I applied for the 4 year programme but want successful unfortunately! It is incredibly competitive with only 40 places for thousands of applicants compared to 400 places on the undergrad program. My advice would be to apply to both

Hey! I think the majority of medical schools require science A-levels. My advice would be to have a look at going through the graduate entry route through possibly doing a Bioscience degree first :)
surtilan B You basically get a tutor or self teach yourself from home and then sit your Alevel exams at a school or college. You will be requied to pay the school for sitting the exams this cost varies from each school.
so I’m going into biomed in the uk and then hopefully graduate med because my school’s qualifications aren’t as strong as a levels; do you think this will put me at a disadvantage when applying for graduate med or do they only consider your degree?
Im doing a physiotherapy degree now, just finished a placement and found that medicine is so interesting to me. Im thinking of applying for medicine after my PT undergrad but i never studied chemistry before. Do you think it'll be hard for me to study the course without any chemistry as a foundation. Thanks for answering!!!!!!!!
i don't study any sciences at a level but i want to study medicine at uni. should i do a degree in bioscience with a foundation year and then apply for graduate medical school? idk if i have a chance
That sounds like the most logical route to me! Just to be sure, have a look at some university websites and see if you'll meet their academic requirements if you go down that route :)
How did/are you manage/managing to fund your post grad medicine. I’m trying to do the exact same thing as you and that is the thing I am most worried about. You’re story has really inspired me mate.
Can you pls make a video on revision. I’m doing my Alevels, Bio chem and maths. And I’m truly struggling to study. My dream is to study dentistry and I have to go through the postgraduate route because I flopped As maths 😭😭✨. Pls give your tips in revision and studying. Thank you
Hey Yasmin! Don't worry, I didn't do that great during my A-levels but I finally made it and you can too!! :) I'd be more than happy to make a video on that if you could give me a little time to make it? Do you mean a video on how I revise for my exams?
How do you fund your medical degree? I want to take this route but I'm not sure how I'd pay for the tuition since you don't get funding for a second degree.
I’m a medical science student and just completed my first year. I would like to apply for medicine post grad but I just am a bit confused so please correct me where I’m wrong. I assume that I’d sit my GAMSAT in my second year to apply for medicine to study the same year I finish my undergraduate. Or would it be that I take the GAMSAT for the let’s say September 22’ rather than 21’ entry
I'm going through the postgraduate route but looking at the decisions so far I doubt I will get in this application cycle. Got a very average 650 in my UKCAT so I am guessing that is why.
Hey! Stay motivated! I remember last year I got 3 rejections and by March I felt like I was going to definitely be rejected by my final option. Out of the blue after I had given up all hope I was invited to interview by King's and it all changed. I also didn't get the best UKCAT score, I averaged about 645 so it may be something else in your application that you can improve on. If you want to discuss ways of possibly improving your application, we cant do that :)
Kenji Tomita Definitely! I’m still waiting to hear from Newcastle, but if all else fails I’ll apply again. I’m considering doing a masters in the mean time. Boost my credentials. Although your UKCAT was a little low you had a 1st and your A levels are solid. Sadly I don’t have that so I really have to be the cream of the crop with my UKCAT next time
Hi, this was really helpful. I want to apply to the same university as you in the future but they ask something about acorn which I don’t know anything about so could you please tell me what acorn means? And btw I moved to England in year 7 when I was 12 so would that be fine to do the 6 year course? Thanks 😊
Is the fees for a uk graduate for medicine normal or like that of England. I'm currently studying optometry, then planing on going to medicine. Any advice would be helpful.
Hi, I have applied to UCL, Bristol, Imperial College London and St. Andrews but will not be able pay as an International.Student. So at Westminister University, I have applied for a full scholarship. If I graduate from Westminister, would it lower my chances of getting into grad medicine for UCL or Cambridge? (provided i do BSC honors)With the time in London, I'll try and make savings for.grad school. (I am applying for.Biological Sciences in all these Uni's). Also is biomedicine, biochemistry or Biology best as undergarduate major? In my spare time, I will also join programs to strengthen my Personal Statement.
Hey Kenji, you probably get these questions a lot, and it’s probably really annoying, but I just got my GCSE results and I really want to study medicine just like my older sister, so I was wondering if my GCSE's are good enough to apply for medicine straight up or should I do a neuroscience degree then apply for graduate entry level medicine after 3 years. I got 1 A* and A (8/7) in combined science and 5 A’s in my other subjects, except in computer science I got a C, English I got a B and Spanish a C, I also did further maths as an extra GCSE, which I got a C in. I know I need to do a good amount of work experience and get high A-level grades as well as BMAT and UKCAT scores, but would my current GCSE grades be a good starting point, If I’m going to be applying to a university such as KCL straight after A-levels, or would doing a medical-related degree first (like you did) be a better choice?
hey, just saw your video... this is amazing congrats. Just anted to ask what if I apply for the undergraduate degree and i have a first from biomedicine however I have a B in english language but a C in math do I have a chance ?
Congrats! Just wanted to know if your high school transcript effects your postgraduate med school application? Or even if you apply to kings/ QMUL undergrad medicine, would they look at your highschool transcript as well as your university one? Thanks!!!!
Hey Grace! So the higher the qualification you have, the less they look at the lower ones. The universities aren't very specific with their high school grade requirements, but as a graduate they won't put too much stress on those grades, although they will look at your application as a whole. So if for example you got a 2:1 or a first at uni, they are very unlikely to consider your high school grades. On the other hand, if you didn't do as well at uni they might look at your high school grades. Having said that, when you apply for medical school you will have to submit all of your grades, including the high school ones. Hope this helps!
Yes that really helped a lot!!! Thank you so much! I'm currently working on my application for postgrad medicine and wanted to ask if you can make a video on tips on the personal statement/ what the postgrad med application is like according to timeline/ Ucas etc? Thanks! :)
Hi I’m a first year biomed student and the whole covid situation really ruined my a level results. I saw on the KCL website they said they don’t take A levels into account do you think they really genuinely don’t or do you think despite what they say A levels do kind of have an impact when applying to KCL med bc I really hope to get in in the future. Thank youuu
Hello Kenji.. Sorry, I wanna ask something :).. I have seen your video and really inspiring to me for get my dream like be a doctor. But, I have graduated with bachelor of science in bioengineering (4 years approximately) and got upper second class honours. For these conditions, Can I apply for MBBS in Kings College London?.. Thank you :)
Yes they do look at all your GCSEs and AS results as part of your whole application :) I would recommend taking 4, although i'm not sure if it'll put you at a disadvantage or not if you didn't do so
Hi Kenji ! You say that u got into medical school ‘without the best grades’. What do u mean by it: do medical schools require the best grades or is it that ur grades r not the best?
hey bro. i didnt understand. did you apply for undergrad medicine at king's college during your second year of Biomed undergrad course? IF so, did you finish your biomed degree first before going to medicine? after finishing KCL course, you will have 2 degrees (biomed and MBBS)?
I’m going to go college after my gcses I really wanted to do alevels but that’s impossible because of my grades so can I still study medicine if I go college?
Some unis do and some unis don't. It depends on the uni but in most cases the more qualified you become the less they care about earlier qualifications like GCSEs
To be honest I'm not entirely sure! The best thing to do would be to check the specific entry requirements for a university, like King's for example, and see if that would work

surtilan B You basically get a tutor or self teach yourself from home and then sit your Alevel exams at a school or college.
Hi Kenji what sort of funding options did you look into? I’m assuming this is for tuition loan.
Hi! I made a full video on funding. Do give it a watch 😊
Not in my opinion! There is barely any chemistry in my medical school, we only had a couple of lectures involving that in first year. Go for it!!
i don't study any sciences at a level but i want to study medicine at uni. should i do a degree in bioscience with a foundation year and then apply for graduate medical school? idk if i have a chance
I made a full video on this! Have a look :) ruclips.net/video/PBgibWso60Y/видео.html
Ooo yes pls that would be really nice. Thank you in advance
How do you fund your medical degree? I want to take this route but I'm not sure how I'd pay for the tuition since you don't get funding for a second degree.
I have a full video on this, check it out!
You sit the entry exam in your final year, the year before you're meant to start med school :)
Sadly I don’t have that so I really have to be the cream of the crop with my UKCAT next time
Congrats ;)
Thank you!!! :P
Hi, this was really helpful. I want to apply to the same university as you in the future but they ask something about acorn which I don’t know anything about so could you please tell me what acorn means? And btw I moved to England in year 7 when I was 12 so would that be fine to do the 6 year course? Thanks 😊
Hi! I'm sorry I'm not sure what you mean by acorn
Is the fees for a uk graduate for medicine normal or like that of England. I'm currently studying optometry, then planing on going to medicine. Any advice would be helpful.
The fees are the same but the access to loans and funding is different!
Can a Student with a score of 75-85% in 10+2 level can appear for MBBS at kings College London? Is there an upper age limit ??

I don't think it'll lessen your chances at all! And they are all great undergraduate choices
Hey! In my opinion your GCSEs seem good enough, but I'd recommend checking with the university website requirements just to make sure :)
hey, just saw your video... this is amazing congrats.
Thanks! :)
You're welcome! I'm working on that video as we speak :P
Thank youuu
I would go with what they say on the website!
aye is biomedical engineering a pre requisite for graduate med schools too?
You can get into medicine with that degree!
Definitely! But do check with the university requirements just to be sure
Do Med Schools look at GCSE results as a whole? Also do you check your AS results and I only want to take 3 AS subjects should I take 4?
Yes they do look at all your GCSEs and AS results as part of your whole application :) I would recommend taking 4, although i'm not sure if it'll put you at a disadvantage or not if you didn't do so
Have you heard of people being accepted for an interview with a band 3 in SJT
I haven't heard, but I'm sure it happens!
Hi Kenji ! You say that u got into medical school ‘without the best grades’. What do u mean by it: do medical schools require the best grades or is it that ur grades r not the best?
Raindropmusic ! Medicine requires AAA at Alevels or for some like Cambridge and Oxford A*AA
Hey! I mean that my grades weren't the best
How long does it take do finish medicine in uni after biomedical science
4 years on the graduate course or 5 on the undergraduate course
hey bro. i didnt understand. did you apply for undergrad medicine at king's college during your second year of Biomed undergrad course? IF so, did you finish your biomed degree first before going to medicine? after finishing KCL course, you will have 2 degrees (biomed and MBBS)?
Yes I finished Biomed first and will have 2 degrees
@@DoctorKenji ok thanks, and did you apply for KCL in its undergrad course or as a grad course?
Did you still have to do the UCAT test?
If you apply to unis which use UCAT then yes, which is the majority
can i ask what your UCAT result was? i achieved a first class in biomedical science but i got 2530 Band 1 in my UCAT so im feeling a quite worried
645. I have a full video on my grades
So you do Undergraduate?
hello im so stressed, because i want to get into medicine but i dont think im gonna get good grades. can u help me out
im in y9 about to choose my gcses, what options do i need to pick in order to become a doctor/to go into medicine
Hey man. There's information about what GCSEs you need to choose on the university requirements pages. You can google it :D
Kenji Tomita thanks 🙏. Keep up the videos
I’m going to go college after my gcses
I really wanted to do alevels but that’s impossible because of my grades so can I still study medicine if I go college?
Hey! What will you be doing instead of a levels?
Kenji Tomita college because my grades are low
But which qualifications will it be in college?
how many more years after biomedical science degree?
4 years if you get onto the graduate program or 5 years on the undergrad program like me
Will the GCSEs still count when applying?
Does your a levels count for graduate medicine
Yes it does. I think you might benefit from FREE how to get into medical school class which you can check out here: skl.sh/2TwpH0N
@@DoctorKenji thank you because I'm doing btecs going into biomed then graduate entry medicine.
Do they care a lot about GCSEs when applying for post graduate med?
Some unis do and some unis don't. It depends on the uni but in most cases the more qualified you become the less they care about earlier qualifications like GCSEs
do you apply during second year of uni or third year of uni
Hey! You apply just at the start of your third year of uni
How did you fund the undergrad?
I took out a loan from Student Finance England :)

Thanks for subscribing! It's great to have a fellow African on RUclips! :D (I'm Kenyan). Just subbed to you too!
Thank you♥️
Can I do a nursing degree and apply to med school bc I’m currently doing nursing .
Most definitely! It's one of the best degrees that sets you up for medicine
Kenji Tomita what if I’ve done btech extended diplomain health and social care instead of a levels
To be honest I'm not entirely sure! The best thing to do would be to check the specific entry requirements for a university, like King's for example, and see if that would work
Kenji Tomita Thank you so much, they accept btech .
That's great! All the best!! :)
Hi, I’m 15 and going into year 11 in September, I’ve always dreamed of being a doctor, just wondering what A levels you’d advise taking
Hey Emily! I'd recommend taking maths, biology and chemistry. Most universities require these subjects and they'll best prepare you for medicine :)
Thankyou, that’s what I was thinking
You're welcome!!

I am Mahira Zabin. I just saw your video and absolutely loved it. I am currently in my Alevel and I am so confused about what to do to get into one of the best med schools. It'd be really helpful if I could talk to you about it. I also knocked you on Instagram, if possible, please connect! Thanking you in advance. Your guidance is extremely needed here!
