I feel like the Human Alastor being in love with Demon Alastor as a ship is less romantic/sexual and more shows a story of him falling in love with an idealized version of himself that he wants to be. He becomes obsessed with become this to the point where it consumes him. And he succeeds. He becomes the demon he always wanted to.
You took the words right out of my mouth. This is exactly what I believe happened to the human version of Alastor before he became known as the radio demon. I personally like this video for its portrayal of how Alastor came to love and accept his demonic side, and this song was an excellent choice for this character.

considering his design. He's a former radio host and a southern serial killer who died in 1933. My thoughts on his background. He was at first an avid hunter. But one day an accident happened. He shot another person. And seeing them writhing in agony, out in the woods....he finished them and hid the body. But it awoke something else. And his killing spree began. He was captured in 1931. He attempted escape in 1933, and the dogs the jailors and wardens sicced on him tore him apart.
I think he died because someone also accidentally shot him because they thought he was a deer,which considering he has deer horns ,makes a lot of sense,but is also very ironic

See, Hazbin Hotel did a really good job making all the characters super likable, especially Alastor.
And then I come across amazing shit like this and I remember that this is a show about demons in Hell. Alastor earned his place in the burning inferno, and that solidifies when I see human Alastor. He made his reputation on blood all for the sake of satisfying boredom.
I don't realize how fucking ruthless Alastor can be till I see fanart like this and acknowledge it's completely in character.
