- New format. I'm getting a lot of questions lately, so what better way to answer them than with a new video. I'll be doing a series of these so feel free to ask any questions in the comments below.
I'll also be interviewing some pros from around the creative industry asking them how they got their jobs too. So stay tuned for that
This is how I got my job. But things have changed over the last few years, so I will follow up with how I would recommend you to get a job in comics.

Comic artist trying to break in here! I'm right in the middle of the "Your good but not good enough yet" phase. Rejection can be a little discouraging but stories like your's encourage me to keep going. Too bad all of the conventions are getting canceled this year. :(
It can be tough, but keep on going you will get there.

high school junior here. doubt you'll see this, but it's been a dream of mine for a long time to illustrate for marvel. my grades aren't very good, drawing is the only thing i feel semi-confident in, and i've been practicing like hell. this industry is just so discouraging sometimes. i wonder if i'll ever make it. there's a lack of direction in most videos i see about this subject other than "go to college". i really do feel more encouraged after hearing your journey. do you have any tips for breaking into comics in 2023?

I have a question for you,
in marvel comics there is alot of study of the body and muscles involved in the characters and i was wondering how was it that you learnt the skills of drawing bodies, did you pick it up over time or did you practice until you were flawless?

Both really. But I wouldn't say I am flawless. I always have loads to learn. But that is half the fun
I try to break into comics between 1998_2012...it was incredible hard, I painted marvel characters on the wall...now I am planning to write off to Marvel comics.
I like to comic covers and comic posters.

Hi Will, how long were you doing the samples and making the portfolio before you broke into the industry? I'm currently working on my portfolio now so hearing your video talk about the challenges you faced helps put things into perspective!
It took a while for sure. I can't remember exactly. I was fulltime in comics by 2008 and I finished college in 2005 so I guess just under three years. But everyone is different

It's hard to very very hard to break into comics , Iike i said I painted the murals of marvel characters in maidstone kent..I am still proud of, just sent my work off to 2000ad comics, next Marvel , DC ..dark horse etc ..this is good video.

Should i look at old comics and new and try and replicate the style?
Sure! No harm for practicing, eventually then you will want to leave that behind and work on pages of your own.
Sir , just wanted to ask I am from India and I love to draw characters and create my own characters . So am I able to have a job at Marvel and what course is needed . And love from India sir I loves your art 😍😍😍🤗🤗
No course needed. Just keep practicing your drawing always.
