    I like to use my red light box when watching TV.
    My wife does not appreciate the reflected red light that she compares to staring at a nuclear explosion.
    So I decided to just use the near infra-red only.
    I started a comparison test by just treating my left foot only.
    I wanted see if it would help some peripheral neuropathy on that foot.
    I positioned the unit where I could have it shine on the sole of the left foot while reclining.
    Total exposure was probably 4 hours over three nights.
    On arising on the second day my inflamed left knee felt better, not well just better.
    The third morning it was even better, again not well but better.
    The knee has been hurting for years while I tried various anti-inflammatory remedies.
    This has been the best of the attempts and it was incidental to trying to treat PN.
    Have you run into this kind of “sideways” benefit from red light therapy???
    BTW I use an SGROW Model: RS300, 660nm and 850nm, 300 watts

    Is there any research on osteoarthritis of the hip?
    Which size of light is best for the hip?
    Do improvements tend to be subjective pain scores, inflammation on blood tests, x-ray, phyiscian examination of mobility/range of movement etc?

    • @mychondria
      @mychondria  Год назад +1

      Yes, the study below was used for patients with hip osteoarthritis that underwent surgery. Red light therapy was shown to significantly decrease subjective pain scores and also inflammation by blood tests.

      You could use a MyLight MOVE (portable) or MyLight MIDI (larger surface area, plug in, with kick stand or door mount options).

    Is the relief from arthritic pain permanent or temporary? thanks for your informative video.

      Since there wasn't a follow up with the participants in this study, it is not possible to say.
      With the reduction in inflammation it would be safe to assume these benefits could only be sustained if no further inflammation occurred in the joints.
      Since there are many reasons why the inflammation could come back, it would be best to have a home device so that you could manage your symptoms in the long term.

    Is near infrared or red light best for hip osteoarthritis?
    Which product do you most recommend for the hip area?

    • @mychondria
      @mychondria  Год назад +2

      Both red and near-infrared have been used in clinical trials for treating hip osteoarthritis.
      A MyLight MOVE is best if you want something portable, whereas a MyLight MIDI covers a larger surface area and could be setup on a chair or other surface to target your hip. Both devices can be found below:

    Can the arthritis get worse before it gets better using this? I bought a lamp for muscle pain. But I have arthritis in my hands. So my hands have been in front of the lamp and I have used it twice but I feel like pain is worse.

      What kind of lamp? Perhaps you’ve got an infrared lamp, which is different to red light therapy

      @@mychondria oh sorry yes infrared. Should I not be using? Though this is supposed to be good for pain too.

      Oh infrared lamp: I (55 years old) bought it the other day and used it for about 4 treatment sessions. Then I felt as if all my strength had been drained from my body. When I stood up, I had to hold on to the chair. Now that I have bought a LED panel, I feel my health has returned. Infrared lights seem to be terrifying forces to me!

      I did a red light therapy session today and am noticing pain and inflammation in the hands as well. I dont think it created inflamation last time I did it though.. it was a year ago.
