  • All-time Hollywood icons BETTE DAVIS and JIMMY STEWART united for the one and only time in what would be the last film before Miss Daviss debilitating stroke and quite possibly the last great film to star either of these two timelessly beloved and brilliantly talented actors. The story of a woman her parents decision to take their lives together, Right of Way was deemed too controversial for its intended network television broadcast and instead became a successful original HBO movie, earning Cable ACE Award nominations for both leads in the Best Actress and Best Actor categories.
Despite the age and wear of the source VHS, I hope that fans of the immortal Miss Davis will appreciate this last breath of cinematic greatness from an actor without equal. Broadcast exactly fifty years after her first starring Warner Bros. star vehicle, the less esteemed Ex-Lady, Right of Way was also a treat for fans of the equally immortal James Stewart , and their pairing is afforded a worthy film thanks to writer Richard Lees, director George Schaefer, and co-star Melinda Dillon.
In honor of Miss Daviss birthday, as well as a current legislative debate over death with dignity in Miss Daviss home state of Massachusetts, I hope that fans will be thoroughly affected by this exquisitely beautiful and legitimately comforting film experience.
    VIVA LA BETTE!!!

The daughter should have at least had their front yard cleaned while she was visiting. She wasn't helping them only hindering their independence.

The camera work is lousy. These two deserved better.

lakevubud wolf you do know this is a copy of a 1983 movie, right? We are lucky to even have it.

@@bmbutler2 We are fortunate to be able to see this. However I concur with the previous commentor; this movie was not well produced i.e. poor sound quality and bad camera work. Another movie starring Lucille was "Stone Pillow" 1986. It had a great storyline but seemed to be a very low budget production. Strange considering all the older fine actors.
