the best analysis of the action reaction of Hamas and Israel I have heard. We humans need to begin to care for each other peacefully instead of creating violence. It's time to be obedient to God's law, Thou shalt not kill, and find solutions that our minds and hearts can accept. I don't express it as well as you.

Insightful as always, but I was disappointed that Russell's answer on the Israel question didn't acknowledge the intense pain many Christians feel (and this was reflected in the question) at the suffering of the people of Gaza. A visceral aching deserves a visceral response - not that more theological or ethical reflections such as those he offers are unhelpful, but they are not the only help we need in grappling with this dreadful situation as disciples of Jesus.
