    I feel like Nicky's play was the kind of thing where because he was already going to do it without them being evil, it seemed like a good thing to do. But it just ended up making them look suspicious. (Not to mention the chef and seamstress kinda pointed at that world anyway.)

    One of the few things that I watch as soon as I see them show up. Thanks guys. You have helped me through a hard time by distracting me with your amazing game. Keep it up.

    Feels really bad that Dakota had a good script, but it was just screwed by Nicky’s super suspicious play and the combo of informations. Although I have to say, this is one of the time I would have tried to give a bit more advantage to evil as the storyteller. Like making the chef drunk to defend the trio.

    I remember this one. Fair play for putting it up, I feel like it was super rough right from the get-go. You weren't around for like 90% of my confusion over my savant info for the first three days. Never even considered that I might just have been the Drunk

    I mean Ben we have just the wheely bins here too we just call them dumpsters as well. We use them for both the small single home ones and the massive dumpsters like outside of McDonalds.

    Definitely had their backs against the wall there.
    *Spoilers:*
    It felt like all of the evils had one major misplay that added up to the end.
    Nicky chose to have the three way chat at the start (and both evils accepted).
    Ben chose to assassinate on the night where the Gossip kill happened and may have hidden the Zombul and the truthfulness of the gossip with only one kill.
    Chris chose to swap his minions with each other instead of making one his minions the new Zombul.
    So, to anyone believing that one particular thing blew this game for the evil team (esp the day one convo), here's an argument for if any one of the above items didn't happen, they may not have been a big deal. The fact that they all happened is what sealed it.

    • @diamondsky3787
      @diamondsky3787 2 года назад +5

      I agree, if Chris had been the one suggesting the three way chat, it would look def less suspicious, Ben killing was wrong and Chris should have switched the Zombuul

      @@diamondsky3787 If you Barber-swap the old Zombuul, wouldn't they come back to life though since registering as dead is part of the Zombuul ability which they are no longer?

  • @DanteLucien
    @DanteLucien 2 года назад +12

    I completely get Dakota being down. Although with BOTC you are still part of the game even when dead, its frustrating to not get to use your ability or to have a run of bad games. I think she did the right thing taking herself away for a little while to chill out.

    I have been saving up to get this game and I have been pretty excited about it. Watching this episode has me second guessing if I should get it. When Ben starts acting pissy that people want to kill him, it sucked the fun out of the episode and made me realize how volatile this game is. If one person starts not having fun (or acting that way), that could crash the enjoyment for everyone. Given how hard it would be to get enough people together in the first place I don't know if a game this fragile would be worth it. Also the night phase, this was from a player perspective episode and the night phases were unbearably long. If a charter does not do anything at night, that seems like an awful long time to be sitting with their eyes closed.
    Can you talk be back into being excited to get this?

    • @bennburns
      @bennburns 2 года назад +17

      It's a lot shorter in-person because you don't have to have a whole conversation with the player. You just tap them on the shoulder and show them a card or a hand signal. Typically, in a 15-player game of TB, I can get the night phase done in under a minute. For a 9-player one, it takes less than 30 seconds.
      As for me 'acting pissy'. I don't remember what you're referring to, but if a display of me fighting vehemently to survive has upset you so much that you've begun to question whether or not it might ruin the whole game for you then I agree, this isn't the game for you. People will get rowdy, passionate, and scrap for survival. It's what makes the game fun for those of us that love it. It's our job, as Storytellers, to take that energy and craft it into an exciting, narrative experience. It sounds to me like you'd find that to be more frustrating than exhilarating and that's OK. This game isn't for everyone and there are plenty of more sedate social deduction games out there that will probably be your cup of tea.

      @@bennburns Thank you for the reply. Maybe I should seek out someone else in my area that has the game instead of getting it myself. Just to clarify, I didn't think you were acting that way, you said you were doing it as a strategy to get suspicion off of you (maybe I used the wrong word to describe it). I just realized at that moment that if someone starts acting like they are not having fun it could tank the whole game experience for everyone. Hopefully I can see some in person games to get a better feel for that.

    I am not sure whether Nicky and Ben have a friendly thing going on or Nicky is just a dirtbag, for categorically going for Ben. It simply isn't a funny thing to do, it also forces a lot of weird interaction in a game with both of them and lastly, if Ben wants to prevent it, he needs to refuse to play with Nicky. So what exactly does Nicky get out of it? If he really hates Ben, I guess he gets something. Otherwise he loses out in many ways. If this is him genuinely being a constant ass, I just think it's rather childish and Ben should stop playing when Nicky is around.
    I do hope it is just a bad running joke though, but my impression of Nicky suggests the opposite.
