It is not as simple as Bharkha puts it.- Professional rivalry. The Radia tapes were a shock to the common man who had at one time held her a hero reporting live from places like war zone. Here, she was discussing ministry making. What business does a journalist have to hobnob in ministry making discussions of the executive? The fourth estate, to remain independent was required to be far away from such matters. It is another matter that today the journalists have disgraced themselves even further.
I think it's fair to concede that irrespective of the actual independence of the reportage, the perception generated at the time, held to the contrary.

My real issue with Radia tape was the media blackout. Barkha dutt and most other indian journalists conveniently ignored the fact that the tapes were out. When foreign media outlets started questioning the silence in Indian media then these shameful people acknowledged it. Someone should find the other breaking news Barkha was peddling the days when radia tapes should have been the headline.
Barakha even now is telling lies. Why Nira Radia tapes have been forgotten? She is giving lame excuses. Barkha was fully involved in political manipulations. She benefitted from her political चाटुकारिता. Her credibility ZERO.
Barkha Dutt, another nepo kid...enough said. The Indian media peddlers should be ashamed of themselves for the self-censure they forgot to apply to their reporting during Mumbai 26/11. They have blood on their hands because the pakfauj proxies could follow everything live & acted accordingly. I like SG, he does his best under self imposed constraints to bring news and not propaganda. However he is never openly antagonistic. Also the breadth of Print is far wider than NL. NL does an excellent job at covering news channels and anchors and exposing hypocrisy and calling a spade a spade.
