    Thank you very much. I'm about to get someone to do the install for me. Dude is very adamant about accessories being better than battery hardwiring. But the way you explained it, made me think that there shouldn't be a debate.

    Had mine professionally installed last week. Works great! I hope they come out with a software update that would provide rear reverse detection sounds. Even when you adjust the reverse camera to it's lowest visual setting. The car behind you for example, still appears as if it's bumper to bumper to your vehicle. I'm sure I'll get use to gauging the distance soon enough. Great video!

    I believe the GPS needs to be on the dash with the 'up' bit pointing at the sky rather than it being where you installed it. It's looking for satellites and you have it pointing in to the car.

    I have this same van and want to do this upgrade. My question is this: if I want to keep the display off so it functions as a normal rear view mirror (I have kids), will it activate the backup cam when backing up even if I don’t have the screen on beforehand? You know, sort of how other backup cams are off until backing up.

If my car already has a back up camera and I want to use that one, can I still connect the red wire to the rear camera so that I can have a wider angle from the mirror dash cam and still use the car’s screen for reverse parking (I mean can I see both the car’s screen and the mirror dash cam at the same time)? OR I actually have to trade it off for only being able to see from the mirror dash cam and can no longer use the original rear camera that my car has for reverse parking?

      I recently got another model of the same brand a couple of weeks ago and noticed that both cameras have wide vision. The back camera helps halfway through for blind spots, but if the car at your side is smaller than yours, you'll have the same issue as if you didn't have the camera. I re-educated myself to take advantage of the added vision and now I barely worry about blind spots.

  • @xiongboon
    @xiongboon Год назад

    Bought mine but I returned it.
    Reason: it's always recording even after you tell it to stop recording. Let me explain.
    When you turn on your car it starts recording automatically, you have to press stop to stop recording. It will automatically record when you exit out of ANY menu options. For example, if you stop the recording and go into the menu (settings, resolution, volume, brightness, etc. you can even see it happening on this review) and exit out of it, it automatically starts recording, even after you tell it to stop. To me that is not good as I already stop the recording, and really it is wasting memory. This WAS the deal breaker for me.
    Other things I thought needed work on. It does not record for a longer than like 5 mins per video. There should be options to record for hours per video. Also it seems that 'loop recording' is forced as I couldn't find a way or option to turn off loop recording (no setting to change it)
    The Weird. One thing that was weird to me was that I didn't even hook it up to my home wifi, phone, or it's GPS, and somehow it configured the time and time zone by itself. Which I thought was really odd.

    • @AutoMotivate
      @AutoMotivate  Год назад +1

      The loop recording is so the oldest recording can be deleted whenever it runs out of storage.
      If it loops in hour increments then your long footage will be deleted at a time instead of 5 minutes, which can be very useful and is very smart.
      I can’t comment towards your other opinions because I haven’t had issues with what you mentioned. Others might!

    • @xiongboon
      @xiongboon Год назад

      @@AutoMotivate if I am using a 256GB sd card and am on a road trip that is several hours long then I would not want to have to go thru all the 5min videos to find the one I need, that's potentially over 100 videos I would have to sort thru, and to make it worse there is no thumbnail for the videos but only text files to search by. Also what if I don't want loop recording but instead want to swap out the SD card, that should be an option instead of just looping. If my destination is several hours away I might not look back on the videos until I've reach my destination.
      I'm not saying the videos should be an hour long I'm saying it should be an option that is available along with 5min videos.
      I'm sure there are some who also uses the videos as blogs/vlogs, and would prefer that older videos don't get erased when the SD card is full.
      I'm not saying it's a bad tool. I'm just saying that for me it was a deal breaker. I don't mind that it auto records when I start my car, I just don't like the fact that when I stopped recording it should remain stopped until I tell it to record again. Adjusting the volume, or brightness it, or even just exiting the menu items should not go back to auto recording.
      Overall having a dash cam is better than no dash cam.

      @@xiongboon so I have a different brand dash cam that was a lot more expensive than the wolf box. In its instance the loop recording is set to 1 minute with no adjustment. However when I upload say a 4 hour road trip (using a 256gb card as well) all my footage is in order so I drag that off the memory card and into my MacBook and it puts them in order again.
