The requirement for a clean police record exists for very logical reasons and is about protecting people and ensuring trust in various roles. For example, would you want someone convicted of rape to work in a kindergarten? Of course not. Similarly, in other areas, you wouldn’t want to hire an economist convicted of embezzlement to manage finances. These examples illustrate why the requirement for a clean record is necessary in certain positions and sectors.

And I had a social studies citizenship education teacher in middle school who taught us how to manage the NYT - she showed us how to fold it AND read it on the subway. AND she taught us to READ the NYT as a complement to what we still had, namely a local paper.
I have never used twitter or ticktock. I just talked with someone who lives in central coast ca. They talk to friends in SoCal and use local newspapers to get information about the ‘LA’ fires.

Back in the dinosaur age when I was in high school we had a class called Civics. We were taught that a convicted felon lost the right to vote and certainly couldn't hold an elected office much less the Presidency. What the Hell happened to US in the last 67 years?! I also remember in 1960 Khrushchev banging his shoe on the table of the United Nations and shouting "We will bury you (The USA) without ever firing a shot!" Very depressing times and seems so hopeless.
I’m all for Civics classes. I,too, had Civics in school. I’m often surprised about the gaps in my very well-educated sons’ knowledge. They turn to Mommy for some info and facts. They’re in their mid- sixties and still ask Mom.😘
