In last 7 seasons we have finished as a top 30 club every season under this ownership (unheard on in my lifetime - soon to be 45). Under Prince Abdullah we spent more in 1 season than we had in the rest of our history combined. We broke our 13 year old transfer record multiple times on players that had little to no resell value due to overpaying for dross with Wilder's British only policy.
In Heckingbottom's promotion season we had the best player in league in Illiman (skill wise, not fluke form wise before all the Chuba fans speak up) in the poorest championship season in living memory. We almost went bankrupt. So the owner played it safe and spent within our means and in return didn't sacrifice our future despite wanting to sell up for a while on the hope of keeping us in the PL and instead improve youth rating, etc.
Unfortunately, a lot of my fellow Blades forget that our Arabian Del Boy likes to wheel and deal till the end of the transfer market and have very rarely spent at the beginning. They also forget that unlike the owners at a different United, this owner has not built up ridiculous loans against the future of the club, nor has he taken money out of the club and he definitely hasn't sold the historic ground to make a quick buck. So have faith in him to do the best for the club. I would rather be embarrassed for a single season then be the next Bury.
Since 2022 Qatar World Cup was held in winter and Euro 21 was held in a somewhat post apocalyptic uncertain world, spending patterns didn't match a standard tournament summers and as such maybe many have forgotten that majority of transfers are usually done later. Along with our owners tendency to delay most of his dealings, it just look particularly bad for us right now. However, I really wouldn't worry too much. We will be okay and will finish in top 6 for sure. Our aging, high wage, always injured and under performing players are out and a fresh canvas will be full of colour come start of season.
They were in trouble the season they went up. Crazy the promotion hasn’t fixed some of the issues.
It’s because the owners had us up for sale for 2 years. According to local journalists the take over will be completed next week
@@Yates000014806it won’t
In the last promotion season we needed to sell really in January but the owner decided to back Hecky and didn't sell Berge - then Dozy showed up trying to buy the club and we were late on i believe it was one of Brewster's multimillion payments to Liverpool ( who should be seriously embarrassed they were still taking money for him based on injuries and lack of appearances) as a result we were docked 2 points this season. So Leicester can get ready if they come back down. Hardly in trouble. Yes he's trying to sell but PA has been our best owner since i can remember and I'm 60. He's never taken money out of the club, unlike some of the crooks in our history. Finally the EPL is not what its cracked up to be and is well stacked against the new sides and gets more so each year, unless you spend around 300 million on promotion like Forest did then you might have a chance.
Leeds fan. We saw first hand how disruptive a lagging takeover can be to a season.
He said that
How long did ur takeover take? Feels like ours has been going on for months and months
I've waited a few days to answer on this, because I knew some things were in the pipeline.... and the answer now has to be, no, no crisis, some very astute signings in the last couple of days, and more to come. We've offloaded some big earning non-performers and brought in some good talent, also turned down a 15m bid for Souza, a statement of intent? Maybe.. Time will tell
The fact they are sticking with Wilder is a bit mental to me.
Spot on. But so many are handcuffed to him because "he's one of our own". He's been a disaster for 4 years in management now. Brilliant for us at one stage but that's well in the past now. Love to be proven wrong but I don't think I will be.
All depends on the takeover which seems to have been going on for an age, a lot of the fans are confused as to how a team that’s spent the last 5 years either in the prem or with parachute payments can be so skint, we’ve been run awfully the last few seasons, if the takeover doesn’t go through soon, we’ll be very worried
Fingers crossed!
Wouldn’t call it a crisis myself. Yeah this season might be hit and miss. But. If the takeover comes to fruition and if the new owners have the funds I’d take an average season if it means moving forward we have an exciting squad and achieve promotion with an actual plan. Got to take the rough with the smooth. 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️ ⚔️
It does look a mess right now but it’s a bit early to write us off …. Takeover sorted next week, players lined up to come in, Burrows, O’Hare, Worrall etc, with Hamer, Arblaster, Bogle, plus loans … Souza and Anel if they stay, if not we’ll have another £30m to spend … just need a decent keeper, hopefully Mike Cooper 🤞future is bright, just need the new owners in quick and hope they have funds 😂
This season is only gonna go 2 ways, if the takeover goes through, we’ll have a good season but if this supposed takeover is all lies & isn’t true, I genuinely fear for our safety, the club has been shockingly run for the past few years, a new owner is an absolute necessity
Promotion to the Premier league is not what it seems to some clubs they tend to overspent and fail big time poor signings and poor owners Ben
We are not in a crisis situation just yet although most supporters are biting their nails in anticipation of the takeover. Obviously the sooner it gets done the better as we've already lost out on a few players we wanted 🤬 I'm confident when all is said and done we'll be battling out for a top 2 finish 🙏 C'MON YOU BLADES 👏 💪👏
I'm skeptical about new owners will they be better than PA ? hopefully but we have hada few false dawns before McDonald and Green etc.
One can only hope!
It’s a worry currently but it may be slightly early to advertise the funeral. No idea what the takeover (assuming it happens) will bring. There is a feeling that there’s a number of players lined up to come in post takeover so if all that happens it may look better. Nobody won anything before a ball is kicked so we’ll see in due course. Nobody supports United for the glory after all 😅
The Blades are the polar opposite of Ipswich.
7 seasons ago we were the same. Too much success over a short time can be hugely detrimental. Ipswich once they start spending will soon find themselves to have a wage budget of over £2 for every £1 of income, if not higher since Portman Road is slightly smaller than Bramall Lane. Without greatly improving income revenue streams Ipswich will have to either continually sell star players to keep afloat (like a Brighton/Brentford). If they buy poorly by overspending like Blades did (1st promotion season) with little or no resell value, they will have to suffer similarly until those players can be offloaded at the end of the contract. Like what we have had to do.
@rifatmahmood1670 we are buying young players that will probably double in value. Younger players also have lower wage than the so called experienced/old players. Off the pitch revenue is increasing all the time to record levels. I dont see promotion being a negative for us
@@ITFC_Mark not necessarily, buying young doesn't guarantee profit. Look at us with Brewster, McBurnie, Mousset etc, we tried the exact same thing. If you get relegated this season you're in the mud. The players you're buying for £20/30million will not sell for the price you bought them. The wage bill will be far greater and you'll be in massive debt, especially when you're spending majority of your parachute payments already.
@@ITFC_Mark My point is you can either go the Brighton/Brentford way and identify the young talents and strike it lucky (based on educated/informed decision making), or identify young promising players and have it go all horribly wrong. For example, Rhian Brewster - 23.5m spent on a 19/20 year old, considered a coup for the club, permanently injured as soon as he touches grass - 70 games 4 goals. We will be lucky to recoup 2m for him despite only being 24.
We spent close to 20m for a 23 year old Ollie Mcburnie (at the time) who scored 22 in previous Championship season and then couldn't hit a barn door for us. We ended up releasing him on a free because any sale would have been huge loss and no one would match his wages while he was still contracted to us.
Nearly all of our 130m (where we had the 6th highest net spend in PL) were under 24. But the gamble didn't work out for us.
I have always liked Ipswich and I wish you all the best, but revenues increasing for a Championship team and PL team are two different beasts if you want to become self sufficient and may require multiple seasons of yoyoing before gaining that financial stability.
It's like deja vu. The reasons are different but the situation is the same so far. We really don't want it again. Hopefully things will resolve soon.
Take over confirmed next week. 6/1 for Blades to finish top 6 is a good price!
Kiefer Moore, Callum O’Hare, Worall all link this week
Sleepwalking? They're running head first into a crisis
I forgot about that 9th place PL season. What a shame.
SU fans are looking at the other state owned teams and thinking "just make up a company or two and give us sponsorship money!"
Hi Ben, we're not in crisis. Leys be reyt, there's still weeks to go before the start of the season and most business will be done nearer the start of the season or nearer the end of the wibdow. We've still got Arblaster and Hamer who are the best centre mids in the league, or certainly right up there. Not many will have heard of Arblaster yet but trust me, they will
Add in a few more signings that will cone and im very confident well be minimum top six but probably top three. We just dont want the play offs!
You better believe we are in crisis . !
The only benefit of getting relegated being a Blade is we back on the B. B. show... 👏👏
Too kind
The owners have no ambition beyond money. Fans deserve better (from an owl)
You do too. Never disliked any other club but I'll always love united. Thinks it's pointless hating another club and there fans as they've done nothing to me personally but no fans deserve to be short changed by their owners. In worse situations what Bury went through and even Derby and Portsmouth for example no club deserves to be in a a financial mess like they were. I'd never wish any club to go through difficultly like they did.
Hope so!
Always was, always will be.. Crap

We be fine
At least our shirts are cheaper on Ebay
Maybe it's a total rebuild new ideas and new team possible but only time will tell I guess
When it is one person taking over it is a long process but we've got a consortium so they all have to be vetted and how long that takes who knows, but rumours say we will hear something this week however we've been told that before.
There are 2 people trying to buy us in jnt partnership
@@user-fi8ky5ho1v Thanks so who are these people ?
I think we will finish in the bottom 8 this season, but won’t go down. Hurts me to say, but I think Weds will finish higher than us this season.
Moore and O'Hare in - crisis? What crisis?
Rumours been going around Sheffield for a while they are struggling to get any investment.
No we're in Yorkshire.
Not in love with any of these relegated teams promotion chances, but blades seems like the worst of the three
Ben we are in massive trouble the sale is dragging on and the squad has been decimated by all the departures and as it stands just one incoming player.
As you said in the manager ranking wilder has questions to answer was he a 3 season wonder .
I’m preempting your best atmosphere in championship grounds and I have to be honest don’t rank us number one because the atmosphere has been awful recently.
Oh god I’m not looking forward to next season
It's been awful for years like almost every other club's home atmosphere in the football league. Loud home support's always been a myth in football. Unless it's a big derby, last home game of the season, night you go up or home leg of the playoffs no home support is loud. The Lane's a library after we sing greasy chip butty. As for our cup support it's embarrassing sat there with 10k watching us get knocked out of the league cup but then the following week we'll get 28k in the league. Sick to death of our league only support. Same for so many other clubs which is why these debates about who's got the best fans are pointless as most teams have half a ground full when it's the fa cup or league cup.
To be fair Benjamin, I expect you cover this again if the Blades do get out of this prolonged tourture. I gave this a like when I'm not liking your comments too much, if you know what I mean?
Yeah I do mate....takeover could change EVERYTHING though!
We now look like we’re not prepared for the Championship just like last season , Wilder promised we’d be ready so he’s obviously not getting the backing he expected , takeover needs to happen quickly ☹️
They would get relegated if they get southgate
Or bore their way to the play-off final

Both Sheffield clubs have bad ownership
don't mind videos like these if its accurate. Benjamin is a nice bloke and he warrants a lot of points about my club so its fine. i will be first to admit here we was far from good enough in the premier league last season and i don't think well recover to a point of going back up. but a few things have bugged me here. were getting new owners next week and were starting to sign players. we have parachute payments and kept majority of our better players so why would we be in a crisis. i just think we wont go back up this time that's about it. probs do a Watford. biggest laugh for me is Wednesday fans in this chat. another thing i will admit here is that Sheff wed have made a couple of better signings than what they have over past few seasons and will improve. but what is there to laugh about they will improve slightly and there behaving like there going to win league and then laugh at us for being poor last season yet Wednesday haven't even been in premier league since 1999. we haven't even played em for last 5 years because of us being in a higher division. seen another comment further down from a sheff utd fan getting flack for saying premier league is much harder and he's right. we have yoyo between both so we know most same as Norwich and a few others. the gap between premier league and championship is huge. we went up 2nd and Burnley destroyed championship 2 years ago yet we both got slaughtered last year. its not even close in quality. anyway i know your an Ipswich fan Benjamin and i hope you have a good time in the premier league good luck.
gwt rid of Wilder
Even though he has limited experience Rosenoir would be first choice for me. Did a great job at Hull last season and was the only reason they got anywhere near the top 6.
Look i think your missing the point its the day out that count's silly man 😂
No money, no kit, the women’s team has 3 players under contract, league 1 looming.
I had a half asleep vision about wednesday doing the double against sheff utd . So I guna bet on it ❤ love ur independence view .
Just like when Carlos had a dream to get to the premier league but it turned out he was dreaming about league 1
We have to hope for the takeover to finish ahead of January don’t we, still half a season to sort shit out 😂
🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷
What you might not realise Ben, is that Sheff Utd once again hedged their upcoming parachute payments for the next 2 seasons in June '23, with the Australian vampire bank, Macquarie. It's reported they have charges against the company totalling £80M plus interest, with income from parachute payments over the next 2 seasons totalling £76M - £4M less, plus interest, than they owe. In other words, they have no parachute payment money to use, and need to find more to service this outstanding debt. To say they are in a mess is being kind. If their takeover doesn't go through - and rumours are now suggesting the deal could be off if not completed by 20th July '24 - they are in a crisis. Like a lot of clubs, they've gambled financially and failed and will ultimately pay the price for that.
All just rumours or misinformed facts, as a PLC all information relating to monies and assets are open and available to shareholders and interested parties, monies involved in the Australian bank are tied to United World, including such companies as Errea and not the football club (which is legally protected)
@@1889jonny So the ground being used as an asset for Macquaries is also misinformation too I suppose? And the debts showing in your recently signed-off accounts, must be your accountants getting it all wrong. And The Star, reporting on this back in June '23. Is that just a rumour too? It doesn't matter how the debt is structureed, it all comes back to the football club. Why do you think all of your big earners have moved, or will be shortly?
The Prince has had to finance your latest signings. He will also need to offset this. I can see Hamer being sold as part of that.
As for the takeover, last night I've seen further proof that the Prince is ready to pull this at the weekend. This has now come from two sources associated with the club. And even if that takeover goes through, the company fronting it are in an investment company. Do you think the investors will not want their payday? When that happens, you'll be in even more of a crisis than you are now.
🤣🤣🤣🤣yes they are, bring on steel city derby, easiest 6 points in swfc history
Any ITK’s lurking around here ?
Wilder keeps getting away with it cus he's a blade
His record over the last 3 years has been absolutely shite
Flopped at utd twice, Watford and Middlesbrough
While signing rubbish at big prices
Keep wilder ,they won't get anywhere near playoffs
Bet you wasn't saying that from league 1.. Watford and Middlesborough... what other managers just previous and after wilder has been successful at those 2 clubs.. I will wait
Why is the only comeback for defending Wilder "you weren't saying that when he took us from league one to the premier league". We'll always be grateful for that and he's the best manager at United in my lifetime but you can also acknowledge how shite he's been for the past 4 years. The two aren't mutually exclusive. He worked wonders for years and was happy to lap up all the praise but as soon as the wing back system got found out he took no responsibility for anything and threw everyone under the bus slagging players off publicly all the time. Even if the players were shite basically saying it's a championship side after every loss when we got relegated helps no one and made it even more miserable in that relegation season as his attitude stunk. His press conferences and personality for years hasn't been likeable. Bottled the playoffs in his first season at Middlesbrough despite having games in hand then the next season he's slagging the chairman and players off publicly, football's dire and they've only won 2 of their last 11 and are in the bottom three when he was sacked. They'd have been relegated had he not gone. Souza was slagging the team off publicly but he kept picking him to play last season, shouldn't have played Anel again after he purposely got sent off against Forest but he chose to, did the same with Holgate after his red card. Talked constantly about building for the future and we needed to prepare as well as possible for this season by promoting the academy players to get them as ready as possible for this season but instead he wasted loads of time carrying on picking the jokers that don't even want to be at the club anymore and will downtools again this season if we don't sell them. We don't even need to get into the amount of money pisses away on his shite transfers that have not lived up to the price tag. Brewster, McBurnie, Robinson, Freeman, Berge, Ramsdale all a waste of money.
Lets be honest, PA fell lucky with Wilder's rise through the leagues. (who I believe was appointed by mccabe) It has papered over a very poor tenure.
Hi mate good content we shouldn't have sacked hecky .... Wilder is know better than hecky

(Going to try my best to go through it in chronology)
We are being taken over, yes it is not ideal but any previous plan would have been torn up or put on hold because the situation had changed. This takeover has also been reported locally to be under EFL scrutiny as well.
The selling our best player point (even though Berge as our best player is arguable and was replaced by a better player in Hamer). Both Ilman and Berge were on the final year of their contract and had refused to renew. Because of the financial deals of signing like Brewster, the COVID season and the relegation we couldn't afford these players to leave on a free. We also used that money to buy players that we could sell. So even though I don't like it as fan, what they did makes perfect sense.
Finally, without a takeover and selling any players. Our current starting 11, barring the keeper with the addition of a few loans and free signing will still be one of the strongest in the league and are miles better than our neighbours (who are playoff contenders apparently).
Our fan base is the sort of fan base who would complain that we didn't sign Ronaldo after unveiling Messi on a free transfer from Inter Miani (and they were still paying his wages).
This narrative is just getting disrespect now. Yes, we had a bad season but without a takeover, we would top 6 minimum, with it would be hard not to call us a banker for the top 2.
