  • Many parents imagine what the paramedic response would be if their child was in cardiac arrest. Believe it or not, they almost unanimously believe that it's best to just "rush to the hospital." In fact we know that this is harmful and leads to poor outcomes.
    Consider that of the 20,000 children that suffer cardiac arrest every year, only 1,000 survive neurologically normal. That's only 5%. Stella is proof that staying on scene to provide choreographed care is the only way to improve outcomes.
    We honor the men and women of the Broward Sheriff's Office who stayed on scene to resuscitate Stella so she could celebrate her 3rd birthday!
