I find it interesting that many of the reviews about the lume on newer Paganis are so negative.
All I know is when I wake up in the middle of the night right there next to my Citizens and Seikos this Pagani is glowing just as -and dare I say- maybe even more so brightly and is completely readable with dilated eyes in the dark. Pagano has come light years in a very short time and I’m just thrilled with this watch!

I have this watch with the 5833 movement and it is running within chronometer limits with zero beat error. For the $98 USD that I paid, I'm extremely pleased with it. I bought the new Seiko watch with this NH34 and it was running +25 secs per day with 0.7 ms of beat error so I returned it. The only way I would consider paying more for this PD NH34 version would be if they regulated the movement to a decent accuracy level, added AR coating, BGW9 on the dial markers & hands, and most importantly...made the bezel bidirectional. Why is the latter so difficult? On a GMT watch at this price point, I expect the bezel to be bidirectional. Great review WR4K as always!

I pick up the Pearl DG5833 mvt for only 45euro on offer because it's way cheaper 3 times cheaper than the NH34A and demagnetised it and it's perfect. Furthermore the movement got some color accent to it and it looks good with transparent backcase.

Bit disappointed with Pagani not addressing the issues with QC, no AR coating and a wonky bezel at that price, the NH34A is not that more expensive than the 35 but to hype the price from under £100 to £230 Is a massive jump.
Can’t understand why they haven’t designed their own GMT watch as other micro brands have designed some crackers
    Great review as always 👍

    Nice review as usual!
I received this NH34 version last week. On mine, the lume on the bezel is green and the lume on the dial matches the color of the BGW9 on my San Martins.
And, while the lume on the bezel fades pretty quickly, the lume on the dial lasts nearly as long as the lume on my San Martins.

Hello, I just recieved my 1662 nh34 yesterday, also batman on a jubilee. Mine came with blue AR coating, does its job compared to my 1661. QC wise, the head of the watch is almost flawless for me, but the bracelet gave me trouble. The extension link was very stiff, and the screw head on that link was stripped and impossible to unscrew(so cant swap out to my glidelock). I am quite satisfied with the watch itself for the $106USD i paid during 11.11, but disappointed that my bracelet was bad. I messaged them and they'll be sending me parts for the bracelet. Really wish they just got their QC in order.

nice to see this review, I have the previous version of this watch and it's the first pagani in my collection to cease up. it works for a couple of hours then stops and shake it a bit and wind it works a couple hours and stops.
differences with this and previous version is the polishing of the center links is definitely better on this one and the blue on the bezel is brighter and obvioisly better lume. Other than that it's the same and unfortunately this price is going into San Martin territory but not San Martin build quality.

The Pearl movement used in the older versions is complete garbage. I have a PD Explorer 2 homage..the most inconsistent watch I have ever bought. I have regulated it about 5 times..occasionally it runs at -5 seconds per day, the next time I wear it will be +20. Nice looking watch, except for the misaligned cyclops!!! PD often get this wrong. The NH34 would be a far better bet, I'm sure that PD will change to this movement exclusively in their future GMT watches.

In regards to the bezel, honestly i liked the old insert better, just from the looks. The simple white paint was bolder and therefor looked better.
The issue on the bezel, that mark, would be a reason for me to send the piece back.
Some things you can overlook, I kept pieces with sharp corners on clasp or week lume, things that don’t matter so much or like in the case of sharp corners can remedy yourself. Yeah one could get a new insert and replace the old one but not for 200 bucks.
Hopefully they released a PD-1682 with the NH34…
I just checked, the sale price will be ~168, for that money, without that mark on the bezel, it’s ok.
Thanks for the review of this new piece!
On a side note, which range of accuracy for the NH34/35/36 group do you find acceptability?

I bought the oyster style bracelet and it is NOT good. Poor clasp execution (I couldn't even open it) and poor tolerances on the link pins. My cyclops is not aligned correctly and the clarity is poor. The bezel, however, on my watch, is well executed and I don't seem to have the QC issues identified in the review. The usual gripe about lume will be the same for all the 1662 models. I would have preferred a SS caseback.
For the £125 GBP I paid in the 11/11 sale I am happy with the value and compared to the £350 - £400 currently being charged by Seiko I think it stacks up pretty well...
I intend to mod the watch and am considering the following.
    1) BGW 9 hand set £10
    1a) BGW 9 GMT hand £4
    2) BGW 9 dial £20 - £50
    3) Custom rotor £15
    4) Lower profile crown (if tolerances allow) £10
    5) Jubilee style bracelet from PD £18
    6) Cyclops delete £0
I may also experiment with thin-film AR coating technology. Just found a company that supplies a 100mm x 100m sample for £6. Should be enough for 4 attempts 🙈...
Even after those upgrades it's still a Seiko NH34 powered GMT for under £200... even the micro brands using the movement can't get close.
Thanks for all the great reviews, keep up the good work 👏

1200 TPD (Turns Per Day) is enough wind a 40 hour power reserve movement, such as the NH35A, or SW200-1. Wearing the watch for 8-12 hours per day is also enough. There isn't a difference in the wear of the movements parts whether the 1200 TPD is done on a winder, or on a wrist; as the winder doesn't rotate non-stop for 1200 turns. It rotates, then pauses, then rotates again. In both cases the lubricant is being worked around the movement which reduces friction, and wear in the moving parts. Leaving a movement for months static does no harm, as when its manually wound, automatically wound, or wound on wrist; the lubricant is worked around the movement.
Accelerated wear in movements doesn't come from them being wound too much by winders. It comes from dirty lubricant being worked around the movement, which increases friction, and wear.
Therefore regardless of how often, or seldom a movement is wound; it should be serviced every 5 years.
Every time a crown is unscrewed it allows air to enter the case which contains dust particles. Also the gears lose metal particles. The dirt from the dust particles, and metal particles contaminate the lubricant and make it dirty, which increases the friction, and wear.
Breaking down a movement, ultrasonically cleaning the parts, then building it back up with fresh lubricant every 5 years, reduces the aforementioned wear from dirty lubricant. Similar to changing the oil in a car engine every 10,000 miles, or 12 months, whichever comes sooner. The clean engine oil reduces friction, and wear.
Obviously its worth servicing an SW200-1 watch every 5 years at 150 Euro, as the cost of the movement exceeds this.
However its not worth servicing an NH35A, as a new movement only costs 30 Euro, which is less than the labour time for a watchmaker to break it down, ultrasonically clean the parts, and build it back up with fresh lubricant.
Therefore it makes more sense just to replace the NH35A with a new one when it can not longer be regulated within its stated -20 to +40 seconds per day.
Both winders and wearing watches are OK. Winders don't accelerate wear more than wearing the watch for 8-12 hours per day.
Providing the movement is serviced every 5 years, the wear will be the same in both cases.
It doesn't matter if a watch is worn daily, once a week, once a month, once a year, etc. If the lubricant is clean, it will reduce friction, and wear, when the movement is wound again in all cases.
Some movements only need to be serviced every 10 years. This because they use a high performance lubricant. For example Rolex developed a new high performance lubricant for the Caliber 3235. The 3135 had a 5 year service interval, versus the 10 year service interval of the 3235.
Its like the difference between using mineral engine oil, versus using fully synthetic engine oil. The mineral engine oil will need to be changed every 10,000 miles, but the fully synthetic engine oil can be run for 20,000 miles. However I still think changing the lubricant every 5 years is better than every 10 years.
      Regards, #WR4K

Sir...did you change the movement to an NH34a or is Pagani making this offering? I'm wondering if I can upgrade to the NH24a with my Batman which I just received less than a week ago. The Pearl was +35 and only seemed to get worse over time. The hack feature broke on day 2 and when I opened the case to move the regulator, I saw oily fingerprints all over the movement and dirt, hair and debris inside the case. The O ring was out of its channel and was crushed and broken. I have some repairs to do but I want to put a decent movement in the watch first and foremost. Clearly I got one of the turds. It appears Pagani has monkeys assembling their watches in a dust storm. To add to it all, the clasp was stuck shut when I received it too. Definite QC issues. I like Pagani products but will never buy another one with the 5833 movement.
