Two legends! They had a very volatile marriage. Tammy lived in my hometown next to my Aunt. Her real name is Wynetta Byrd. She got her start on The Country Boy Eddie Show. It came on around 5 a.m. The show was about 3 hours long. We know George had struggles. Tammy did too. You cannot deny their talent. Their is a live version of GOLDEN RING they did after their divorce. Wonderful reaction guys! Most movies are slanted in Tammys favor

Actually Virginia Wynette Pugh, @ birth. She lived close to where my Mother lived too in Alabama (TW lived in Red bay, my Mother in Florence), and yes got her start on CBE. She had a tough life like my mother/family and like most folks did in the Alabama country which is the reason my Mom moved out and went up north at the age of 16, there was just no getting ahead if you were poor and a woman at that time in the rural south. Many years later my Mom came back and is now buried close to the same area that brought her so many tough memories

My mother was a dental hygienist. My father deserted us when I was 6 weeks old. I think those days were hard for many. She must have used Wynetta Byrd on the CBE show. I was a small child but I knew she could sing.

@@dsusan17 as was I, but my mom loved Tammy and played her records all the time along with other female country legends, I think she could always relate to them since she too was young and divorced just trying to make ends meet as a waitress and usually came up short, but at age 45 my mom got her GED and at 50 became an RN, she didn't get to do the job long due to being crippled w CMT like Alan Jackson has, but she always had that degree and I never saw such pride in a human being, her degree meant more to me than mine did because I knew how hard it was for her.

George Jones was a country legend singer songwriter from the 50's-80's. He struggled with alcoholism & drugs during his life. He was married at one time to fellow country music singer Tammy Wynette & they had some great duets together. He had so many hits such as "White Lightnin'", "She Thinks I Still Care", "We Must Have Been Out Of Our Minds", "Love Bug", "Things Have Gone to Pieces", "The Race Is On", "My Favorite Lies", "I'll Share My World With You", "Take Me", "A Good Year For The Roses," "If My Heart Had Windows" & many others.

That series don't look great. Looks overly dramatized, and the singing isn't good and overly autotuned.
And I saw that they're portraying an alleged story about how George angrily threw a chair out the window after listening to her husband talking down to her, and took Tammy. Which allegedly occurred one night when George was invited to Tammy and her previous husband's house for dinner..
I saw the daughter of Tammy's previous husband saying that story wasn't true, that Tammy just left without that alleged dispute occurring. And she was angry and tired of seeing her dad falsely get dragged through the mud over that story.. Yet she's going to have to see her dad be portrayed that way yet again, in this overdramatic Hollywood-ized HBO series.
I would bet money that they were inspired to make the series after Mike Judge did an animated episode on them on his HBO show called "Tales from the Tour Bus," which also included the story I mentioned earlier. That's how I came across Tammy's ex husband's daughter refuting that story ever happened.

I just watched the series finally. Very sad, lots of drugs and alcohol involved, along with plenty of money to buy it, and that leads to tragedy. Tragedy, but lots of meaningful beautiful music coming from it, she even stated something about that in the series. I think the series was produced or something by their daughter. Glad you enjoyed this song. My mom used to play this stuff when I was growing up and it grew on me.

That HBO series they're doing on Tammy and George looks pretty dramatized and Hollywood. I don't feel great about the way it looks.
But I do recognize some of the stories. Mike Judge (creator of King of the Hill) had an animated show called "Tales from the Tour Bus" where he animated stories told about artists. They did an episode on George and Tammy that I highly recommend.
Though, some of the stories should be taken with a grain of salt. I noticed one story that was slightly inaccurate about George getting tied to a tree by Waylon Jennings. Waylon did tie him up, but not to a tree..
There's also a story about Tammy's previous husband that is depicted in that show, and the new HBO show that's coming, in which George Jones goes to Tammy and her husband's house to have dinner, and after her husband allegedly talks down to her, George gets angry and throws a chair out the window and takes Tammy with him... I saw the daughter of Tammy's previous husband commenting about that and saying that that story was a lie, and that she was angry that people have been dragging her dad's name through the mud. She said that dispute didn't happen, and that Tammy just left.

Cue up the podcast Cocaine and Rhinestones, season 2 is a full arc thst mmm at revolves around the life and time of George and Tammy. It’s THE most accurate work on their lives ever done and it’s not even close.
