As people think of moving to the country they often wonder how they can make a living. We have looked at 15 options in the past. But here are 14 more options that might help you make an income in the country. Do you have any other suggestions.?
Back in the day (1950's) Dad delivered a car from East coast to West coast.
I had a house cleaning business for 5 years. 8-10 houses/week.
Do not work by the hour! Work by the job. Also bring your own vacuum and rags. Some people have lousy vacuums. Get a canister type. Easier to do stairs and use attachments.
Also, from the start, be clear that you don’t do dishes or organize. They save dishes for days for you to do. 😉
mobile welding - breeding plants for genetics - long term woodland crops like ginseng - mushrooms
This.
& ethically morally better than breeding cats/dogs.
If you are near a road out in the sticks carry around a big battery to recharge EVs.
Not being a negative nelly here, but I can tell you that RV delivery is somewhat slow right now, mostly due to the shaky economy. People are worried about the economy and aren't spending so much on RVs anymore, not to mention disposable income is going the way of the dinosaurs. There's still work in that field, but it has definitely slowed down quite a bit
Okiii… thanks for the list.
All except for the breeding one…
might be a old way of thinking to consider breeding dogs for money. Younger generations largely reject that idea because of the number of dogs in shelters. Cats too.
I wouldn’t recommend breeding cats or dogs as a money making job…
And reputable breeders with good reputations are really the only ones making good honest money. Part of being a reputable breeder is being willing to take back the dog/cat they sold that someone can no longer take care of. And very few breeders actually do that and fail to fulfill their responsibilities as a responsible reputable breeder.
I don’t know how people can breed dogs/cats and then not care what happens to them after. It’s disturbing any human is capable of heart numbing selfishness.
Cats/dogs should *not* be bred as money making commodities. That’s just ethically wrong.
Last thing the world needs is more puppy mills.
I agree, so many dogs are being tossed out😓
Agree....sooo many stray Great Pyrenees in our rural community that nobody ever claims....expensive dogs....
Agreed
Comment of having internet in the country ... many people I know who live deep in the mountainous country of northeast Washington have StarLink and use it to great success for internet service. This satellite service is a bit pricey, but not much more than what other companies that are not as reliable. I had someone try to push me to get StarLink, but I get a hot spot from the library, and it works reasonably well on my mountain for internet service, and the price is free. I have the inconvenience of returning it every four weeks and sometimes waiting a few days to get another one. Those days, if I'm working on something, I just go to the library and do my work there.
Very innovative ...wonderful ideas actually God bless you guys!
TREE FELLING / TRIMMING/ FIREWOOD CUTTING: If you are a quick learner and reasonably fit you can start small with just a decent chainsaw and slowly learn & take on bigger trees and jobs
RV space rental. My friends have 2 renter's who parked thier RV's in a pre-made hookup parking space
I work from home in the software development field and Sartlink has provided plenty of bandwidth for me to do my job.
Good to know, thanks for sharing. Do you mind if I ask how much it costs and how much you get from it?
@@HealthAndHomestead You have to buy the equipment up front then it is $110 per month. I get on average 40Mbps down and 5Mbps up. No other service offered in my area gets anywhere close to those numbers.
StarLink also offers an option for people who need traveling internet for a bit more money. People who have that can go anywhere in the world and have great internet service. Of course, all the equipment needs to be hauled from location to location.
We use star link on ships up here in Canada and we just got notice is jumping from $188cdn to $329
Some good ideas from a brainstorming perspective. Be careful to check local regulations, permits, and requirements. Licenses, insurance, permits, and equipment can kill profits. Also don’t forget that self-employment increases your taxes. Remote work options are best for any office worker looking to leave city life.
I know several steel detailers that work from home. It’s a good niche to get into but if you are going to work from home you first need experience. The pay can be very good. You need a good internet connection, phone, software, good computer, and an ability to print drawings or a place to pay to have them printed.
Good points.
Steel Detailer ???? What is that ?
@@CatDaddySteve It's a person who gets drawings from engineers and architects and makes drawings for welders so they can fabricate the steel for commercial buildings.
FYI, delivering motor homes will require the driver to have a CDL. Any truck used for hauling campers that is greater than a 350 (i.e., a Ford 450) will also require a CDL which comes with its own long list of requirements.
A truck driver is another great option for those who want it. I think if your gross weight is under 26,000 you don’t need a CDL but I could be wrong. There are regulations that need to be looked into for many things and more research is needed. Obviously each one of the suggestions needs more than a minute and a half worth of investigation. But for those who are interested they can do more research. All the best.
For #12, make sure you know the cottage laws in your state if you don’t have access to a commercial kitchen.
We just bought a puppy for 1957 USD so yes they are quite expensive these days, the first dog we bought 12 years ago cost 685 USD
I will make some videos on our little fluffball later... great video Chad, thanks!
why would you pay that much. Are there no animal shelters where you live? Please don't be those people that crop and dock their dogs 'for the look'.
Horrible
Buying dogs 🙄☹️
Hi Chad do you know of an SOP quote that says we should not have animals living in our home as it is unhealthy.
No I do not. But I do have a video about m.ruclips.net/video/NuI9I0oM4jQ/видео.html&pp=ygUYaGVhbHRoIGFuZCBob21lc3RlYWQgY2F0
Learn to weld, fix, machining, black smithing...etc.
Gone are the good ol’ days you could just grow five to ten pounds of herb per year and be set up for a simple country life. 🙁
Custom sawmill
That is a great option.
@@HealthAndHomestead I am starting one as we speak in the country in Missouri where there’s a lot of timber and lots of other sawmills that do production milling…so not much competition. Close to Ava
@@mustbsavdbyjesus Nice. I hope it goes well. We looked for land several years ago outside of Ava.
@@HealthAndHomestead thank you!
Coding... 🤣.... Yep.
And sell tshirts & stuff on your youtube channel? People are pretty dumb sometimes and buy stupid stuff right? Why not profit from it?
Or maybe you could make youtube videos?
Do not breed dogs! Thats a terrible idea. Theres too many dogs being put down every year. If you want a dog, adopt from a shelter. Do not contribute to the problem, be part of the solution. Adopt a doggy family member for life.
It looks like someone makes their income in the country from PETA. :)
Same with children. Adopt your children there are so many children to be adopted, don’t contribute to the problem
@@BreDawg714 I don't see why not.
Agreed! Breeding should have never been included in a list of country “jobs”.
I’m honestly surprised anyone these days with genuine awareness of the world would ever think that’s a good suggestion to just willynilly put out there to a public and essentially random audience of people.
@@BreDawg714 also ya. Why not?
There’s a lot of benefits to adopting rather than making your own. Especially for women. We wouldn’t have to destroy our body through a pregnancy to have a kid.
By adopting we save our own body from physical trauma and an orphan gets adopted into a family.
Win/win all the way around on that.
So basically hire some hack who is trying to make a quick Buck, this is a horrible video dude I have been personally ripped off by these types of people, hire someone reputable!!!! Don't hire some hack, it could scam so They can see what you have And come Back later and Rob you
It is always wise to do some due diligence before hiring someone. The internet is a great way to check reviews of people. But, granted, those can sometimes be forged also. Even some delivery drivers for major corporations are thieves. Nothing is completely safe. All the best.
Yes, you are correct, I should have done More research .
How is puppy farming a good way to make money? It’s pathetic
This guys not very educated
