We often picnic on Mt. Pollux after the regular first Sunday singing when the weather's good. Amherst Chinese supplied the chopsticks. Cameos by Luka, Anja and Buford Klownski. Shot by Sheldron.
This is one of the real oldtime treasures on youtube... I come back to listen to this video again and again since it was posted...
I love your fiddle playing in this song. My wonderful great-grandpa passed away when I was in the 6th grade. I am now close to 60 and still remember his playing. This sounds so much like his style that I can listen and listen to it. He never had the fiddle sticks, though I think my great uncle played the spoons sometimes on the porch. Thank you so very much for this. It brings back such loving memories. He was my favorite relative and he left me his fiddle.
.....cool / wow....☺👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🎻🎻🎻🎻🎻🎻
Whenever my Grama used to drop something, she would say....Ah fiddlesticks! This puts new meaning to those words. hahahaaaa! Excellent performance...Thank you both.
One of the best and most traditional fiddlers I've heard.
That is genuine old time entertainment....takes you back to a sound that we have lost...love it!
Great that you played the Hammon's version rather than the festival version one mostly hears!
Always heard the expression oh fiddle sticks , but never knew what they were. Thank's for that!
I can listen to this over and over again. I love it!
Lonesome John! Great performance fellas.
I particularly liked the very end. ;)
I used to really like it when you played this tune with the sticks on the fiddle. Thanks for putting it on video. It's been a long time since I heard it.
Tim's shirt sleeve gradually makes its way up his arm throughout the duration of the song.
The more I hear the more upset I am ... who knew such incredible talent existed just a ways down the road... very glad to know it now... great collaboration...!
It's like a dulcimer violin fueson:)
even better during baseball season
you know a bit of Serbian that's so cool! Love your music! Serbian fan!
I have never seen anything like that in my life! I need to try that :D
Sounds fantastic
The only other performance like this in the tube is one of the Balfa brothers playing in the 70s.
Love it.
That is freakin' sweet.
Awesome talent and that end of the video was priceless.
Great!!!!
wow! what a tune! Thank you so much!
You’re welcome! Feels like ancient history now
@@TimEriksenMusicVideo Well u know good tunes are timeless. We've watched several of ur videos. U have a lot of amazing tunes! We've learned a lot from watching them...we're big fans! Hope one day we'll get to see u perform live...
Sounds great, and it's one of my favorite tunes.
Very nice stuff. My workshop here in Vienna is called "Fiddlesticks". Of course, "fiddlesticks" originally meant "violin bows".
Awesome!!
Very cool. I love all the 2 note intervals you get with the bow. Reminds me of the fiddle playing I've heard in the Ozarks here in MO.
Such tasty sounds..
Love your music
This just makes me smile :)
Nice!
Incredible! Good stuff!
I love it!
I never heard another version but from Dwight Diller who always says to check out Edn's playing...
it kinda sounds like a dulcimer and fiddle...awesome
TheMrBlackCrow you mean a hammer dulcimer?
Love!
this really does prove there is nothing that can be done to make the violin sound good
😂banjo player?
my dad 11 ye ago
That's is cool
Great ending haha
They’re all grown up now, apparently no worse for the wear
@batfancy why did your son downvote your video??? its catchy as hell
where could i download this song?
I love this music.
That stuff with the chopsticks is super! What a great sound it makes--it really sounds like two instruments instead of one...guess it is two instruments, really.
Does the tune have a name or were you improvising?
It's standard for me (ca. gdgd) but that's because I haven't tried the other one yet (eadg? or whatever...)
Very cool, wonder if he ever got rapped on the knuckles?
@sbd650 Ej, Hvala! Have you heard Ljubomir Zivkov at Stari Kolibu? (I enjoyed your tamburica videos).
Two men, one fiddle? That's so cool.
I haven't seen anyone hold a violin/fiddle like that until today. Saw a couple of other fiddlers play like this. Could someone tell me what is the benefit of playing this way, or why they play this way? Is it easier to shred in this position? I'm really curious.
Julianna Pence i was about to say that he plays like that just for the fiddlestick's guy, but then i realised he always play like that so maybe is the fact that he feels more comfortable playing like that and he got used
Julianna Pence Spence Galloway, a Missouri fiddler, holds the fiddle that way. I've seen a few others as well, not sure how that method came about.
A lot of old time fiddlers held the fiddle this way because it was easier to sing while playing and not having a fiddle under your chin.
+Julianna Pence It also gets the fiddle farther away from your ear. The fiddle can be VERY LOUD right up next to your face, and this takes some of the edge off.
A lot of fiddle players play in this position which is possible because for fiddle music you often play exclusively in first position, which allows you to support the violin with your hand. For classical violin playing, you're shifting and using the whole fingerboard, up higher than just the hand position he's using here, and you can't use your hand to support the violin because you have to be able to move it quickly.
Wholly Cow!!
Thoroughly! Ha ha
Is this standard tuning??
1:56 Don't make eye contact, don't make eye contact, just act natural...
I thought those children were lifting that man for a second!
well, now you know where we're at. See you at a singing or something...
@Amarksyhk That's my son! He's fine by the way...
CAW CAW CAW CAW.
:-)
It sounds like GDGD to me.
(oh, duh: tune is "Sandy Boys"...sorry about that..)
1 poor bastard doesn't like this! lol point and laugh at him
Beating those sticks on the fiddle is awful. Not as bad as playing spoons but close.
Wow dope stuff, I could do better tho 🤷♂️
