to see that other people feel much the same way.
And yes, please do an FF8 video I'd love that 🩵🩵

haha to be fair, it's likely nostalgia for me too that makes FF8 so good 😂
I would be really interested in fantasy gaming videos. Love Final fantasy and and jrpgs in general
Thank you!
I'd love more content about videogames! 😊
Thanks Mary!

RAMEN-STEIN? What is this a German noodle brand?
Had the same thought 🤣
I'm sorry, okay! 😂

Thanks for not teasing me for how I pronounced Rammstein, Lena 😂
@@Cam_Wolfe My pleasure, it sounded quite cute. But I miss roasting you for random stuff, tbh 😂
I'm with you man, Final Fantasy VIII is my favorite Final Fantasy game. For a long time it was my favorite game ever.
It's SO awesome to hear someone else say they loved FF8, thanks Sarah!
Pronunciation of rammstein was hilarious ramenstein lol
😂 my bad
@Wolfe the Story Nomad just made me think of catchy metal and want a snack, no complaints lol

I wasn't a huge fan of 12, but I completely agree about the aesthetics!
