She had a very tumultuous life...married 5 times so she could definitely relate to the lyrics of this song. The song was not written by her, but another song by her I think you'd like is Till I Can Make It on My Own and the song she did with KLF called Justified and Ancient.

D-I-V-O-R-C-E was written by Bobby Braddock and Curly Putman in the late 60's and recorded in 1968 by Tammy Wynette. They also wrote "He stopped loving her today" sung by George Jones, who Tammy had been married to.

Tammy Wynette really started finding herself her voice in the 80s she always maintained the heartbreak songs her life was as such it's really sad her music mirrored her music after she married George Jones it was bad but then she was happy again but found again only heartache but she was an amazingly strong woman and never realized it songs like Sally trash and another chance and your good girls gonna go bad showed how strong she was others saw it she just never saw it in herself.......I can relate.......I love her......the man from bowling green and I'm not your has been I just never was and bedtime story were other amazing songs not to mention I don't wanna play house and yes she at least co write almost all her songs

Tammy had so many utterly heart breaking songs. But there's one that goes the other way. "All Through Throwing Good Love After Bad." It's from her album "Higher Ground," that has several of my favorite Tammy Wynette songs. "Tempted, Talking to Myself Again, A Slow Burning Fire, Til I Can Make It On My Own and There's no Heart So Strong." Pure Tammy Wynette.

Everything Tammy did was good. She did have a lot of sadness in her life, but she also had a lot of serious health problems. Her doctors actually gave her injectable pain killers to use at home at her own discretion. She used those to her own detriment. I read she was always pretty doped up during her performances. You're hearing a combination of pain, both emotional and physical, as well as strong ass pain killers in her voice. RIP Tammy.

That's the great thing about country songs, the good ones can make you feel something, people can relate to them, and back in the 70's female singers in country were singing songs about parts of life that weren't talked about. You should also give a listen to Loretta Lynn's "The Pill".

A funny story I have about Tammy Wynette, a guy I used to work with told me a story about his buddy who loved Tammy Wynette went to the state fair to see her perform, however she made a stipulation that there should be no cameras present, well that wasn’t going to stop him from getting a picture so when she began to perform he rushed to the stage and got a picture, he thought he lucked out and so he went and tried to get a second however a State Trooper stepped in front of him said “Miss Wynette has asked no one to take any pictures, we let you get one go back to your seat” then the trooper head butted him with the brim of his “Smokey bear” hat cutting the bridge of buddy’s nose. He left with a little additional gift from the West Virginia State Police 😂

Tammy told a funny story about her ex George Jones and his drinking (he was an alcoholic and that was one of the main causes of their problems). She said that she didn't want George to go drinking one day so she hid the keys to all of the vehicles they owned so he couldn't leave the house. She had gone out to do something and when she got back home, she and her mother couldn't find George anywhere. It turned out that George had driven their riding lawn mower miles down the road to the nearest beer joint.....lol! I can't remember if the beer joint was 16 or 30 miles away.............but it was quite a distance to drive a lawn mower to. This is how bad an alcoholic George was. She told this story to a talk show host in either Australia or England, I can't remember that either.....but I thought it was crazy......but that is the kind of thing you deal with when your partner is an alcoholic!
