I first came to Crete (Shaffer) in 2017 It was one of the best decision I made. Did the Walmart dedicated in 2018 for Paul’s Valley. Left and came back in 19’. Left again and came back in 21’ stayed for two months. Then came back in 22’ and been back since. In between those times I had two pneumatic bulk jobs, and I loved them. Till the pay fell off but it was some easy work. I hauled cement (I live in Alabama)
You're thinking about Lenoir City terminal next to Knoxville. Anyway, I work for Crete for about two years and I was still a truck number, but I love their customers and the amount of drop/hook they have.
I started in 2019 and I drove my car there since I lived 2.5 hours away. My truck was there and my first load was a Hershey candy load to grand view Washington to a Walmart dc.
OK thank you man. Also, does Crete have some kind of AI Scoring system like ATS (Anderson Trucking Service) that has their Lytx System? An example is that if you do 60 MPH on a 55 MPH Zone, your score drops therefore you don't qualify for "safe miles"? Love tour Channel BTW man. You seem like an awesome dude!
No holiday pay or layover pay. Detention kicks in 2 hrs after waiting to be loaded/unloaded. They put a forward and backward facing camera in your truck the first 60 days and every time you mess up they’ll put the camera back in your truck. There is a probation period when you first hire on. I’ve been here 3 weeks and that’s what they won’t tell you. So far. Can’t wait to see what else is in store
It's not just for bad drivers. It had been years since we had true otr experience. My husband had been working for pepsi for 8 years, so we got the camera for 60 days instead of a trainer. Neither one of us has had a ticket or accident. If you're a good driver the camera shouldn't be an issue, and if it is, then maybe you need the evaluation of your driving habits.
I disagree entirely. I worked for CCC nearly 4 years. There are pros but other than money…there’s no reason in working for a company that treats you as a truck number.
All big companies are gonna treat you as truck number. Idgaf what they call me as long as they pay me and respect me when I say “no I won’t go across Donner pass in that blizzard”
What sounds stressful to me is changing companies so often. Spinning your wheels and not building seniority, building your 401k and getting the full benefits of profit sharing. I could not go thru orientation for each company that many times or I would go crazy. Just me I guess.
You’re not gonna build that 401k without maximizing your income and contributions. More money more 401K. But most companies barely have a decent match for that.
@@scouttrucker It’s not about how much you make. It’s about how much you keep. On what most truck companies pay like Crete you will be surprised at how much that 401k grows, compounded interest, tax free (Roth) putting 10% of your paycheck into it. Also the profit sharing at Crete can turn into some serious money if you would stop jumping around from job to job and get fully invested. At your age time is your friend. You could retire very wealthy if you would stop jumping ship every 6 months. Compounding interest, tax free interest and free money thru profit sharing you are way under estimating the benefits of that.
@DG-mo5kr I don’t need a financial lesson and I haven’t jumped ship every six months 🤣 and also I haven’t even worked for Crete for 3 years. You’re confused bud.
@reginaldoppenheimer334 they hired me as a driver and then kept me on the dock running a forklift because they don’t know what a CDL means. I won’t even give them the honor of mentioning them on camera. They essentially lied to me to recruit me. Just basic BS trucker company BS
@@412hwcThat's a lie, I work with Crete now, I get paid 65 a mile and do over 2500 miles a week, and Walmart is voluntary you don't have to accept Walmart
@@412hwc That's false you don't have to do the Walmart account, Crete is not forced dispatch at all, you can turn down loads all day. Also depending on what account you're on, you will get over 2500miles
Crete as well as all the other trucking companies are not there for the drivers. They only care about getting the load done as cheap as possible. You will go broke working for any of them. If you are suckered into their truck purchase programs, then you really just got screwed.
You couldn't be more wrong I work for RTI currently and am treated very well and paid well.... before that was CFI.....at least before heartland bought them and changed things.....
When I see videos like this I look at the face of who crete is actually catering to even if the RUclipsr is unaware of the bias treatment of drivers that drives for Crete. I didn't see diversity at crete & I'm a previous 48 state shaffer driver at crete & was making 500 to 600 hundred dollars check barely wasn't running 48 state & my dispatcher was Craig.. and people want to speak on job hopping like there isn't a reason behind it due to the unfair bias treatment of not getting any miles $500 to $600 checks consistently no ending sight .
The only time I made that low was when I myself was being lazy and wanted extra days off. I am not the “face of” any company. Youre showing a bias just by saying that. If you’re a worker in a company that has as big a network as Crete, you’ll make money. If you argue with dispatchers and refuse loads or seem lazy, you won’t. ZERO of my dispatchers saw my face and on paper I’m Native American (Lumbee) so don’t even try that lol
Yes... because I want the qualifications of who is driving a big heavy truck to be focused on skin color. Not experience. Not safety history. Skin color.
This is the biggest crap that I've heard and I'm a Crete driver now, all 48 and I'm a black male and get plenty of miles, and I know for a fact Shaffer driver get more miles than on the Crete side, and I can get 3k miles a week sometimes
@soulfulsin836 some people wanna talk trash about a company instead of admitting their own faults lol. Plus it isn’t a trucking company’s fault the main demographic for trucking is white men. I’d much rather see minorities get into trucking than join the Army for crap pay (which is usually the case)
My orientation was in Salt Lake. I live in Phoenix. Rented me a car to drive to Salt Lake. Infinity q4 or something... it was great! Paid 1 night at a hotel en route.
I did think of going back to Crete when I moved to Salt Lake but ended up deciding against it. My initial plan was get back to an OTR truck and live in it to save money for a while but I knew I’d hate it 🤣. I need an apartment. Too old to live in a truck

But here we go being a minority that's black but just so happens to be American too but I get a label of a minority & have to go through companies to find diversity with a company with more carriers on my job history report been looked at as a job Hopper which I'm just trying to work and make a living but wasn't making enough but we as blacks have to put up with a company on our work history report for years to be reconsidered on better pay opportunities some where else? Crazy
Dude, I’m white and I have gotten some of the most garbage equipment imaginable and been treated like garbage at some companies. Don’t bring that racial BS here. I’ve had to jump ship from a company a couple times for being lied to about money as well. Race has nothing to do with it. Trucking is just full of too many companies that treat everyone like crap unless you stick it out there 10 years, and I ain’t dealing with BS for that long.
If someone asked me who i drive for, i would say Shaffer. But, the grey area between working for crete/shaffer becomes dimmer. There seems an obvious divide. I called for an efs for a washout. Waited 10 minutes, then connected with an administrative agent. After a few questions about my washout check he said, ..."you're on the shaffer side? Weird that they'd connect you to me." Put on hold for another 10+ minutes to get a washout. Ended up ok. Just weird
