    Marketing and finding buyers has been my number one question mark sitting here on the brink of farmsteading and debating its viability for us. Everyone talks about their numbers but the actual marketing and building a customer base is less talked about in this kind of detail. This was immensely helpful. Thank you!

    Absolutely want more marketing info. This was so useful. As new homesteaders we are so grateful for this info. We're raising organic heritage hogs on pasture can along with grassfed beef. The marketing is our most challenging aspect. And not nearly as much fun as the farming itself. Thanks!

    Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! We've been looking for some solid marketing advice or a marketing course/program/service but haven't found anything that seemed like a good fit for us starting out. Been doing a farmer's market for about 2 months now and that's helped to get our name out a little bit but we feel like we just haven't moved to the level needed. This was very informative and I'd love to see and hear more about how to market on a budget, beginning marketing, and how to get started and build a marketing strategy. I think the channel is a good platform. This may be an idea for a series. Thanks again. Keep this information coming!!

    Definitely one of your best videos. I just found your channel a week ago. Randomly it hit me..what is Troy upto? haha! You have arguably the best homestead channel. The likes on your videos speaks volumes. I was raising free range bershires heritage breed. I was getting .55cents lb I was in Louisiana a saturated market not concerned about "free range" hogs. So I shut it down and move to a new state with a newer city of nearly 5million people. I like my new odds and will be starting up soon. Thanks for your help on every video!

    • @RedToolHouse
      @RedToolHouse  6 лет назад +1

      Wow! That is high praise. Thank you so much. $.55 is tough to make money in any setup. Good move! You definitely need to identify your niche market and promote exclusively to them. People respond well to scarcity (the idea that there are limited things available)

    I love your content. Love this video. I NEED videos like this. I need to know how to make money off of our farm's products, and to create a successful business. I'm working on tweaking management practices and this helps keep me in focus in a way. If I have the knowledge or some basic understanding of steps to take to get money in the piggy bank (pun intended, we raise piggies), then it would help me to figure out the processes to get to that point. We still have a long way to go on getting the business to run smoothly, but we do have return customers! We asked what folks like... Some folks like very lean meat, some like it to be fatty, so we're figuring out what we can do to appease the customers...

    I could have listened to you talk about marketing for hours...in fact, I would REALLY LIKE TO! but, maybe this isn't the platform. I've tried my hand at raising tropical fish for the wholesale market but was undercut by cheap Asian imports. Tried ducks & hatching eggs & eggs for Health Food store...not a stable market. Starting over with heritage breed turkeys...just sold my 1st yearlings at a good price. I'm not looking to establish a business yet because i'm still on a small rented space (actually, in a trailer park) but the information you provided in just this short video, was as good as gold to me...& we know the future potential for gold! thanks.

    If you start with wix or squarespace and want to expand there is nothing that stops you from building a new website the same from scratch way and making the jump. I think most farmerssteaders aren't going to produce enough product of any sort where they will outgrow those websites for their buying and selling.

    Perhaps this is an opportune moment to add the stacking of enterprises or multiple streams of income generation to the conversation of sustainable regenerative small or family organizations and farms. Then there is the how and in what sequence in order to make the chosen stack of enterprises doable and sustainable....... it makes sense that single enterprise would be an entry point though soon afterward it makes alot more sense to organize around multiple enterprises, services, educational potentials etc. , yes?
