There is not much that is universal about USB. C-PD type connections may or may not support a display port etc, so now we have a whole other set of symbols on ports to tell us what they do. We also have current losses and signal losses to cables dependent on length and/or quality, its a headache, especially for product designers wanting to utilize the latest power delivery protocols for precision power delivery.
