I remember in early 2016 I went AFK on the Tower and just started dancing.
I came back to 8 different people all dancing around me 😂

Only in destiny 1 where I had moments where I’m danceing or sitting with randos in the tower and having a fun time messing around hell it still happens whenever I play this game it’s great (:
D2 has so many chore style feeling things in it that it makes u stop and have no time for nobody I guess haha.

@@43liL yes destiny 2 still has these moments but aren’t as common at least on my end
@@43liL in d1, pretty much every game i was able to just sit somewhere in the map and have a friendly adversary sit next to me or dance a bit before getting a free kill.
In d2, it took me 3years to get an moment like those. There is a tone of multiplayer emote yet nobody uses them with randos.
Only in D1 have I gotten an invite from the tower and got to meet people
We once had a conga chain going around the tower, started it with my raid team of 6 ( 3 players loading in to the tower till they find the other 3 ) and after a bit every player in the tower had joined the line and kept it going for about 20mins or so 😂 I wonder if I’ve still got that clip…

I still play to this day and meeting people never ceases to be fun / cool.
So I recently went back and replayed D1 because back when I originally played it I stopped after Taken King and I wanted to experience Rise of Iron. But since it was a different console I had to start from the beginning. I was lvl 3 when I ran into this lvl 40 player, didn't think anything about it, it's an old game there's tons of max lvl players. Then he messaged me asking to join me. Long story short, we became fast friends and eventually this guy coached me through my very first raid. So I have a definite fondness for D1 and it's wonderful community ❤

Wait what ? I play destiny 2 since launch but i never played destiny 1 and always wanted to but was scared i was gonna have to do everything solo cause everyone left d1 and went to d2. People are still playing ? I might get into d1 then.
@@josamnesia2123 heck yeah man, I was honestly surprised too. Fair warning though, going from D2 to D1 will probably be pretty jarring at first but once you get the hang of it it's a fun experience. Also idk if there's cross play but I play on PS4 and would be down to play D1 again if you ever were interested

Bro, the social environment’s definitely different in this game! I was at the Iron Temple the other day for a whole-ass hour goofing off climbing the mountains with a couple of randoms and they later offered me to come along for Raids, Nightfalls, and Challenge Of The Elders that same day. I was 376 Light Level and they still wanted to play with me while simultaneously helping me out. Now I’m nearing 390 again like the old days. …We shared in a lot of laughter and friended each other to play other games, too. You just don’t get that in D2 at all... That day was easily one of the greatest in Destiny 1 I’ve ever had, ever. Long live D1!!

It’s definitely not a masterpiece, but that’s also why people like it. The game definitely has more “charm” than D2
Bog Ramble Time: I believe one of the reasons why people in D1 social spaces are so friendly is because of the restrictions on emotes. In D2, you can customize all of your emote slots. But in D1, you’re forced to have a wave, dance, and sit. Because of this restriction, people seem a lot more friendly because it feels like an actual interaction.

Haha I always have a sit on the bottom, and a wave on top, feels wrong not to.
Just happens to be that the ‘sit’ is the ‘touch grass’ emote and the ‘wave’ is the ‘celebrate victory emote
D2 emote spamming is the pinnacle of showing off, it’s more like “hey look what I got, you’re most likely poor and I am special” instead of “hello nice to meet you”, nobody even barely even do the crouch spam anymore. Well I guess it’s probably got to do with the fact that my server is filled to the brim with Chinese players, so maybe that’s why

Literally the way that I got in a clan and did my first ever raid was thanks to one of these moments. I was just in the tower, chilling, then doing a conga line, then emoting and dancing and stuff and eventually we all just messaged each other and that was how I made some of my best gaming friends to this date.

A lot of players have gone back to D1 recently and created new characters. I talking players with 5200 plus grim scores. I’ve been back s weeks now. Helped my youngest son do Croat on level 30. First try he gets black hammer.
My dad also played d1, wonder if we could 3/4 counting your son play d1 together 😊. What console do you guys play on?

My brother and I just downloaded D1 on Xbox again to run through all the content. It's still so much fun but quite more difficult than I remember. POE was the first thing we got back into and man it was a lot of fun. Also, saw that I had the beta emblem still equipped on my main warlock 👍

This is why I love destiny, in d2 tower you just get what you need to get and leave, You can still see stuff like this in d2 but its rare, I wish d1 was still the main game, it holds magic that d2 cant hold.
Destiny 2 feels like you’re going to get into a knife fight with randos. Destiny 1 has actual players.
Just the other day or two I met random people in the tower because my friend was dancing or I wanted to try the vault parkour. I now have two more friends.

a few weeks ago some guy helped me do the glitch to get on top of the vaults, no communication. he then added me and we did crota, that was fun

Glad I found this comment. Everyone else is acting like this doesn't happen in D2. It absolutely does. Ff people stop grinding for 5 seconds and go up to a few randos and emote, I guarantee a few other will join in for a bit.
@@MegaDrainProductions loving d2 is great, this is just a more consistent and routine occurrence in D1 because of the player base, I’ve had great times in D2 myself but at the end of the day I don’t think people think “no this couldn’t happen or doesn’t happen in D2”, it’s just not common that it occurs at the same rate. I can tbag or emote in d1 and in a tower with 16 people I can get nearly every single one to dance, tbag, glitch, or whatever else with me and it can happen in almost every single tower unless it’s brand new players who I’ve found are usually too focused on their quests or raid teams prepping to leave.

This is why I play xbox live D1, I won't act like D1 is/was perfect and it created sunsetting in it's first form..
I do like it though cause of it's STILL small tight nit fun community!
(D1 has a fun community where if you get into raid speedrunning, you meet people you partied with in the tower and can make friendships too)
I was 9 when the game out which makes me 17 years old now. I was young and my parents weren't with buying a teen rated game and it was funny because I remember being so bad at the game and keeping myself entertained with the demo version!
Unfortunatley we lost a lot of stuff in D1 and D2 but my comfort game and the game I play to branch out with friends I've made years ago!
The difference is D1 is there to have fun. Where D2 is work, there is D1 to great you with a "simple" game. Im so angry ad D2, because it lost this wonderful feeling of a game and turned into a job for most players. I love D1, because it was a singleplayer game where your choice to play with others was yours and not a requirement.

I dont know if Destiny 2 cultivates a more toxic fan base, if the PC community addition is toxic, if F2P opened up the community to more toxicity, a combination of these factors, or something I can't guess.
PC players ruin almost every game. They take games way to serious. I mean when you sit at a desk to play a game it’s not relaxing at all, basically like you have a second job.
lovely to see - I have a theory that they will shut down the D1 servers in the near future. With Sony's stance on console generations, I can imagine them saying "Bungie, what are you doing? keeping D1 servers up is a waste of resources, shut them down!" From a business perspective, it totally makes sense, but it will be a sad day

Absolute truth. I quit Destiny 2 in October 2017 and Bungo has continually fucked up since then. Nothing in D2 holds a candle to D1 Age of Triumph
