Over the years I’ve gotten a lot of questions about how I make my videos, or video essays in general. And so instead of responding to each DM and comment one by one, I figured I would just try and put it all into one video. I’m by no means an expert, I’m far from the biggest and best video essayist on this platform, but this is just my process and some of the things I’ve learned in the 5 years I’ve been doing this. If you’re a beginner, this video is for you, but if you’re already making videos for the internet, maybe stick around, because I need you to catch when I’m doing something stupid. What's the best microphone for video essayists? What's the best camera for RUclips? What's the best video editor? How do you get movie clips?

as a "content creator" this video actually did inform me of some things I didn't know! do you think this'll just be a one-off video or do you think you'll make more like it in the future? (like how you make your prewrites/film pitches? as I'm currently trying to write a superhero story but am dealing with things like writers block, but seeing your process may help out)

As someone who’s been doing video essays for maybe almost a year I will say when trying to do stuff like godzilla(favorite Franchise) it’s really hard to get footage because of course toho is very strict when it comes to copyright. So doing a vid I have planned will be fun to edit 💀

Oh my gosh, thank you so much! You have no idea how helpful this video was! I have been wanting to make essays at the next level forever and I’m so tired of just using Photos! I had no idea that USB disc player drives were still a thing! The last one that I had was years ago on a very old windows machine before I myself got an iMac and final cut pro. Now I have a tangible goal to hopefully make this a reality! I have cerebral palsy, and I really want to show that having a disability doesn’t mean that you can’t use your voice if you have one, and have something to say! Thanks again!

Here's a couple of helpful tip I learned (more to come periodically):
-Slowing down/speeding up footage, adding a filter, or changing the color-grading can really help in preventing copyright strikes.
-Have a video that did badly and a video that is doing very well? Link to the poorly performing one in your end card!
