  • As I'm restoring and repairing this Bally Air Aces EM pinball machine, I'm retro-fitting the lighting system and replacing incandescent bulbs with LEDs and specifically the difference between "warm" and "cool" white LEDs and how to implement them. For more visit: / pinballhelp pinballhelp.com

    I put LEDs in the GI as well nothing like warped plastics on the old style filiment bulbs.
    Have to watch them so they don't get super hot and melt plastics.
    And I'll fully LED any pinball game don't care what others think of it.

    Does the warmness vary at all bewteen suppliers/brands? While those are warmer than the cool ones they're still not as warm as the incandescent I have in my EM. I really love the warm glow so just wondering.

    Hi mate. Thanks for that, I have been contemplating replacing the lights, however, my biggest problem is those crummy light fittings. A lot of them only work when I hold them in a certain place. I had thought of replacing the bastards but that is going to add up.

      I use some scotch brite rolled into a cylinder to clean the light fixtures. You can also take some pliers and bend them slightly so they hug the bulbs more.

      Thanks for that. I bought some rubber nail polisher inserts for a dremmel like machine and did the bending trick. However, I think that most of the problem lies at the bottom connector of the fitting. As I understand it, the Spanish bulb holders are well known for that. However thanks anyway.

    hoepully they will be able to imturize the fillment style LEDs to pinball bulb size, in al the colors WW, CW, Red oruange yellow green, teal, blue, voilet and megenta, that would make the exposed bulbes look more like the old ones

    Hey, I've been thinking of buying a Ace High pinball. The backglass is in horrible condition and will need to be replaced. How much do you think is a fair price?

    PINBALLHELP,,
    ... Why does using 47 bulbs use 40% of less power compared to using 44 bulbs? any reasons why?

    • @dangermartin69
      @dangermartin69 3 года назад

      Because they draw less current. The filament is basically a resistor, and the 47 bulbs use a lower resistance filament, hence they aren't as bright.

    PINBALLHELP ,, // 1.) When a switch is CLOSED the PIA chip will send a memory address back to the MPU chip to tell the MPU which switch matrix address has been Open/closed?
    // 2.) When a Lamp light is turned ON/OFF the MPU sends a strobe data signal/row & column data signal to tell the PIA chip which memory address to turn ON/OFF which lamp light in the lamp/light matrix?
    // 3.) PIA chips are acting like an address decoder chip for all the switches and lamps
    Each switch and lamp/light has a specific memory address to each switch and lamp/light for the PIA chip to turn ON/OFF?
