Greta Garbo: How to Recreate her Iconic Makeup Look

One beautiful face which sums up old Hollywood glamour is Greta Garbo. Irina @retrofrog shows us how to create her alluring look in her latest makeup tutorial.
The Garbo look captivated cinema goers from the late 1920s to the mid 1930s. With her signature thin arched eyebrows furrowed over smoky eyes and pouted lips. To contrast her makeup, Garbo often wore her hair in soft waves, parted from one side. She quit movies early and studiously remained out of the spotlight for the remainder of her life. Great Garbo Makeup Look - Steps.
0:18 Foundation.
Apply a thick layer of foundation of the right shade to your entire face, including the eyelids.
0:52 Brows
Create rather thin arched eyebrows using a dark brown pencil. At the bridge of the nose, the eyebrow should drop down a little.
1:20 Eyes
Use a black pencil to draw the crease of the eyelid and blend the line using a small brush. Apply a dark gray shade of eye shadow over the line. Apply a light gray shade to the entire eyelid, including the created line. Use a black pencil to create an outline along the upper eyelashes. In the outer corner of the lower eyelid, use the same pencil to draw a line going down, creating a sad look. Fix the lines on the upper and lower eyelids with black shadows, and also draw up the lower eyelid. Apply a long lasting black pencil between your eyelashes. Apply black mascara to the upper and lower lashes. Lighten the inner corners of the eyelids with the lightest shade.
Use false eyelashes.
5:17 Sculpturing
Apply a thick concealer to the area under the eyes and fix it with a white loose powder. Adjust the shape of the cheekbones and nose with a cream sculptor. Make your nose thinner by drawing lines from the eyebrows down with a powder sculptor and brush.
6:02 Blush
Apply pink blush to the apples of your cheeks.
6:20 Lips
Use a red pencil to draw a clear outline, creating rather thin but expressive lips and cover them with red lipstick.

I'd say she looks young without this makeup. It ages her by at least 20 years. She's obviously made up BUT it doesn't look like the makeup is responsible for the aging. She just looks realistically older. Which is actually a very difficult skill to master.
