I’m so glad you finally went to Newark for Portuguese food. The ribs and chicken have so much flavor even without the bbq and hot sauce. They season it with just salt, keeping it simple. This technique, how they cook it, is so unique, I had a charcoal grill and rotisserie cage custom built, so that I can cook this way at home. Love your videos, this one is extra special for me! Keep up the great work!!!!
Hey JL ... I'm glad you took my suggestion to try Calandra's bakery. Best Italian bakery in Newark. Next time, if you want Portugese food, go to the Ironbound section of Newark. You don't even need a car. You can go by train. Ironbound starts right next to Newark Penn Station. Ferry St is the main street. Its loaded with Spanish, Portugese and Brazilian restaurants. Just pick one. It doesn't matter which one. They're all great and all have big portions. Take another suggestion ... Try my favorite ... Casa Vasca on Elm St. Its a Basque restaurant ... from the Basque region in northeastern Spain near the Pyrenees mountains. Get the Paella Marinera, but don't try to eat it all at once.
Yesssss! Back in my neighborhood JL Jupiter! Keep showing the famous and hidden gems of our city of Newark, NJ! #northnewark #newarknj #varietyoffoods #wearethebest
My hometown Newark NJ shines again lol! Last time I seen you went to Dickie Dee's across the street. Calandras got the banging brownies & cheesecake but kinda pricey now. The BBQ joint I like but too much rice & fries not enough meat. I m still missing my old neighborhood nearby (N. 5th st & 4th ave) but heading back soon for some grub!
My pops and I would have lunch there back in the day when the half order was only 5 dollars! And Calandras is the best bakery in Jersey. So glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the memories 😊
