It's been a crazy time for everybody's favorite Marvel web-slinger. First, the Disney and Sony deal broke down and he was out of the MCU. Then, miraculously, things turned around and his third movie already has a release date! But how did that really all go down...

@@youtubersworldwide3713 That rumor doesn't really line up with what we know. Netflix keeps the rights for two years after cancelation, so they aren't allowed to even start development until.... October 2020? Possibly May 2021 (two years after Jessica Jones) depending on the precise wording. That's not enough time to rewrite the script, film a bunch of scenes, edit, market, and release by July 2021. At best he could get a post-credits scene.

When the original news broken about Sony and marvel break up, this is literally what I thought. There is too much money on the line on both sides for them not to reach an agreement. So it’s either for publicity, or someone was going to get fired for letting the negotiations break down and then the movies would be back on. There was 0 doubt in my mind that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man was over.
