Are you a student aged 16-22 with a passion for history? Best Defense Foundation is excited to announce the return of our NEXT GEN program for the second year in a row!
Watch the video above for instructions on how to enter to join 60 WWII veterans on this year’s Battlefield Return to Normandy, commemorating the 80th anniversary of D-Day!
🗓️ Travel Dates: June 1-12, 2024
No cost to enter and participate if selected!
📅 Submission Deadline: April 1, 2024
✅ Must have a valid passport through December 2024
🗣️ Fluent in clear, conversational English.
Submissions will be chosen by a panel of BDF staff and representatives from our sponsors Delta, Michelin and Boeing.

I had the honor to be there during the 70th anniversary with friends from the Czech Republic. We met in Prague, drove through Germany into France, went north at Paris and had arrived in Normandy. We had camped near Omaha Beach.
On June 6, 2014, I awoke to the sound of a church bell ringing in the distance. I was wondering "Who is ringing that church bell??" The bell was getting louder and louder. All of a sudden, more church bells were ringing. I had looked at my watch and it was 6:45 am. All of a sudden, I shot up in my cot and had realized the bells had signified 70 years to the minute the D-Day had begun. That night, the people had firework displays on the beaches of Omaha, Juno, Sword, Gold and Utah.
