Used these on a really cold day at the lake ruclips.net/user/postUgkxDn2sw8y7H6oNOV0envADWPlTV9pvctAA the spool was really fluent in letting the line out and the whole mechanism was really responsive to any hit from the fish, it was also great that you can adjust it for big or small fish. The light it came with works great in the dark. The only thing that I had problems with is the depth droppers clasp is really weak and it wouldn't stay on the hook unless you threaded the hook through the springs
Dude im laying here my leg shot to shit (buddy got me out pheasant hunting) unable to work bored out of my damn mind. Your videos breaking the cycle of pain pill, sleep, boredom. keep em coming i got 3-4 more weeks of this shit.
Great video! I use this video to remind myself how to set the hook. It's a great tutorial in that regard! Love the videos Tom! Your enthusiasm for tip up fishing is contagious. I love seeing that spindle/spool spin as the fish is taking line!
No ice on the lakes yet in Northeast Pa. Nice to see someone on the lakes fishing. We usually have a layer on ice and can ice fish around Christmas. Nothing yet Oh, GET YOUR FINGERS OUT OF THE FISH'S GILLS if your returning them to the water
Good video. I really enjoy using tip-ups. In Iowa we can have 3 lines. I usually have 2 out while jigging. I use them for a lot of different species. Walleye, Northern and Perch. Will eventually try one of the Beaver Dam but awhile back found a bunch of Polar tipups clearanced at Walmart for $1.50 each. Bought probably 30 of them so have to go through those first.
*These work with rod and reel or tip ups **enjoyable.fishing** recommend it’s good for keeping snow out of the hole and to greatly slow hole freezing. They are not heavy so need to be held down by tip up or some snow/ice shavings if windy. Have not had them freeze down even when placed in wet ice shavings.*
Does Tom have a video showing that hook extraction technique going thru the gills? All of the clips I've seen so far are from the go pro and the angle doesn't show much.
Great video as always! If you guys are using straight up treble hooks, you may want to look over the MN fishing regulations. As far as I can remember, or unless it has changed, if a treble hook is not a part of a lure it's considered three lines (maybe your rattle thing is considered a lure). I know that sounds stupid, but that's what I remember when I tip up fished there years ago.
Hey Tom, just wanted to ask what case you have for your 44" ice fishing rod? That nice and wide bottom flip one. Also, what is the brand of that rattlin thing? That's intetesting.
@@cccolorado30 I think it’s the DCD996 it’s the 3 speed 20v max XR. My setup will let me get around 36” I think. I drilled through about 30” last winter in about 10-12 seconds.
Tom, I have 6 beaver dam tip-ups, using them the past couple years, I always wondered what that free wabbly black rubber ring is at the base of the flag? Any uses for it? Loving your videos, very informative! Helping me and my kids slowly getting better with fishing.
Great video. For a slow day looks like you still caught a bunch of fish. Could you let us know what type of line and lb test you recommended for tip ups. Just got my first beaver dam and would like to set it up correctly. Fish On! Hooked Up!
Really enjoy watching your shows! I was wondering about your electronics... I know you use HB for open water, any reason you haven’t switched to a graph style? What are you using to find your waypoints and finding contour lines during hard water season? I hope one day to book you for a day! Thanks for the very informative videos!
Nice video once again. Any idea where I can get the Beaver Dam Northern light tip ups, been trying since watching you last year and everyplace is always sold out. Been trying all summer. Thanks
Do you have any thoughts on light through the ice? If there’s 1’ of ice plus snow wouldn’t it be low light conditions to the fish 24/7? Why does night still seem to make a difference? Thx
Even with cover (snow on ice or thick ice) sun light does still get through. So at night (no sunlight) is the difference. Plus heat of the sun vs. no heat with no sun.
What to do you use to mark your depth on the tip up line? I've always used small bobbers or even splitshot but I don't see anything on the line on your tip ups.
He set that one tip up with his flasher telling him where his bait was relative to bottom. Lots of guys (myself included) use the clip on weight to find bottom, attach the line maker and set bait height accordingly. I guess if you use the flasher to show you where your bait is relative to bottom, you don’t need a line maker🤷♂️
@@JPons10 I noticed he uses the flasher. I also use the weight and line marker method. It seems like its way easier than having to bring a flasher everytime you get a bite.
@@josephtruskowski688 I also use line markers. I was just saying how it seems like quite a few people on RUclips don't and I was curious as to why. It seems like bringing a flasher unit with everytime you get a bite would get old after a while
ive been hammering the ice fishing videos recently, and being from new york its mind blowing that you can only have 2-3 lines. out here its 7 lines per fisher. wanna talk about a hell of a time. grabb 4 friends and let the flag chasing begin
Dude if your doing a fishing show you should know not to put back a fish that is bleeding. You just let that 1st fish go to suffer a slow death. Good job on that.

Can you go over your exact tip up setup in more detail? For example what treble size and leader line?
Thanks for the effort to entertain us this past week, on first ice, nice!
Nothing beats Beaver Dam tip-ups! Great vid Tom!

Nice trick on release, putting pressure on hook with wraps around finger and going in through gill plate with hemos.

Wow,Congrats is a great price.
In mass we can have 5 lines
Do a segment on Tom talks with more detail on the deep hook extraction. Thanks. Love the channel.

Enjoyed how you laid this out. Never really fished this method. May have to give it a try.
Love the ice vids man always learning.
Would have liked to see how you rigged them up for walleyes

Congrats guys,Nice video,Thanks for sharing. Tight lines & stay safe.
Another great informative learning video. Keep them coming. Thanks.
Good to see ya out again. Ice looks ugly but pretty thick. We don't have any safe ice in Montana yet
Always enjoy your videos! My favorite fishing RUclipsr 👍

Nice auger! I got that same drill last year and hooked it up to an old 7" Mora I had and it flies through the ice!
What model # Dewalt is that? How thick of ice can you go through?
@@cccolorado30 I have a K drill. 6 inch... I've burned through 3.5 feet of ice with it and did 6 holes with no problem...

Thanks Tom
What were ya using on the buisness end split shot hook and minnow’s
I know this video isn't about this at all but what reel do you use for ice fishing for walleye and/or perch

Great job Guys Hey Dax and Tom
The beanie over the hat combo, it must be winter fishing season
I thought the ice gave that away ;)
GotTwins29 yes of course, that too is also a strong indicator lol
How do you set up bait off the bottom?😊
like your shows ...Have queastion i see your wearing gloves tip up fishing . what kind of glove is that
What is on the underside of your tipup? Something to attach your hook to?
What was your setup here? What kind of Hook?

Also depends on lake/body of water your fishing as in water charity (clear,stained,murky,etc.).

Still waiting for ice in N. Illinois.
Going to be awhile for us....calling for low 50's next week...😪
How much ice is up there and thanks for the tip 🤘🏻
What is size limit on red lake
How is the ice looking in the Hayward area?
How do you like the Eskimo Pistol Bit?
I have the 6" one and it's awesome. Have mine connected to 18v ridgid drill
What auger are you using?
Beauty! What are you using for a leader? Floro?
Very likely flouro 🙂
