      The awd supreme variant that had the same engine was a tad slower from awd but i feel it would handle better. Never drove a sport but i drove the awd sel variant and ik for a fact its thr same motor because it had the special tranny that never was in the 3.5. Almost like now u can get the titanium fusion with the 2.7 but its a up charge

      @@adamtillmann936 I really like the AWD, it’s slower in a straight line then the FWD version but these things shine more in the corners anyways. Up here in Canada we can’t get a FWD Sport so this was my only option.

      @@99MCougar As a 2012 Fusion Sport FWD owner, its horrible in the corners. It also eats up the front tires. I have to turn off the traction control until I can get new tires because turning onto an access road from a stop just makes the car buck around and its not a fun drive at all. Peeling out onto access roads with traction ctrl off and listening to the 3.5 under load is worth ruining what's left of the tires though haha

    I was lucky enough to find a 2010 Sport AWD at a local car dealership for my first car. Picked it up for $6,000 with 115k on the odometer. So far I've installed a Steeda strut tower brace, a Steeda throttle body spacer and a Magnaflow cat-back exhaust. All I can say is that this car is amazing all around, and that 3.5 V6 is music to my ears in the higher rpm's. Great video my man

      @@nifte4635 nothing wrong with a 4cyl! They're great cars. I always reccomend and intake and tune because it makes the car much more fun to drive. Cosmetically these look great lowered with wheels (lowering springs also make it way more fun to drive). Other then that you have the basic stuff like tinted tails, HID kits etc. Sport side skirts are hard to find and expensive. The biggest thing cosmetically is keeping it clean!

      +ALBINOvDINO Get rid of the steel hub-capped wheels. Biggest weight you can drop on that car. Make sure you aren't packing the trunk or the car with useless stuff. I don't remember well but I think each pound you dump = 1 more hp, or maybe thats 10 or 100 lbs, can't remember. Just make the car as light as possible and you'll gain considerable torque. I'm assuming that's where you find it slow (takes offs, cliffs) because on the highway that I4 2.5 is a beauty. Cruising @ 120 kmh on 4-6L/100km is pretty sweet. But downshifting from the 6th to overtake someone and merging back @ 135-140 without a sweat is something pretty impressive for a 4 cylinder full size sedan. Just make sure you use a good synthetic oil.

      +PatTheRiot 4 cyl' shave come a long way! I thought it was 100lbs for 10hp or 0.1 in the 1/4 mile. Rotational mass is huge, makes faster acceleration, sharper handling and improved braking!

But u gotta find custom supercharger that will mount on top the engine, also this car is not made for any kind of turbos at all. So honestly this car's a little bit Limited as far as modifications , but it's still a pretty good car

    • @99MCougar
      @99MCougar  8 лет назад +1

      +T'Andre Smith (Tee) they're great cars, pretty capable on track, fun down a canyon but comfortable for daily driving. The problem is that there is a very limited aftermarket. A supercharger or turbo would all have to be custom boost is boost . Plus the trans is the weak point. I'll continue with a few more bolt ons and upgrade brakes/suspension.

      Junior Garcia I don't think I lost any torque with the muffler delete or Vibrant set-up. I think I'll probably lose some low end torque when I gut my pre-cats though. It's hard to say if I made any big gains with the exhaust. The restriction is all in the cats, I probably lost a decent amount of weight though bc those stock mufflers are huge. The overall driving experience is way better though, it gives the car a bit more noise at WOT and the extra sound makes it way more fun to drive.

      Hey there! Your going to love the Sport. They're great cars, I've had 0 issues and I gotta say I beat on it regularly. As far as spacers go I'm not running any but I've seen/heard guys run anywhere from 10-25mm without any problems. Just make sure you get them from a reputable brand. No cheap eBay knockoffs! Having a wheel fly off at highway speeds is no fun.

    • @99MCougar
      @99MCougar  8 лет назад +1

      +kurush61 I would have to say slower ing springs and rear sway bar. Makes the car way more fun to drive and gives it a more sharper feel. Brakes would be next as the stock brakes are pretty horrible (pads and fluid). After that I would say the steeda intake/James tune, the extra noise from the intake gives it a better driving experience and a little more pick up from the butt Dyno. Close behind would be the exhaust. But bang for your buck appearance wise would be The plug and play HID kit with LED light swap on all non-flashing lights. Makes the car look/feel newer. I also love my powdercoated wheels. Which was only $65 a wheel.

    How has the reliability been...looking to pick up one with 100k miles on it...any issues with it?

    • @99MCougar
      @99MCougar  5 лет назад

      Reliability is very good. Just put gas in it and change oil. That being said there is an internal water pump with theae engines and if it goes it basically cooks the motor unleas you notice right away. Changing your coolant regularly is super important because the older coolant gets acidic and breaks down the plastic water pump blades. The only other costly repair is the PTU (engages the rear driveshaft in AWD models). Ford says its not servicable but its a good idea to replace the gear oil in there as well. I'm at 60,000miles and have recently done the coolant and PTU oil (and rear diff while I was at it). I plan on doing it again every 20,000 miles from now on. Trans drain and refill isnt a bad idea too. But yes, stay on top of maintnence and they are extremly reliable. I autocross mine and drive the he'll out of it and its fine.

      Hey there, I haven't had very many issues at all. The BLIS system had a faulty sensor that was covered under warranty, had a squeaky blower motor and heated seat failure (both replaced under warranty). Other then that I've had no issues. The factory chrome clad lug nuts started cracking but really no major issues. Just the few little things I mentioned. Let me know if you have any other questions!

    • @PatTheRiot

      BlackBetty Hey Thanks for the quick reply. I've had the SE 2.5 model for 2 years now, definitely hear ya on the small stuff. Repaired a handle door, blower motor, squeeky upholstery and very minor stuff so far. Changed the lug nuts on buy for solid plated nuts, I change all my tires myself so I really don't have time to mess with those cheap jacketed ones. Mechanically talking these cars are very solid but it's the interior that always needs a couple tweaks here and there. Definitely worth it in my book. I'll take a 15-30 min 50-100$ project over a 2k nightmare anytime. This makes me think I should switch back the blower motor before trading it in to swap it in the sport later. lol, does that make me a bad person? I mean the thing is cheap and easy to switch but I don't want to bother ordering the part again... I'll keep ya posted I'm going to test drive it this week end probably.

      +PatTheRiot right on! You will love the power! I think they also changed a few things with the suspension.. I thought I remember reading that there is different springs and the way they mounted the rear control arms is different for improved stability in the corners. The Sports also have hydraulic steering "to give it better feel". You won't be disappointed, they also use a different trans that is pretty solid as well. Let me know how you like it!

    • @PatTheRiot
      @PatTheRiot 8 лет назад

      BlackBetty Yup that's precisely why I'm getting the sport. The Aisin transmission, the 3.5 duratec and hydraulic direction and of course the AWD for my winter anti depression fun. Is there any oil people like to change the transmission fluid with like redline or something? I eventually always flush all vital fluids when I buy a car. Especially the coolant and the brakes but the fully synthetic niche oils out there are something to reckon with when thinking longevity and intense use of either engine or tranny. For the 2.5L I was sold on the penzoil plat pure plus, that oil has quieted down everything about the engine and it gives superb cold temp starts, cleans pretty intense too. From mobil 1 to this stuff, first dump was very dark and yet my seals got even tighter. Anyways long story short, I'm thinking of using the same stuff in the 3.5 sport, I'm guessing it's going to like it, what are you using?

      @99MCougar  6 лет назад +2

      ZaviaOrtiz2 the right is great, a bit firmer the stock but very compliant. My wife doesn't complain about the car being too stiff or anything. That being said I'm still on factory struts for now. Handling is very good, between the springs and the rear sway bar there is way less lean and the car rotates nicely with some trail braking. A coilover would ride much stiffer.

    I have a sport as well. When you flip it into sports mode, is it necessary to shift or does it still shift on its own. In sport mode you have the option to shift but is it necessary in sport mode?

    • @akalard
      @akalard 8 лет назад

      +BlackBetty it'll downshift for you when you brake.

    • @wseeback
      @wseeback 8 лет назад

      Well, there is no "sport mode", or any other "mode" to that effect. There is simply the option to either drive with the transmission in "pure" automatic, meaning it does all the shifting for you, or you can opt to shift the gears manually yourself. It's your call. You're not stuck one way or the other.

    • @wseeback
      @wseeback 8 лет назад

      +BlackBetty It will downshift for you, if you are in any gear above 3rd, and you come to a stop. If you are in 3rd gear or lower, it will not downshift for you. Meaning, you cannot choose to be in any gear above 3rd when you're taking off from a dead stop.

Even my mecano who swears german always comes back like "wow it really handles nice heh" when I get it in for maintenance. The only downside is the stability control in snow. total bummer. Found any way to disable that? Can you do it with a tune? I'm deciding between either selling or tuning the hell out of it, I still get comments daily like "Hey thats a nice one" lol. • @99MCougar
      @99MCougar  4 года назад

      PatTheRiot couldn’t agree more, the Sports are really something special. Ford did a great job with it. The stability is a bit of a bummer and unfortunately you can’t turn it off with a tune. You can pull your ABS pump fuse but then it kills hour abs and makes your brakes poor. I wasn’t able to lock up the tires with the fuse pulled since it decreases pressure in the line. I have just accepted the fact that stability will stay on, the car is still fun in the winter and I have pushed it hard at autocross and I have never had the stability kick in. Plus the dad in me says taking off stability isn’t really needed on the street anyways. I highly, highly recommend tuning it up. These cars respond very well to modification. Ported intakes, bigger TB, intake, tune and gutted cats really wakes the car up!
