Hi Nate, I find hoof trimming fascinating and follow 3 other trimmers. IMO, you have the most precise knife skills. You are patient and don't swipe at the claw as other trimmers do. You're a joy to watch.
Thank you. I appreciate that!!
He doesn't rub open wounds super hard with a dirty paper towel either he uses a clean gauze pad and is always gentle
Yea, I always think the same thing! I see other trimmers' cows bleed a lot.
Let me guess - the hoof gp, tec TV, and the Midwestern hoof trimmer (it's something like that, I know it's the Midwest something or other), but yeah, Nate here definitely seems the best of the bunch, I guess that is to say if I was a cow and had any choice in the matter I would choose to go to Nate the Hoof Guy 👍
Hoof trimming is becoming my favorite bedtime story.
Anyone else catch Nate saying “All better!” before he lets her out of the chute?
The syrupy sweetness of him saying that is even making my bitter coffee taste better this morning.
The two cows in the background around 6:00 🤣
Betsy: you see that?!
Elsie: she said her foot was hurting
Betsy: oh... that looks bad
Elsie: yeah, but Nate is good. He fixed up Maeve real good last fall
Betsy: yeesh... but still!
Elsie: yeah
Betsy: yeah
Brilliantly said and clever.
I want this to be a recurring bit on the channel someone just needs to animate a mouth on them
😆😆😆
Nate not only cares about the cows, he cares about his followers.. Answers questions, explains things so theyre easily understood, apologizes about sound/video quality, tries to describe the smell of things, and shows us the farm dogs when possible... Nate, youre the man
The poor cow. Thank goodness for you.
I always feel like I just got done watching a master class video after viewing your videos Nate. True Master of your craft sir.
Other trimmers use a dirty rag, Nate uses chlorhexidine and clean gauze. Thanks for fixing her up Nate, clearly much more comfortable!
He treated her hoof so well that by the end I nearly forgot how serious a lesion it was. Updates please!
Your knife work is extraordinary! You are gentle and aggressive at the same time. You’re are the best of all the others out there.🥰
He isn't aggressive he's just confident. I appreciate that he keeps everything extra clean and the girls happy as he can
Saw a different hoof trimmer on RUclips who just hacked away at the hoof, and that was the thing that took the longest in the videos. It's more exciting to see something big lopped off with one cut instead of shavings.
I love him way more than other youtubers that specialize on hooves because he actually shows the problem and explains it while others make a full music montage before actually showing something
Hoof trimming been around a long time, however, it's ironic how just in the last few years because of technology a lot of us have learned about it. I learn something from each trimmer I watch. Good luck to all of them.
The title of this video: "Whatever Can Go Wrong, Will Go Wrong." Patience, perseverance and keen knife skills save the day!
🐄Happy cow thanks you❣
At least the sound hung in there while those other things went south and good thing you have a great sense of humour too. Thanks Nate
You can tell its much better by the way she walks on it after the first few steps. Great job.
Send me a sack of those toenail trimmings Nate. My puppy dogs are drooling sitting here watching your vid. lol
I always thought you took the preliminary knife swipes because the knife blade is cheaper than the carbides on the grinder if you hit a hidden rock...
My son and I love to watch your videos on his bedtime routine. Thank you to take care of those lovely cows. My son wants to tell you to continue to be funny 😊🐮🐄💚
My favorite part is usually the saw. I like to see the shaping of the claw and disappearance of the insignificant dark spots. You are a fantastic teacher. I am a retired nurse and have watched you so much, I believe I can identify problems.😊
Nice job Nate! I like when you narrate the videos! Thanks 👍
Claw: crumbles under grinder and oozes
Nate: Again, I’m looking for words to describe this to all you smell fans out there…
Beautiful work. She was much happier. Your super awesome ❤
The surgeon 👨⚕️ enters the room!!! 🐄 always great work Nate...
Good work there Nate. Sorry about all the mishaps
Watching your videos are so addicting 🌸
Great video, A huge difference made to the cows comfort. Also intrigued by the blue roan cow in the background unusual colouring for a holstein
Nate, you’re the best hoof trimmer on RUclips: ACCURATE + CONTROLLED‼️ can you please figure out a way to set your camera CLOSER to the hooves so we can see the same detail that you see as you’re up close & personal? Thank you🙏🏻
👍. Thank you!!
You really help these little cows feel better.
I really enjoy how you point out little educational facts because a video before you talked about how the light coloration of the corium is a signature trait of dermatitis. I enjoy learning.
As a registered nurse I love providing wound care. You're my crack.
I love watching these videos keep on making the girls healthy!
Great work Nate.
...good find, nice job, stay safe...
I'm glad you moved the camera down after the power issue, I couldn't see anything with the distance between the camera and the hoof.
There’s no good place to rig a camera for back feet so it’s a bit further away.
Beautiful trim!! Awesome analysis as always :)
Oh sweet girl. She has got to feel so much better than before! Great job! 😎🤩🤓🐄👍
Great awesome video Nate , great work
Great vid Nate.
You are so clever & I like your work ethic! 😊 Central Victoria Australia 🇦🇺
I don’t know how you do it. Big messy hoof and you point out a speck “yep, problem is here”. 😁
Nate the great. Another lovely video. Thanks.
Lol great job! Over come the challenges. Power, moving and what ever else you have thrown your way.
Looking forward to the update on this rare repair. Thank you sir.☺
Gr8 video Nate 👍🐄
I totally love the knife work. It's the best!!!
LOVE hearing you talk to these sweet babies. ❤️ I wonder if the sound of your voice, deep as it is, would be soothing or reassuring to them in some way. I'd imagine it's in their vocal range and would have something of a positive affect on them.
The other cows see her come out of the chute
"Medial hoof? Bummer Bonnie."
Great vid Nate! Keep them coming
Thanks for the video Nate! I appreciate what I learn from you sir! God bless your business! ✝️
That is a beautiful black cow! I've never seen a Holstein cow with so little white on her.
It's very satisfying watching you do knife work, I love those big chunks!
😆is it Murphys' law?? if it CAN go wrong, it WILL go wrong? lol
poor guy lol i was almost expecting the cow to bust loose from the crutch (?? i think thats what that machine is called that u put the cows in to restrain em rite??)
u handled all the mishaps like a pro tho😉👊
she'll be healed up in no time? 😁 nice work Nate!!
Crush if you’re from the UK, chute if you’re from the states.
Nice work 👍
I love the knife work! 🥰
Like this video folks, Nate needs a new gopro!
Seriously I let all the adds play. Nate is one of like three RUclipsrs I do that for lol
Another great video, young man! I have 1 major complaint!!!! You need to post each and every day! LOL
If only the days were a few hours longer. 👍
Waow waow i like this vdeo 👍👍👍👍
I am from indonesia 🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩
Bet she appreciares how gently you work, nate!
Great job! Much happier girl💕
Anyone else get that same relaxed vibe? Nate is the Bob Ross of Hoof trimming. Knowledgeable, soothing voice, but does he have the hair?
Nope
Poor cow! She’s even bleeding. At least she seems to few better after you finished helping her.
It’s just fascinating to watch and listen to you, I am constantly 😮
You can see her gait smooth out as she adapts to the block. I hope there is a follow up, thanks for the video
This was a good one !!! Yay 😁
Yes, I was paying attention to you Nate. I always pay attention. You are so explanatory with great detail and information. But my point of comment begins at 5:50 into the video. I was watching the curious, concerned gossipers in the background. It was quite funny! The 2 curious gals were worried about their friend! They were probably wondering what you were doing to her. Speculating back 'n forth, running possibilities by each other. As well as debating as to who was going to walk over to check up on the friend. You even see what seems to be the one comforting the other's concerns. Then, finally, what seems to be the more outgoing braver one takes the first steps to walk over to her friend who is within this big contraption to check up on her. AS you film the gal with the ulcer walking out of the shoot, it also seems like the braver gal with concerns was at the end of the crush waiting for her wanting to hear aaalll about it! I just thought the little scenario that played out was cute.
Very cool video, thanx for all the explain
Appreciate the explanations.
What an amazing video
I suppose it would be detrimental to the cow to have a cover for the hoof for cleanliness. Golfing cleats for gripping those slippery cow patties littering the pasture. I imagine farmers covering 2 and 3 hundred cattle feet would be a little much right?😉 This is from a true ignorant of cattle raising but who still enjoys how you work your craft Nate. Great job as usual.
There are boots for cows with foot problems but they usually trap moisture and prevent the foot from breathing.
@@NatetheHoofGuy I thought as much. Thanks for replying. 🙂
She's a good cow 😊
Greetings from Danmark 🇩🇰
That was a good one Nate!!
Nice job.
Random thought... I really hope he makes amazing money doing this. This is a million dollar skill! Like who in the world knows someone that can diagnose on sight and treat such complex farm animal problems. To me, this is amazing Lol!
Hei Nate how often do you have to sharpen that tool?? It works really well.
I like the audio of the tools n background more authentic
Nice work!
That poor girl! I hope she's all healed up!
The cows must feel so good when this guy is done and their foot feels better.
Could this be the star or lead to a toe necrosis? Or am I way way out in left field?? Something about the location made me think this looked like the necrosis. I enjoy your videos Mate. Hope this wasn't an example of a stupid question!!!😂😂
Stay safe!!!
^start not star 😂
Nate NOT Mate!!!! Dang autocorrect!!!!😡
No stupid questions. Not likely necrosis. Necrosis typically starts in the very tip of the toe.
Buongiorno
Quando verrà in Italia 🇮🇹 per fare qualche lezione di podologia? 10+
good job man
nate !!! are you psychic !!! ??? greetings from florida !!! :D
Ha. No I’ve just seen enough feet to predict what will happen.
Kinda wondered if you talk to your patients when you are done. First time i have seen you do it.
I appreciate that you are all about the work. No diversions to the family or long scenic rides to horrible music. Thank you for just explaining while you help the animals.
How fast are some people lol thought I was going to be number one to like
How do you charge for your work? By cow, by hour or by the type of procedures? (or other?)
On a per cow basis with added charges for blocks and wraps. Trimming is $14/cow. Wraps are additional $5 and blocks are an additional $20.
@@NatetheHoofGuy Thank you for replying! I was very curious about that! You're awesome, BTW!
Never change!
That legion looks fairly fresh judging by the number of strokes
I s there a risk of transferring bacteria from one cow to another if the knives are not enclaved and sterilized? Thanks as always for the great posts
Beautiful video 🇵🇰🇵🇰🇵🇰👍👍👍
Best Wishes From Pakistan
Hi Nate, So, when trimming the tow back to a normal length is appears as though you are trimming into, &, or across the white line on the very tip of the hoof. I’m my head I start thinking of separation and weakening outer support. Would you be able to elaborate when you have a moment.
The reason it appears that way is because I leave additional sole thickness. If I were to take that sole down further my cuts would be outside the whiteline. If I were actually cutting past the whiteline then I would draw blood as inside the whiteline is the corium. You’re not really compromising support by trimming the toe (unless you remove more than necessary) because the weight is transferred inside the foot via the laminae and distributed throughout the dorsal wall. Here’s a video I did regarding toe length that may explain a bit more. ruclips.net/video/ZpAAK0PvIF4/видео.html
Great video.
That hoof material was like rubber. It appeared she was naturally shedding that hoof, your trimming has moved that along to speed up the healing. Is that correct?
In a way, yes.
Woah. That hoof just crumbled under the grinder
Oh my.goodness!
What type of stones, tools and or apparatuses do you use to keep your knives Sharp?
I’ve got a rubber wheel on a bench grinder.
Nate, just wondering how u charge for more damaged hooves that need blocking and extra treatment and how much it’s if a cow only needs a routine trim?
👍
Hi Nate have you ever had a cow with problems on both sides of the huff how would you treat it??
That Was deep.
