Oh so many titles. Gundam wing, tenchi muyo, Zatch bell, outlaw star, big O, maybe even some YuYu hakusho? But this is dream I literally had since the revival. Two Toonamis. I'm very hopeful for a future that CN sees this retro stuff and possibly get off their butts and make the channel better, but we could only hope for the best and for more surprises down the pipes. These retro blocks were a great choice and I have been enjoying them.
Yeah there's not really a good way to watch it without cable or something like RUclipsTV. I have the RUclipsTV option and even I think it's a little overpriced for the picture quality.
I think the best thing that can be done if you love this Toonami rewind thing they’re doing is go to your parents house and watch it since most of us from the original Toonami generation probably don’t have cable anymore. But in a way even so I would think it’s just a way of showing solidarity or support for them doing something like this. Reason being many that like this stuff probably have Crunchyroll and can watch any and all of these shows on demand. But the nostalgia they’re counting on to get us to watch is nice.
That's a great idea. I think even talking about it on social media and just helping make people aware of the block could be really helpful. Toonami has always had this grassroots fan effort behind it.
So good. Toonami Rewind has so much potential, and it is pretty damn good to see action cartoons in the daylight on linear television in 2024. They seem to have a lot of faith with this revival, and I hope they continue to go with that feeling, putting in stuff that hasn't been seen on TV in a while. I wouldn't mind seeing stuff like Gundam Wing, Yu Yu Hakusho, and Outlaw Star there or even Adult Swim-era stuff like Soul Eater, InuYasha, or Space Dandy in the afternoon. But you know what would be a wild addition? Something like Generator Rex which hasn't been seen in over a decade anywhere or the entire run of Young Justice on the block. Going back, looking ahead, constantly innovating, and full of life. That's what makes Toonami (and this video) great.
I think the potential for greatness is what has me so fired up and in a content creation mode lately. The options for classic shows are essentially endless and it seems like the only thing that may be getting in the way is licensing/distributor politics. The DC shows would slot pretty nicely and fill a gap once DBZ Kai catches up to the Saturday airing. The response to Rewind has been great and I look forward to seeing where the Toonami team takes this new endeavor.
Toonami Rewind may be a short start, but a great start. With Cartoon Network decreasing its hourly schedule within a certain amount of months overtime, I'm happy that Toonami is getting a better spotlight this time around.
Yu Yu Hakusho is my #1 choice for the block, plus it has its Blu Ray partial redub that's never been aired on TV so its in the same ball park as the New Sailor Moon and Naruto broadcasts. Maybe Early One Piece with the Funi Dub. They'd both fit the new style and based on what they've used so far they don't seem out of the realm of possibility.
Yu Yu Hakusho would be a great choice. The most recent remaster that is on the blu ray release is just so beautiful. It's currently a Crunchyroll property, so I wonder if they are willing to play ball on some of their older shows.
I got a Sling subscription just to watch Toonami Rewind. Loving it and the line up so far!! So glad Sailor Moon is back on the air and this time dubbed in true uncut form! Love everything Dragon Ball, though I've never watched Kai all the way through, so now I will. Never watched Naruto, but it looks cool!! I hope we can also bring back Tenchi, YuYu Hakusho, Saint Seiya (new dub), and others I haven't even seen.
That’s awesome! Welcome to the party. I only have RUclipsTV just for Adult Swim at this point. You’re in for a treat because seeing what they do with Toonami Rewind is its own little game at this point. I have a new video coming out talking about new show possibilities in the next few days!
I am happy that Sailor Moon came back to US television again. I am nostalgic for relive watching Sailor Moon and Toonami on weekday afternoons just like I spent time on them when I was a kid back in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
I wish Toonami Rewind should air Sailor Moon at 5:00PM, Batman: The Animated Series at 5:30PM, Naruto at 6:00PM, and Samurai Jack at 6:30PM for Every Friday on [adult swim]
Shows that I would like to see return are Gundam Wing, G Gundam, Outlaw Star, Justice League/Justice League Unlimited, Classic Thundercats, and Tenchi Muyo.
Lots of titles I would love to see broadcast to Toonami Rewind. Series like Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki, Mobile Suit Gundam, Outlaw Star, YuYu Hakusho, Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac(The 1986 TV series, and Netflix/Sentai dub), and One Piece (Pre-time Skip, and Funimation/Crunchyroll dub). Even though the majority of the anime wasn't broadcast on Toonami, it is still worth noting that adding some anime from the old days of Fox Kids, Kids’WB, Fox Box, and 4Kids TV. Series like Pokemon (Ingigo League), Yu-Gi-Oh! (uncut), Ultimate Muscle, Shaman King (2001 TV series, uncut), and Sonic X. Some of these recently got a Blu-ray release.
I've seen it said (granted, I read this several years ago on message boards) that Jason Demarco isn't a fan of Yu-Gi-Oh. When people were asking him on Twitter for an English dub of Yu-Gi-Oh Zero on Toonami, he basically said Yu-Gi-Oh was never coming back to the block. Yeah, I'd love to see proper early One Piece on Toonami-even if it would take AGES to get to the stuff we missed between Brook joining, and the reunion on Sabaody.
@@JazzMasterSamurai It's one I hold dearly to my heart. It's the first anime I found on my own. (instead of watching Toonami og) It could be a bit conservsal because it's heavy in drama.

A lot of the use of newer releases are at the behest of the original companies that license the shows, they don't like certain aspects of the older dubs and so out of their way to prevent them from being seen. A big example of this is when Gundam was getting its Blu Ray releases a while back and according to the localization team, they reason why the Animax Dub of Gundam ZZ wasn't used on its release (despite other shows like Build Fighters having bad SEA English dubs on their release) is specifically because Sunrise said they couldn't because they didn't like it.
