@qqqquito Thank you so much qqqquito! I think you've solved the puzzle. I saw/heard the other video which I liked, and feel that it's the very same singer. She had a lovely voice!
This movie clip comes from the Hollywood film "Juarez", filmed in 1938 in Mexico, and released in early 1939. Thus, the singer cannot be Rosita Serrano, for, in 1938 she was living in (Nazi) Germany, recording right and left, very successfully in every sense. Her father was a Chilean diplomat serving in Germany. It is enormously unlikely that the producers would cross the Atlantic by boat to go all the way to Nazi Germany to recruit a singer completely unknown in the United States, even for a just one song, and to keep her uncredited. Rosita Serrano had pristine beautiful voice, but the probability that it is she who sang La Paloma in "Juarez" is almost zero. As for Amelita Galli-Curci, she was in complete retirement by 1938 (when she was already 56 years old), her singing practically destroyed by an unfortunate combination of goiters and the surgery to remove it. Then, regarding soprano Corinna Mura. Her real name was Corinna Wall, her father was Scott and her mother, Mexican mother. She was born in Mexico City in 1909, and she grew up mostly in Hartford, Connecticut. Her mother saw to having Corinna receiving operatic singing education.. So, Mura/Wall was in the U.S.A. when the movie was filmed, and most likely, meandering around Hollywood for “stardom”. In 1938 she was 29, and 33 when Casablanca was filmed. IMDB does NOT identify the singer. The mystery remains: who sang La Paloma in "Juarez”?.
