I’m 30 and still have a hard time comparing myself to others . Especially comparing me to the older more mature skin women I love to watch who have experience and usually were or still are professional makeup artists . Their skin has no wrinkle insight while im starting to get lined under my eyes. I always have to reassure myself that in RUclips videos the influencer usually is farther away from the camera as well. Which is ironic bc I think I look way better from afar then up
Close. Sometimes I’m too scared to get to close to the mirror so I stand back further so at least the illusion makes me feel pretty and good about myself. I’m terrified for my now 8 year old
Daughter to grow up in this world of fake filters and unhealthy beauty standards. That’s why I love watching you so much bc your authentic and make me n others feel okay and normal to have flaws . So thank you Cass for being YOU and no one else ❤❤

I get it. But when you're 40, you'll think, "I was so silly when I was 30." And when you're 50, you'll think, "I was so silly when I was 40." It's an endless cycle. Just be happy in the skin that you're in. Easier said than done, I know, but faces have wrinkles and that's totally normal. It doesn't even mean that you're "old." I started going gray at 18. So did my brother. It's just genetic.
If you're interested in advice, my number one thing to tell you is DON'T TAN. You watch Cassandra, so you probably already know this, but I can't stress it enough. I didn't tan when I was younger because I couldn't. My two skin color options are either ghost or lobster...There is no in between. So I've been using 100 SPF my whole life. (No joke, I really use 100. LOL) But it was a blessing in disguise because I don't have a lot of wrinkles and I'm going to be 45 this year. But I have some and I get new ones every day and I'm OK with that. I'm supposed to have them. I started taking tretinoin to try to fight the "signs of aging" and my skin still looks pretty good, but one day it won't and that's OK. I was just hanging out with my 86 year old aunt last weekend and do you think she gives a F about wrinkles?! No way! 🤣 She's just living her life enjoying her time with her daughter and her granddaughter while she still has it. She would tell you that worrying about wrinkles is a total waste of time, and I agree.

I've never really had a problem with feeling bad because of celebrities, but I often feel bad, because my dad sees such photos and tells me I have acne (And I don't have a lot, only a few pimples here and there) because I don't wash my face enough or properly. Only now I found out it's natural to have some (especially during the menstrual cycle)! I was born with light yellow teeth, but to him I have yellow teeth because I don't know how to brush them. He also didn't allow me to use antiperspirant in summer, because I was sweating only because I didn't wash myself enough and I was using it to cover the smell. But he was using one! And I found out everybody sweats + I actually sweat more because of my dysautonomia, can't influence it no matter what I do. Washing myself twice or even once a day should be enough, unless I'm sporting, which I can't do anyway. Or that I don't wash my hair enough because it gets greasy quite soon after I wash it (my hair is almost above the knees, it's -again- normal for hair to do that. He didn't know it was harmful, but I felt so bad during puberty because of it. :// Never told anyone before today actually 🙈

This was such a real and honest discussion here Cassandra. As an esthetician my self I always aim for my clients and myself to have the most healthiest skin as possible not PERFECT skin but healthy skin. I saw the unfiltered photo of beyonce and felt if her fans saw that they would immediately go in defense mode claiming she is perfect and that the non filtered photo was some how photo shopped. Unfortunately people’s minds have because warped over celebrities and the defensiveness when someone shows how we are all imperfectly perfect.

In the 80's and 90's, I'd cut out pictures of beautiful faces, bodies, even body parts from magazines like Seventeen, 16, TeenBeat, Glamour, Mademoiselle, and glue them inside of my main notebook for school. I was a huge daydreamer so whenever a lesson bored me, I'd open up the pages and dream away - dream that I was going to be like that one day. So I exercised like crazy, counting calories, always 'on a diet' as a teen ager, and not understanding 'why am I not like that? Even if (maybe) photoshop didn't fully exist back then, it never occurred to me that these girls are 1 in a thousand, that they have tons of make up on, special lighting, professional photographers etc. Even today, my relationship with food and exercise is not healthy.

I dont even know how to do it, I have not ever felt the need to look into how my phone can fake my appearance, no matter how ill I became, how much weight Ive gained or older Ive begun to look. Its life!
Personally I would feel mortified to post myself looking fit & gorgeous & then bump into my friends looking my usual self.& know they are snickering. I just dont get why people who are not making money from their appearance would bother to filter their photos as a routine habit ... its a strange pre-occupation to me & Id rather just pick a photo that I believe I look good in to post. Sometimes Ive had to take a few before im happy to post a pic, but Id never think of faking it all together.

We all have some issues on our bodies and it's totally normal. I started feel better about myself, and that helped me mentally. Now I'm focusing improving my health in general, and take care of skin and hair by eating healthy, working out, and using products that would help with some issues I have. I see improvements in my health and that makes me very happy. Thank you so much again.

I remember feeling awful and developing eating disorders when I was a teen and into my early twenties because my body (petite and very hourglass) looked nothing like any of the models in any magazine. They were all tall, with smaller breasted, no butt, no hips, no thighs, all visible ribs, etc. All the heroine chic and androgynous models were the beauty standard. Plus, I had vitiligo so good luck feeling good about my skin. Seeing more athletic looking and/or more voluptuous looking women in magazines made quite a difference

In my 20s I felt the pressure to look perfect, this was the 90s world of magazine print beauty but luckily it wasn't everywhere and I chose to honour my natural look vs editing how I looked. Fast forward 15 yrs and internet and social platforms are bombarding the public with perfect images... it's a lot. But anything that makes you feel bad about yourself, is 🚩🚩🚩. Great video discussion 🙌🏼❤

i used to compare myself to media content when i was younger because i just didn’t know about editing, filters, lighting etc. i compare myself a lot less now due to the rise in knowledge about these things, as well as about AI edits and cosmetic treatments and surgeries. but for those who don’t know these things are manipulated to their fullest extent to make photo and video content as “flawless” as possible, it can be super demoralising thinking that they’ll never be able to look that way.
also didn’t know wounds were stitched up in a jagged fashion to make the scar look more natural 🤯 that’s super interesting.

I worked in the beauty industry and dealt directly with models and international beauty queens. 90% of them have terrrible skin. In fact I was shocked just how bad. In one way it boosted my self-confidence because i realized that i look better but on the other hand it was upsetting cause it meant that real-life girls outside runways and fashion magazines glorified someone who wasn't real.

Just also the fact that selfies are mirrored, normally...most people are asymmetrical to varying degrees. So when you see a selfie taken with the front camera, meeting the person in person, there is a chance they would look a bit different. Comparison, especially on things we can't confirm are even real can be dangerous and even misleading. Beauty is present in all of us, even though we may struggle to see it.

For those of you wanting to fight acne nutritionally , you need to seriously consider eating beans . Yes , beans . (Except for those with kidney disease or compromised kidneys, in that case , opt for organic psyllium husk).
You need to make it a part of your daily life. The soluble fiber in beans will help to clear excess hormones over time. Of course in addition, do all the other conventional advice as well : plenty of water , sleep , refraining from sugar and caffeine , (even fruit , or at least drastically reduced) don’t use perfumes or scented products both personal and home , etc.

(However, If you have all of these, your photos won't need much touching up) filers are being used way out of hand. Touch ups help out A lot. Especially, if someone wants to hire you but not your exposed tattoos, this helps. Even make up helps with that too.
When it goes to just a photo and then straight to the extreme filter; No One is Going to "Really take you seriously and Hire you for Real Work"
Now for Runway and TV & Movies and just on Stage/ Broadway.
You have to have very Heavy Make up done. It's called Stage Make up.
Anyway, filters are getting out of Hand.

Well, some people are naturally stunning without the filters but makeup does help some of them A LOT! I don’t ever focus my attention on pores on people’s faces. Just the smooth, spotless face surfaces, the facial features, and so on. Men who salivate over insta models who would throw down any money to get these girls to pay them attention, do not want some gremlin to show up to a date with them. Filters won’t help in situations where it gets real. Yet, those models don’t get dumped as soon as the men see them in person. That means the majority of them really do look like that. Flawless skin, toned body and all that. I don’t compare myself to them, because those ladies are infinitely hotter than me. I know how I rank realistically, with makeup and without makeup. That’s all that’s important is that you’re real with yourself. I know I can still meet a man who’ll be crazy about me looking the way I do. He’s just gonna have to be super old (one foot in the grave) and have a real bad eyesight.

I retaliated with "that's funny considering I'm good enough when just about everyone wants to dump their kids onto me so that they can go have fun"..they quickly shut-up...😠.
