My orchestra teacher wanted us(a middle school orchestra) to play this, it was just me and two other violas and he had to cut it because we couldn't play the part lol, so hearing this being so amazingly played is literal bliss to my ears

Same for “We Don’t Talk About Bruno”! My high school’s symphony orchestra played it in our most recent concert, and us violists had the melody. At first, only four violists could play, but we all carried at the end. It was the hardest piece we ever played since we weren’t used to having the melody. Finally something besides quarter notes and slurred eighth notes!
The one time I actually played a complicated part I just skipped like half the notes, the other violist too btw. They recorded the whole concert and sold the CDs bc it was the 600 year anniversary of my school, whelp guess my shame lives on forever recorded in crisp Audio quality

Violas are extremely hard at so many points… too bad we never get the melody. People often slander us for having the easy parts, but orchestra teachers have proved time and time again that without the violas my orchestra will fall apart. We kinda act like glue, and although it’s easier and I wish it was harder, it’s fun being a viola. Also, I have violinist friends and a violinist sister, I can play their violins, they find my viola too big/too hard to play. It’s an adjustment to size and notes (also I can read treble).. I love being a viola :)) we’re under appreciated and under recognized

I remember this in high school orchestra. The violas were like “What is going on?” My friend was so used to just playing harmonies. She worked so hard to get this part right.
As someone who plays viola, I appreciate this video. The things we have to do are insane compared to the other instruments in some cases. Everyone in my class (mostly violins and I know it's not everyone) is always hating on us, and saying we are the worst instrument.

I played this last year in our band with full orchestra and when the winds and strings came together it was sooooo hype. I absolutely loved playing this and the piano part (my part) was the most fun I’ve had playing piano in a while
All parts of a piece can be difficult in their own unique melodies, harmonies, and accompaniments. (Traditionally 2nd violinist speaking) But it's the different melodies, harmonies and accompaniments that are written that makes the composition so beautiful and lively. I believe that no instrument in an ensemble is better or worse than another. The quality of the part is simply found in the musician's skillet and the amount of effort they use to perfect the piece or selection. You did an amazing job at those runs (can't tell if they're 16th or 32nd notes).
Finally found a violist on RUclips!! I have been playing viola for 3 years now and I'm already in the high School orchestra even though I'm in middle school. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE VIOLA ❤ and you play it amazing!!😊

Yeah, I play the viola. The thing about it is most of the time the parts are easier, but when we do have a solo, they are very difficult and complex. Especially because the viola is harder to play physically because it’s larger and heavier.
I love seeing violist shine. This is awesome actually. They have the best of both. Sounds like and cello and violin combined. Beautiful deep tones but bright lighter tones to match violins. ❤

What you said only apply to people with small hands, i can reach a twelfth so it isn’t a problem. Bigger heavier and the intervals are further, why do you think violinists can still play in tune when they change from a 3/4 size to a full size? Violists aren’t familiar with the E string, you may add violinist aren’t familiar with the C string but somehow we just know how to play it, an experienced one ( a violinist would get this) . Violinists always get very high up on the E string while violists rarely get that high up on the A string.

Violas are so underrated. I played viola for 3 years and I thought it was better than violin! I switched to cello at the beginning of this year and I actually miss viola! I'm currently in middle school, that's why I only played viola for only 3 years BTW. But cello is awesome, too. I love the way it sounds, it's so magical. I enjoy every piece I play, same for viola.

Played this piece a couple months ago in music camp, the violas sounded absolutely amazing during that bit, I love the warm, deep kinda sound it has.
