And they were great - better than the other opening acts on the tour (Cliff Bennett's Rebel Rousers and Peter and Gordon). I've just got into the Rattles from seeing the surviving TV footage of the Beatles' concert in Munich on that tour, released as a limited-edition DVD by Vevo.
And they had an exchange with the early Beatles in Hamburg in 1961-62 as well. Lately, I watched documentary DVD titled "The Beatles with Tony Sheridan" - early days documentary of the Beatles. And Herbert Hildebrandt(Bass player of the Rattles) appears on it and tells the story of those days. In fact, that's why I got interested in the Rattles and got here and watched 1966 live show clip, too. I realized that they are great German band.
I had heard The Witch as a 45 on Top 40 station. Great song especially album version; however I believe that the 45 version was enhanced if I recall. For some reason I had thought that it was in 1969. I still have the 45 but can't find it at the moment. I have never heard the album- good find- not great but diff.; actually ahead of its times as to mix.
After hearing more of Edna Bejarano I'm liking her a lot better than I did comparing her version of "The Witch" with the one the Rattles recorded two years earlier with a male singer. I was surprised she was from Israel since the name sounds Hispanic (were her family Sephardic Jews from Spain?). Interesting bit of trivia that her mom was an Auschwitz survivor.
This is brilliant. I loved "The Witch", it used to get played at certain biker shindigs in the early 80's. Never heard the album before. It'll go well with "Lonesome Crow" ;)
Rescue Me seems like an obvious single. (Maybe with less production in the middle section, more guitar.) Might have broken through in the US. 'The Witch' was probably too out there for casual US listeners.
@@TorigoyaSound if you don't mind, you should check Indonesian psychedelic rock bands in this playlist here ruclips.net/video/-pBU8YA9eAs/видео.html I am sure you would not regret it.
@@denskiiyy Thanks Denny!! Oh! I know this ThePsychedelicGomper channel because I love psychedelic rock of whole world of those days. I sometimes check this channel. But I had not known this playlist of Indonesian bands. Now I am playing this. Great! Thank you again!
Rewelacyjne bębny, gitara, wokal, flet, skrzypce, muzyka.
Thanks for posting . I’m going to enjoy this. I half remembered there big hit UK ‘Can’t You See The Witch’.

What a great album
The Rattles were a support act for The Beatles on their 1966 tour of Germany.

cauliflower - Blumenkohl❤
Masterpiece!
Commenting for future reference. My favorites are The Witch, Virgin, Rescue,
The whole album is an absolute killer but Rescue Me is on another level.
Proto-Alternative Rock. This could have been on MTV in the 90s.
WoW !!!

pretty cool album!
Mind blowing cool.

Please don't hit me, I think the Rattles are “better” than the Beatles. \,,/
