Haslips timing is off the chart. Will he ever stop to become more awesome? I did lighting once way back in 2000 for a gig where he played, and got a chance to chat with him briefly. Such a great person.❤
@@philippediot88 I've heard them all extensively. Currently Sonny Emory is the best today. Gadd the best of yesterday. Dave Weckl , Dennis Chambers and Vinnie C. Harvey and JP all top tier...along with many others. But Sonny at 60 years old plays all genres above and beyond. There's at least 4 recent videos of this trio recently dropped. Check em out!
@@cdb7876 for me personnaly , the Best for the groove is jeff porcaro for always ! Créative and Best session musicians with many artist in the world . His shuffle is crazz
I had a Doctor's appointment in the early 90s and had just pulled in the parking lot when I heard this tune over the radio "State of Grace' by Jeff. Of course I was few minutes late.😄
I met Jiimmy Haslip a couple of years ago. He's a great bass player, and a great human being;...As I'm a great fan of Jimmy Haslip, I'm a great fan of Jeff Lorber.
Maybe it is just me, but for some reason it sounds like the drum is a little too loud in mix? Particularly the snare and cymbals (especially when he hits rim shots). Overall I really enjoy this performance, but that really stood out to me.
You can tell the lefty bass player learned to play on a righty flipped over, but never corrected the strings when he got a lefty bass. I had the same decision to make but I chose to correct the strings. It took me a while to relearn everything. I guess it doesn't really matter which way you play though, with musical instruments, there is no right or wrong way to play, you can play any way you want.
Ik ben blij dat ik die avond als FOH tech het geluid mocht voorzien 🙂. Wat een gouden trio.
Goed gemixt
Sonny Emory. Mercy. I love Jimmy's phrasing in this solo!
Thanks for sharing. This is Jeff's best trio.
Sure
Bass is funky as hell.
Superb Band !!!!! Sonny is undeniably underrated ! One of the BEST Ever !!!!!
Cats are bad dudes, great sound and talent.

Het was heerlijk, zo swingend, op een prachtige plek, de Beurs Upstairs in Tiel❤

Indeed. I met him at Blues Alley in DC, years ago. Spoke with him between sets. Very nice, humble, and approachable individual!
My favorite style you play, especially Jimmy Haslip
I don't think there's a better drummer on the planet than Sonny🎉 These 3 are UNBELIEVABLE as a trio🎉🎉🎉🎉
Man , don’t forget jeff porcaro / steve gadd / carlos vega and john jr robinson ! 😊

@@cdb7876 Nothing to take away from all of the others mentioned, they are all amazing. But I agree with. Sonny is a bad man
Dennis Chambers or Harvey Mason will give Sonny a good run for his money!
Smokin' 🔥. Always been a big fan of Jimmy's playing!
Me2, Back in time when Chaka Khan started performing as a solo artist.
Sonny Emory was also amazing when he had the drum seat with Earth Wind & Fire !
ALWAYS A GREAT LINEUP FOR JEFF
My man and company. Since 1979 for me. Love you Jeff!!

😜
Gran destreza musical...y para que decir el ritmo del mismo...es BRUTAL !! Tremendos Músicos !!
There’s nothing more dangerous in this world than a left hand bass player🫡. the whole band 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
And his strings are upside down

at 1:40 I hear the bass.....but I don't see him playing. That's odd....
He plays the bass, but doesn't hit the strings hard
Watch again. The bass licks at 1:40 are played by Jeff Lorber using his brand new Yamaha Montage 8. It also happens at :37.

Mr. Haslip is a Bass Guitar ICON.
So he just changed the nut on a lefty bass? Pretty smart.
